The person who rarely smiles becos particularly charming when they suddenly do.

On the last night of the academic conference, soone suggested going out for a walk. Tristan Lockwood wasn’t interested and was checking if there were suitable flights to reschedule and return early.

This business trip lasted only three days, not long, but this ti, he suddenly had a strong urge to go back early to see Claire Hale.

Actually, once they return, he and she have to face the reality of divorce, but ultimately, the decision on when to divorce was still in his hands.

In the past two days, after trying to get along peacefully with her, Tristan was feeling a bit reluctant.

At least until this enthusiasm fades, he is actually quite willing to continue maintaining this marriage with her.

"Checking flights? In a hurry to see the one in your heart?"

Zoey Adler suddenly teased, looking at him with an ambiguous expression.

Tristan Lockwood put away his phone, his expression cold, clearly not wanting to engage with her.

Zoey Adler didn’t care about his indifference. After all, he was unmarried, and she was single. Even if Tristan had soone in his heart or already a girlfriend, she still saw it as an opportunity to win him over.

"Going out, in contact with people every day, haven’t you thought about bringing back so gifts?" Zoey comnted on his mood, saying, "Bags, shoes, clothes, and costics, won love these things. If you bring back a whole batch, maybe she’ll be won over."

Tristan paused, seemingly really considering the suggestion.

Actually, Claire was never that particular about dressing up with exquisite care.

Her style has always been simple and pure, seldom wearing brand nas, probably because her foundation was so strong that everything looked good on her.

"Alright, let’s go then," Tristan said.

When the others saw him change his mind, the surrounding Zoey was beaming, and they couldn’t help but tease, "Dr. Adler always has her ways; Dr. Lockwood is not soone who changes his mind easily!"

Zoey naturally wouldn’t deny it, her smile even brighter.

Tristan had little interest in participating in this kind of banter and took a step towards the rented car.

As soon as he sat in the driver’s seat, Zoey followed and sat in the passenger seat.

Tristan frowned: "Get out."

Zoey wasn’t annoyed, instead gazing at him with a smile, saying, "Dr. Lockwood, be kind and give a lift."

Seeing his indifferent expression, she rolled her eyes and added, "It’s easy for n to make mistakes buying gifts for won; I’ll help you choose, is that okay?"

Tristan glanced at her indifferently, then started the car.

Zoey, having co from a good background and loving to dress up, naturally also had high tastes. The things she liked were basically the most expensive.

Though Tristan didn’t know if Claire would like them, expensive things were generally a safe bet, so he swiped his card without batting an eye.

Zoey inadvertently glanced at the bill — it was in the seven figures. Tristan really was willing to spend for the person in his heart.

It’s known that to win over a man, power, money, and beauty — as long as one of these is claid, it’s usually enough.

And these three, in the order of a man’s priorities, decrease down the list.

Now, with Tristan willing to spend without a blink for beauty, it indicated that he valued beauty quite a bit.

At least in the short term, beauty was more important to Tristan than money.

Passing by the jewelry store, Tristan’s gaze unintentionally swept across the counter, then stopped.

Zoey followed his line of sight and was imdiately stunned.

It was a necklace with two interlocking rings, the design very simple, without any superfluous pendants.

However, those two rings looked just like wedding rings.

The implications of a man buying a ring are quite clear.

Zoey suddenly felt a sense of crisis.

She looked at Tristan, whose gaze was still on the necklace, then shifted to the shop assistant, asking for the price.

Tristan’s attire and aura made it obvious to anyone that he was soone with money. The sharp-eyed shop assistant naturally greeted him with enthusiasm, eagerly describing the piece.

Zoey heard that the necklace was just a sample; since it needed eralds set, the real item required special customization with a seven-figure price tag.

Her heart sank again.

A man from an elite family like Tristan, despite being wealthy, isn’t casually extravagant with won. The fact that he’d give a gift like this made Zoey even more curious about the woman.

The shop assistant, seeing Zoey beside Tristan, assud that he wanted to buy it for her and suggested, "Sir, you could have your girlfriend try it first. Although it’s a sample, the resemblance is high; if it looks good, the real piece will look even better once it arrives."

Zoey’s eyes sparkled, and without giving Tristan a chance to speak, she imdiately said, "I’ll try it."

The shop assistant smiled and gently took out the sample, putting it on Zoey.

With her slender neck, even the sample’s two rings resting on her collarbone sparkled brilliantly, portraying her as even fairer and more beautiful.

Tristan’s gaze deepened.

He asked, "How long does customization take?"

The shop assistant smiled, "Very fast, it can be delivered to you in three days."

"The day after tomorrow," Tristan stated concisely, "I want it then."

The shop assistant: "No problem, I’ll place a rush order for you."

"Alright."

At that instant when Tristan withdrew his gaze from Zoey, in his peripheral vision, Claire was standing not far away, quietly watching them.

Her face expressionless, but in her round black almond eyes, there shone a kind of indescribable complex emotion.

Tristan frowned slightly, while Zoey suddenly grasped his arm and whispered in his ear: "You think this necklace looks good on too, right? Was it a little surprising? Are you considering giving one too?"

Zoey didn’t actually see Claire.

She just noticed a montary emotion in Tristan’s eyes, thinking she had impressed him, making her bolder.

Zoey’s slight swaying blocked Tristan’s sight.

"Move aside."

His voice was chillingly cold, as if from an ice cellar. Without waiting for Zoey to react, he pushed her off his arm.

Yet, looking back to the earlier direction, Claire was nowhere to be seen.

Her appearance was sudden, her disappearance as abrupt, as if the mont before was just his illusion.

On the way back to the hotel, Zoey clearly sensed Tristan was rather absent-minded, his expression cold, barely speaking to her.

When the car arrived at the hotel, Tristan didn’t enter the underground garage but stopped at the hotel entrance and told her: "Get out."

As Zoey opened the car door, Tristan reached into the pile of gift bags in the backseat, pulled one out, and threw it to her.
