With those words, the black cloth covering Ruriko Yokoo's eyes was removed. Freed from the darkness, she cautiously opened her eyes and found herself in a dimly lit small room. Her hands were tied behind her back to a chair. Standing before her was a tall, blond foreign man wearing gold-rimd glasses.
She looked down at her clothes and was relieved to find she wasn't missing any; she was still dressed in her sumr school uniform. At the very least, her chastity was preserved.
"Who are you?"
"Miss Yokoo, we are an organization you cannot afford to provoke." Robert spoke with an air of superiority as he circled behind the chair to untie Ruriko Yokoo's ropes. "Soon your little boyfriend will co charging in here.
"At the mont he opens the door, I hope you can use rational words to calm him down and encourage him to cooperate with us.
"His ability to cleave bullets with his knife and beat a handgun within ten paces is his skill.
"But he definitely cannot beat this Vulcan Machine Gun, which can fire 6,600 rounds per minute.
"To shred a human body, it wouldn't even take a second."
Ruriko Yokoo looked at the Vulcan Machine Gun to her left. Ammunition belts were piled in boxes, resembling products on a factory assembly line. The rows of dark barrels made Ruriko Yokoo realize the terrifying destruction this killing machine would unleash once it started firing. In front of the machine gun, a human body was probably as fragile as paper.
"I understand," Ruriko said, nodding repeatedly. She didn't know who the man in front of her was, but she understood that she and Sunaga Takashi had better not resist them.
"A wise decision." Robert patted her shoulder with a smile. "If you cooperate with us, you'll gain wealth beyond imagination.
"We are always very generous to talent.
"Don't take the unpleasantness earlier to heart; we were just doing our duty."
His attitude was now gentle, a complete change from the cruelty he had displayed when he wanted to kill Ruriko Yokoo in front of Jack. His actions were not born from inherent cruelty but were calculated based on United States interests.
In Robert's view, Ruriko Yokoo, a re ordinary person, wasn't worth luring; killing her was the most reliable thod. But Sunaga Takashi's strength made Robert change his mind. After all, this was a high school student who could kill two ard CIA agents. Such ruthlessness and power proved that Sunaga Takashi was no ordinary person.
Robert knew that there were always so abnormally strong people in the world. Previously, the pinnacle for such individuals was the strength to kill an elephant with their bare hands. But after the CIA discovered Superpowers, the most terrifying human potential beca Superpowers. And those closest to these Superpowers were undoubtedly individuals who possessed special innate talents. For example, there are people in this world who can hold their breath for 24 minutes and 33 seconds. To ordinary people, such a record seems as unbelievable as a myth; for most, holding their breath for two minutes is already an extraordinary feat. This proved that the disparities between people weren't just in wealth and status but also in physical capabilities.
The CIA had always been keen on recruiting people with special talents into its ranks. Especially when facing Dio, the Superpower User, Robert wanted to gather as many special talents as possible to serve Arican interests. This strategic thinking allowed him to adopt a completely different deanor than before.
His seemingly warm smile invoked a deep-seated fear in Ruriko Yokoo; she could detect no trace of kindness. Is there sothing wrong with this man's mind? she wondered. He had brutally beaten her just monts ago, and now he was all smiles, telling her to act as if nothing had happened. How could it have never happened? The pain in Ruriko Yokoo's stomach and on her face was proof of the cruel treatnt she had endured. But Ruriko Yokoo dared not express her anger. She feared for what might happen to Sunaga Takashi.
"I understand," she said.
"Such a well-behaved girl is truly endearing." Robert stroked Ruriko Yokoo's head. "This is our base," he said with a smile, then introduced, "In Shinjuku Kabukicho Ni-cho, it looks like a three-story apartnt building. I have stationed twenty of my subordinates here, all ard. They will create so obstacles for your little boyfriend along the way, but I think it's fine; he will still make it here eventually."
Robert then turned and caressed the Vulcan Machine Gun beside him, his fingers gliding over the cold barrel as tenderly as if stroking a lover's skin.
Ruriko Yokoo was astonished. "I've agreed to cooperate with you; why still do this?"
Robert laughed. "This is a trial given by God.
"We need elites, not trash.
"If he can't slay those who obstruct him and stand before , then he does not qualify to join our organization.
"Don't worry, I still have high hopes for his strength."
Ruriko Yokoo bit her lip; her recent experiences felt surreal. Out of nowhere, the manslayer Hazama had appeared, and then this vast, dark organization had abducted her from school. They beat her, interrogated her, and now they were putting Sunaga Takashi through a test, casually using their subordinates' lives for such a purpose. What an utterly cruel man. Is this Tokyo? The question surfaced in her mind, making her doubt if any of this was real. But such doubts could be dispelled with the slightest movent. The pain in her body was proof she wasn't dreaming. All of this was real.
Gao Shi, please be safe, Ruriko Yokoo prayed in her heart, hoping he would be unhard.
At that mont, Aozawa also noticed the anomaly in this apartnt building.
Kabukicho wasn't particularly large. Aozawa only needed a quick survey to pick out an apartnt that promised an interesting challenge. Inside were twenty-two people. Twenty of them were ard with guns, and there were also fearso-looking machine guns. These weapons obviously went beyond what the Yakuza would typically possess and suggested a strong connection to the Self-Defense Forces. There was also a girl who had clearly been beaten by them.
From the conversation Aozawa overheard, he knew these guards were there to test one person. Such a grand display rely to deal with a single individual. This sparked a trace of curiosity in Aozawa about that person, and he decided to take matters into his own hands, joining this little ga of a trial.
Aozawa slipped through the door. Using his Catalyst sensing ability, he had already mapped out the personnel deploynt within the entire apartnt. Six people on the ground floor, ten on the second floor, and five on the third floor, plus a young female hostage. The entire apartnt had no surveillance installed.
A cabinet was placed in the entrance hall. A man was hiding behind it, his gun's safety already off, waiting to shoot outwards. Aozawa floated forward and used his Transformation ability, morphing himself into Dio, the muscular Egyptian Queen, then switched to Schrödinger's existence state. His towering physique solidified, materializing from the void.
Aozawa silently stood behind the man, his shadow cast upon the cabinet. His right hand touched the man's cheek, activating his Marked Detonation ability.
"Stop ssing around," the guard muttered. He thought it was a colleague joking with him and turned his head, intending to tell them off, but he quickly realized the person before him was a stranger.
Aozawa activated the Marked Detonation ability. A black pattern consud the man's body in an instant. The thought of "explosion" ford in Aozawa's mind, and he clearly saw cracks spiderweb across the pattern on the man's body.
With a faint booming sound, akin to a cheap hair dryer suddenly cranked to maximum, flas and black smoke burst from the man's body, then rapidly dissipated. The ground and cabinet showed no trace of the man's existence, including his clothes and pistol, which had been obliterated in the blast. Such a terrifying explosion had left no damage on the ground or walls, demonstrating remarkably precise control of force.
Aozawa looked at his own hands; the impact of the explosion was so delightful it felt like a magnificent form of art. No, art is an explosion! He finally understood Deidara's feelings: possessing the ability to destroy anything creates an artistic appreciation for the things destroyed.
Aozawa turned, his gaze catching another man hiding behind the door.
Danilo was stunned. As a CIA agent chosen by Robert to partake in this trial, his abilities were naturally outstanding. He had dealt with drug traffickers in xico, survived gunfights, and completed nurous major missions. He considered himself a senior agent who had seen his share of major operations. But he had never seen anything like this. Soone had appeared out of thin air, caressed his colleague's face, and then his colleague had exploded, leaving nothing behind. What kind of new explosive was this? Danilo racked his brain but couldn't imagine that such a bomb existed in the world.
"What the hell did you do?" he shouted agitatedly and imdiately pulled the trigger.
BANG! The loud gunshot alerted the others, serving as the "starting bell" for the trial.
A gray filter enveloped Aozawa's eyes. The bullet seed to freeze in mid-air. Aozawa reached out, used Marked Detonation to mark the bullet, and then continued walking forward. His right hand touched the cheek of Danilo, the man of African descent. Black patterns covered his side face.
Marked Detonation could target two subjects simultaneously, Aozawa concluded, and let ti flow again.
His palm was still on Danilo's face. Danilo felt the warmth on his cheek; his pupils dilated. He turned his head, his eyes conveying a desperate plea. But he was t with a pair of icy eyes. He never thought a person's gaze could be so chilling yet exude such an eerie charm, like honey-laced poison.
"No!" As Danilo scread, Aozawa initiated the detonation.
Danilo felt a blaze erupt from his core, as if every organ and all the flesh beneath his skin had turned to gunpowder. He erupted into a dazzling pyrotechnic display, black smoke billowing from the explosion before rapidly vanishing, leaving the air clear.
Aozawa continued towards his next target.
