"Zheng Zefeng, born in 1992, is from Luzhi County, Ru Yun City, Xijiang Province. His parents are both teachers at County First Middle School.
His grades have always been good since elentary school, and teachers have highly praised him. After graduating from County First Middle School, he was specially recruited by the Ru Yun City Experintal High School due to his excellent grades. During high school, he won a gold dal in the national level Physics Olympic Competition and was thus admitted to the physics departnt of Shuangdan University.
During his undergraduate studies, he achieved double degrees in mathematics and physics, and because of his excellent grades, he applied for the national scholarship and went to Harvard University’s mathematics departnt to pursue a master’s degree. He obtained his master’s degree in just two years.
Afterward, Dr. Zhang Shuwen noticed him, and he went to Princeton University to pursue a Ph.D. After obtaining the Ph.D., he successfully applied to the Young Talent Program and was introduced by Yujiang University to work in the Advanced Mathematics Institute.
I don’t really know much about his research topics—those terms make dizzy. You can just casually check a website, everything is on there."
Zheng Xiweng solemnly recounted the basic resu of this relative.
But clearly, Qiao Yu seed quite unsatisfied, muttering, "He switched from physics to mathematics again? However, Uncle Zheng, I can find all these things through public channels. Can’t you tell sothing different?"
Zheng Xiweng was silent for a mont and then asked, "What different things do you want to hear?"
"For instance, has he ever dated anyone? Is he married, does he have kids? Oh, and during his CSC scholarship period, did he often attend various parties or such?
Telling these things helps understand his character. Ultimately, it’s to determine whether he can be recruited as a backup mber into the project group."
Zheng Xiweng couldn’t help rolling his eyes at Qiao Yu, saying, "How could we possibly know such detailed information?"
"Hehe..."
Qiao Yu chuckled and said, "Just tell whatever you know. Our project group needs to handle pressure, and we can’t just recruit people with spine issues who might not even be able to lift a trash can without breaking their bones, right?"
Realizing that Qiao Yu did have a point, Zheng Xiweng was silent for a while before speaking, "Given that he graduated from Harvard in two years and was chosen by Professor Zhang to attend Princeton, he probably didn’t have much ti to attend parties.
Regarding girlfriends, he did have two, but both relationships were brief. One was during his master’s studies at Harvard. The other was during his Ph.D. at Princeton.
Both girls were Huaxia students studying abroad. Overall, during his ti studying abroad, his social circle was relatively simple. He hasn’t had any romantic experiences since returning to China and is not married yet."
Qiao Yu put down the papers in his hand, curiously looked at Zheng Xiweng and asked, "Wow, he dated one during grad school and one during his Ph.D., how do you conclude that his social circle is simple?"
Zheng Xiweng looked at Qiao Yu and said, "He can’t have no social circle at all, right? Both girlfriends were t through the official Huaxia Students’ Association in the U.S."
Qiao Yu blinked and then gossipingly asked, "So, why did they break up? The typical mathematician awkwardness? Lack of romance? Or was it that his kind of romance was unfelt by those two won? Or was he too affectionate?"
Zheng Xiweng shook his head decisively and replied, "I don’t know about that, plus such personal matters have nothing to do with research, right?"
Qiao Yu retorted righteously, "Who said that? That’s the key to analyzing his personality traits! Knowing the reasons helps collaborate with him better.
For example, if he’s the very affectionate type, the support staff in the project group should reduce contact with him to prevent any chaotic situations that might delay the project, isn’t it?"
Zheng Xiweng hesitated but after a while answered, "As far as I know, his breakups with his girlfriends were unrelated to any reasons you ntioned. In personal relationships, he’s more of a passive personality."
Qiao Yu raised his hand to scratch his ear and comnted, "Why didn’t you just say that earlier? So, this Professor Zheng is supposed to be a quiet, handso old guy, right?"
Even though Qiao Yu was in charge of making exam papers and grading, he wasn’t involved in receiving guests or proctoring, so he actually didn’t know what these professors looked like.
But just from looking at Zheng Xiweng’s expression, Qiao Yu knew he hit the nail on the head.
Not that there was much to brag about here.
To get a girlfriend just by attending a students’ association eting, he must have sothing going for him in appearance at least.
But to get a girlfriend and not keep her, and since Zheng Xiweng also stated it wasn’t due to personal moral reasons, he must be sort of dull in non-professional areas and not very articulate.
Aside from his good looks, it aligns with the general public perception of mathematicians.
Of course, his Senior Brother Chen is an exception. Though not particularly handso, he’s very skilled at charming won.
Up to now, Qiao Yu still doesn’t understand how Senior Brother Chen made Zhang Xiao so devoted to him. It doesn’t make sense. Old Xue’s achievents are way higher than Senior Brother Chen, yet he’s still single...
Nevertheless, Qiao Yu was quite satisfied with this old handso guy.
He likes interacting with people who are reserved but impactful. Not to ntion, this Professor Zheng isn’t entirely unworldly; he’s actually quite savvy and specifically sought out Zhang Shuwen.
So he’s not entirely out of touch with worldly affairs.
Thus, Qiao Yu made a mark on the paper. If there’s no better fit, he’ll be the choice!
It’d also be nice to have Old Zhang owe him a favor.
The guy was Zhang Shuwen’s student at Princeton after all.
The next ti sothing cos up, Zhang Shuwen won’t have much excuse to refuse a favor from Yuan Elder.
So Qiao Yu continued to inquire while grading, and Zheng Xiweng resignedly started providing targeted responses to his questions.
Qiao Yu began to admire Zheng Xiweng’s mory a little.
Indeed, there’s no lack of amazing people in every field. Among over forty people, Zheng Xiweng rembers each one’s situation quite well.
As soon as Qiao Yu ntions a na, Zheng Xiweng can imdiately recount their resu and situation with high accuracy. Qiao Yu himself might not rember things that clearly.
Of course, he also admired himself; unconsciously, he had finished grading all the papers in just one afternoon.
Then Qiao Yu put down his pen, stretched a bit, and suddenly turned to ask Zheng Xiweng, "Uncle Zheng, you guys must also have detailed information about and my mom, right? How’s it recorded?"
Without a trace of defense, the question hit Zheng Xiweng’s ears abruptly.
Zheng Xiweng raised his head, stared at Qiao Yu, and didn’t respond.
"Don’t be so serious, I’m just asking casually, just say whatever cos to mind, it’s no big deal," Qiao Yu said indifferently.
"Don’t you know yourself better than I do?" Zheng Xiweng softened his expression and smiled while asking.
"That’s not necessarily true, maybe you guys are better inford?" Qiao Yu smiled in return and pressed on.
"Heh... so what do you want to ask?" Zheng Xiweng replied nonchalantly.
"How about you pick sothing yourself that you can share?" Qiao Yu seed quite interested.
Zheng Xiweng thought for a mont, then tentatively asked, "About your little girlfriend?"
"Co on, Xia Keke and I have known each other since we were in diapers, I know more about her than her parents do. You’re telling about her?"
Qiao Yu threw a disdainful look at Zheng Xiweng, feeling the guy was being a bit unfair.
"If not, how about talking about my dad?"
Zheng Xiweng pondered for a couple of seconds, then shook his head, saying, "You’re not considering asking about your biological father’s current situation, are you?"
Qiao Yu blinked, slightly surprised, and asked in disbelief, "Wait, you just said his current situation?
But my mom already told he passed away. I even wrote an essay in junior high to commorate him. Are you saying he might not be dead?"
In an instant, the question silenced Zheng Xiweng, who looked at Qiao Yu suspiciously, hesitated for a long ti, but still didn’t respond.
He truly wasn’t sure if Qiao Yu knew about this.
The crux of the matter is, if Qiao Yu doesn’t know, he shouldn’t find out from .
Dealing with mathematicians is such a nuisance!
