If it were anyone else in the world, Qiao Yu would probably already be considering how to make a polite exit by now...

Are you kidding ? A box lunch to persuade a mathematician who just won the Fields dal to help review your paper? That’s downright outrageous.

But this was Qiao Xi, so not only did Qiao Yu not want to leave, he even forgot the good news he wanted to share, only feeling curious.

Since coming to Beijing, Qiao Xi had been attending classes, studying. He didn’t even know what his mom was actually learning.

Judging from the grades, they were just average. But considering Qiao Xi’s age, her average grades were actually quite impressive.

"Where’s the paper? Let see it."

"Eat first, it’ll get cold later."

"Logically, isn’t it better to eat cold food in the sumr?"

"I said eat first!"

"Okay, but at least tell what problem your paper solves first, right?"

Feeling helpless, Qiao Yu simply asked while helping Qiao Xi open the lunch box.

He was silently thinking to himself, Qiao Xi still hasn’t developed the mind of a mathematician. After all, for a mathematician, discussing a new paper is clearly more important than eating.

Not to ntion it’s still sumr.

"Do you rember when you insisted that I proposed a conjecture?"

Qiao Xi responded casually.

Qiao Yu suddenly realized.

It was because Qiao Xi posed this question that he thought his mom had a real knack for mathematics.

"The Stable Upper Bound Conjecture? You’ve proven it? And found that function?" Qiao Yu asked curiously.

"No."

Qiao Xi shook her head: "I just constructed a preliminary form of the function, but it only applies to specific types of curves. This includes elliptic curves and so low deficiency hyperelliptic curves.

Elder Yuan said my next task is to expand the function’s applicability and rigorously prove its asymptotic behavior. Of course, the ultimate goal is to prove that it trends towards a stable value in the case of high deficiency."

As they spoke, the lunch boxes had all been opened, and Qiao Yu sat there eating his al without much enthusiasm.

Truth be told, being used to grand topics and having just received the Fields dal, Qiao Yu suddenly felt a bit uninterested when he heard about the problem Qiao Xi was solving.

A bit disappointed, he initially thought that after such a long period of study, Qiao Xi’s first paper would at least completely solve this conjecture. He never imagined it would just address a small part of it.

It wasn’t even particularly difficult. This level of paper wouldn’t stand a chance in the "Big Four" journals, maybe just an average first-tier journal at most, especially with Elder Yuan and his reputation involved.

"What’s with that expression? This paper is very aningful to . At the international math conference, Elder Yuan introduced to many professors who guided to the completion of this work."

Qiao Xi gave Qiao Yu a glare as she spoke.

Qiao Yu raised his left hand and pointed at himself, saying: "Um...aren’t you forgetting there’s a teacher right here?"

"Is your skin tingling for a beating?" Qiao Xi tilted her head and asked seriously.

"Haha, I’m just kidding." Qiao Yu laughed awkwardly.

Qiao Xi’s serious expression was very dangerous, because when it ca down to it, his mom didn’t hold back when she got hands-on. She’d pinch where it hurt, not causing major injury but real pain nonetheless.

"By the way, what good news do you have?" Seeing Qiao Yu behaving now, Qiao Xi asked.

"My National Science Foundation project got approved," Qiao Yu boasted proudly.

"Why is that good news? On the night you won the award, Elder Yuan enthusiastically chatted with until 1 a.m. Repeatedly, he ntioned that if you applied for a project again, nobody would overlook it," Qiao Xi replied dismissively.

She ca to Huaqing University to fulfill an unfinished college dream.

Qiao Xi truly never intended to apply for any National Science Foundation or win any awards. She pursued mathematics just because she was thrown into it.

Without much ambition, she didn’t have many thoughts on those projects either.

"This project is different. If it truly achieves the objectives of my previous project plan, we’ll be set. Let’s just say, rember my grand life goal I ntioned? It’ll be realized in no ti!"

Qiao Yu proclaid with satisfaction.

"Your idea to tear down and rebuild Railway New Village?" Qiao Xi asked in surprise.

"Yes! Isn’t it cool? If my project is successful, it’ll definitely be achievable. After all, the new technology I’m working with addresses not the currency issue, but the issue of a new generation of productivity and relationships of production."

"You’re that confident?"

"Of course."

"Then I wish you success. Also, checking my paper won’t delay your important work, right?"

"Hey, the news isn’t public yet; Director Tian inford . But regardless, you can rest assured, Qiao Xi, I guarantee you’ll be set for life!"

"Qiao Xi?"

"Mom, on such a happy day, let’s not sweat the small stuff, okay?"

"Hehe..."

...

Qiao Yu often criticized the matter of Huaxia parents placing identity above all.

But there was nothing to be done; the millennia-old bloodline pressure couldn’t simply be broken by him protesting.

He spent the afternoon obediently helping Qiao Xi review her paper.

While it couldn’t be said to be of high value, Qiao Yu found it had quite a few highlights nonetheless.

Although the tools used weren’t particularly innovative, the thod of proof was sowhat novel.

If Qiao Yu had to give an evaluation, it would probably be satisfactory.

But one thing was certain, Qiao Xi indeed had a talent for mathematics. At least the proof process was ticulous and logical; he could hardly find any flaws.
