Erald green guardrails surrounded the rooftop, and as the spring breeze passed through the sh, it lifted the golden wisps of hair on the girl’s shoulders.
With her right hand pressing down on her sky-blue pleated skirt, she stood there, straight as a rod, her eyes downcast as she said, "Impossible."
Phoenix Academy Maggie’s voice wasn’t as calm as usual, tinged with a hint of coldness, her heart filled with so disappointnt.
This sense of loss wasn’t just about Hojo Tetsuji, but also about Aozawa.
She wanted to leave this place imdiately, yet she didn’t move her feet, remaining in place.
Phoenix Academy Maggie wouldn’t run away.
Hojo Tetsuji looked up and said, "Miss, I haven’t even said what it is yet."
"There’s no need to say it, Tetsuji. You are a good person, but you’re not my type. I can’t possibly accept you."
Phoenix Academy Maggie shook her head.
She rely saw Hojo Tetsuji as a friend, but never expected that her friendship would be misconstrued by him as an opportunity.
What’s more, Aozawa was actually egging him on to confess.
It was very disappointing to her.
Hojo Tetsuji was bewildered and replied, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about. I just wanted to ask you to join the manga club and put in so good words for to Yoshikawa. What does that have to do with whether you accept or not?"
The disappointnt inside Phoenix Academy Maggie froze in an instant, her body and soul gradually turning to stone, her fair skin seeming to turn a rough gray-white.
She swallowed hard and ventured, "You knelt and begged just for this?"
"Yeah."
Hojo Tetsuji nodded.
Aozawa, unable to contain his laughter, blurted out, "HAHA! Maggie, you didn’t think Tetsuji called you up here to confess to you, did you? There’s no need to say it, Tetsuji, you’re a good person."
Hearing Aozawa mock her in that strange tone, Phoenix Academy Maggie lost her composure. A rosy blush like an evening glow surged onto her fair cheeks as she roared, "Aozawa! Shut your mouth! Say one more word, and I’ll silence you forever!"
Watching soone’s eyes bulge, as if they might transform into a dusa ready to kill in the next second.
Aozawa decisively covered his mouth with both hands, but the mirth in his eyes still couldn’t escape Phoenix Academy Maggie’s notice.
It gave her the urge to climb over the guardrail and shout, "I am a narcissist!" before jumping down from the rooftop.
The Earth could no longer contain her existence!
Hojo Tetsuji also caught on and said in annoyance, "Miss, what are you thinking? My heart will always belong to Yoshikawa."
"Alright, alright, I get it. I’m sorry, it was all my presumptuousness and narcissism."
Phoenix Academy Maggie had to admit her earlier mistake and, correcting her expression, said, "But as for that matter you ntioned, my answer is still the sa. No way!"
Her voice was firm, not willing to approach Yoshikawa Sayuri with that kind of intention.
Hearing her response, Hojo Tetsuji hastily pleaded, "Miss, please, think of my happiness and help out this ti!"
"Maggie, can you really bear to see him remain single for a lifeti?" Aozawa chid in, "Just help him out this one ti."
"No."
Phoenix Academy Maggie shook her head and walked towards the staircase.
Hojo Tetsuji called out loudly, "Miss, if you don’t agree, I’ll keep kneeling here until you do!"
"Suit yourself."
Phoenix Academy Maggie left without looking back.
Hojo Tetsuji turned his head to glance at Aozawa and asked, "Is this okay?"
"Of course. I believe Maggie will surely soften," Aozawa reassured him. He quickly caught up to Phoenix Academy Maggie, but before he could speak, she cut him off.
"Don’t try to persuade !"
"I didn’t intend to persuade you. I just hope you can think it over. We are friends with Tetsuji. When a friend seeks happiness, how could a good friend not give support?"
Aozawa knew Phoenix Academy Maggie’s personality well.
Trying to get her to befriend Yoshikawa Sayuri by arguing it was for her own sake—to make a new friend—would deeply wound her pride and could damage their own friendship. However, framing it as helping a friend, and making friends with Yoshikawa in the process, had a high chance of getting Phoenix Academy Maggie to agree. Of course, she wouldn’t agree right away; she’d need so ti to think it over before possibly consenting.
"HMPH."
Phoenix Academy Maggie answered with a disdainful snort, but inwardly, she was troubled.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to help Hojo Tetsuji; she just doubted her own ability to make friends. Past experiences had taught her that if she didn’t resort to the insincere thods of the Phoenix Academy and instead showed her true personality, making friends would be very difficult. Not everyone was as tolerant as Aozawa and Hojo Tetsuji. Her previous loneliness in class—was it because she didn’t want to make friends? The key was, she *couldn’t* make any!
Phoenix Academy Maggie lanted inwardly.
She, too, longed for the nourishnt of friendship. Attending Brilliant High School was precisely to make genuine friends. Otherwise, with her family’s wealth, she would not have been at this high school. But reality often differed from imagination. For the young lady, it was hard to gain friendship from other girls.
...
「Two class periods passed.」
Hojo Tetsuji’s seat remained empty.
Aozawa closed his textbook and sighed, "If this keeps up, we’ll probably be able to collect Tetsuji’s body. What’s the number for the funeral ho, do you think?"
"You don’t need to say these things. I know what to do," Phoenix Academy Maggie responded helplessly.
She knew that with Hojo Tetsuji’s stubborn nature, he would likely keep kneeling until she agreed.
Single-celled organisms are such a hassle!
Phoenix Academy Maggie sighed internally, stood up, left the classroom, and walked all the way to the rooftop along the staircase.
The bright sunshine spread across the rooftop.
Hojo Tetsuji was not shirking. He was kneeling there seriously. One must show the proper attitude when asking for a favor.
"Well," Phoenix Academy Maggie said, standing at the doorway, her arms crossed as she leaned on the doorfra. "Fine, I agree to your request. But I want to make it clear, even if I join the manga club, I might not beco friends with Yoshikawa and the others."
"Miss, thank you so much! When Yoshikawa and I get married, I’ll definitely ask you to be a bridesmaid!"
Hojo Tetsuji quickly stood up from the ground, his face full of vigor, as if he could already see his future walking down the aisle with Yoshikawa Sayuri.
Phoenix Academy Maggie slapped her forehead, saying vexedly, "Would you at least listen to !"
"Miss, you’re a girl, after all, so you must want your wedding to be romantic, right?"
"Yes."
Phoenix Academy Maggie nodded and then suddenly realized she shouldn’t have agreed with Hojo Tetsuji’s remark.
"Great! I need to work hard at part-ti jobs to save money. Do you think thirty thousand Yen is enough for a trip to Paris?"
"Not sure. My family has an airplane."
Phoenix Academy Maggie, who traveled abroad on the Phoenix Academy’s private jet, had never bought a ticket and had no idea how much one cost.
Hojo Tetsuji’s face was a picture of shock as he said, "You’re actually a *real* ’Miss’?!"
Phoenix Academy Maggie replied nonchalantly, "It’s alright. Let’s not talk about this now. Let’s go down."
"Right."
Hojo Tetsuji quietly calculated in his mind how much money it would take to hold a wedding in Paris, traveling from Tokyo.
