Can a sword really not defeat a bullet? Sunaga Takashi's mind flickered with this doubt. He knew of an Iaido Master who once used Iaido sword-drawing techniques to face off against a 332 km/h BB pellet and split it in half with a single stroke.

Cleaving a bullet with a sword isn't impossible.

The biggest obstacle is that ordinary people can't capture and react to the speed of a bullet.

His body and vision should have no problem with this.

The reason he said "should" is that even he couldn't be 100% sure; the fantasies in his mind always had a slight gap with reality.

He had never stood face-to-face with an ard person, so he couldn't guarantee that he could split a bullet.

He also couldn't be sure about the quality of a real sword. To split a bullet, the material of the blade must be extrely good to do so without chipping the edge.

Sunaga Takashi was thinking about all these things.

Beside him, Ruriko Yokoo patted his shoulder and said, "Gao Shi, you're not thinking about sothing dangerous, are you?"

"No."

Sunaga Takashi didn't reveal his inner thoughts. So things would only turn Ruriko into a chatterbox if he told her.

"Just don't be like Hazama. That guy was too arrogant, and that's why he got killed."

Ruriko Yokoo spoke with disdain, "What era is this to be running around with a sword, engaging in dangerous acts like murder?"

"Mhm," Sunaga Takashi responded.

A hint of confusion appeared on Ruriko Yokoo's face as she said, "A person dies in Tokyo, and there's no reporting at all? Or did I miss so news about it?"

At this point, she took out her phone and started searching for information on Hazama.

At this very mont, like a butterfly caught in a spider's web, her search for Hazama's na on her phone swiftly allowed the CIA to lock onto it. The next second, tech personnel pulled up all sorts of selfies and chat records from the girl's phone, examining why she was searching for a na that had been sealed off. Because Dio was the one who killed Hazama, it was possible that the person searching for this na could be Dio, wanting to see the public reaction after the cri.

The related report was quickly submitted to Jack's desk.

"Minister Jack, today at 1:31:45 p.m., a high school girl nad Ruriko Yokoo searched for Hazama's na. She attends Kamiya High School, and her family ho is in Ota Ward. Her parents are mainly in the foreign trade business, with their primary sales network in..."

In a very short ti, Robert gathered Ruriko Yokoo's biographical and family details, compiled them into a report for Jack, and began his briefing.

If this were before, Jack would have marveled at how excellent his assistant was. Now, however, a sense of fear gripped his heart. The reason was simple. He had already said that so matters didn't need to go through Robert. But his commands were of no use within this departnt. As always, all intelligence was first handed to Robert and then passed on to him, making it abundantly clear that he was essentially being circumvented from below. The real leader of this departnt was Robert.

He wasn't sure if this was Officer John's intention, or if even Officer John hadn't realized it.

But he was clear that he wasn't content with being bypassed.

He had to find a way to wrest control back from Robert's hands.

This was sothing the forr Jack wouldn't have thought about.

But once a person sits in such a position, it's hard to remain content with diocrity.

He wanted to seize the power he deserved.

"Robert, what do you think about this?"

Jack maintained a calm expression, striving to hide any signs of disgust.

"I think it's necessary to check it out. For an ordinary high school girl to suddenly search for this na, sothing must have happened to pique her interest."

"Then send soone to investigate."

"Okay."

Robert nodded and turned to leave.

Suddenly, Jack spoke up, "Robert, I heard the higher-ups rejected your poison gas project."

Robert stopped in his tracks, turned back with a smile, and said, "Yes, but I believe that ultimately they will co to realize the reality and agree to the plan. If you have no other business, I must get back to work."

"Go ahead."

Jack waved him off. After Robert left, Jack wiped the sweat from his forehead. Working with soone like Robert—outwardly gentle but inwardly extre—is incredibly stressful.

Of course, if he weren't striving for power, having a subordinate like Robert would actually be a relief.

That man always managed to get everything done that needed to be done.

But Jack didn't like it.

He pushed aside the report about Ruriko and picked up the docunts beneath it, his expression turning thoughtful. The docunts showed that Yuzuki Suzuko, who was under surveillance, had found a new employer.

This wasn't strange. When people lose their jobs, they look for new ones.

The key was that this new employer was Curtis Leinhardt, an ICPO Interpol officer.

Considering how Mayers had referred to Yuzuki Suzuko, Jack couldn't help but suspect an intimate connection between Curtis and Mayers.

As for why an Interpol agent had co to Tokyo, it could only be related to Dio.

The specific reason was beyond Jack's clearance level; he couldn't know too much about what was happening with his superiors.

He only knew that Russia had issued a red notice for Dio and dispatched an Interpol officer to investigate the case.

Was the KGB operating behind the scenes?

That was unclear.

Jack stroked his chin.

Yuzuki Suzuko was one of the few who knew Dio was a Superpower User.

The CIA had never relaxed its surveillance on her, to prevent her from spreading the news that Dio was a Superpower User.

Whether at ho or outside, Yuzuki Suzuko's every move was under CIA control.

The reason they hadn't silenced her yet was that the CIA was eager to get clues from her.

Had Mayers left any clues before he died?

This was what the CIA's higher-ups wanted to figure out.

And Curtis's sudden move to hire Yuzuki Suzuko intensified Jack's suspicions.

From which channel had Curtis learned about Yuzuki Suzuko? And why choose her?

Perhaps Yuzuki Suzuko would provide the answer.

The mont Yuzuki Suzuko was hired as Curtis's assistant, the CIA had already turned her into one of their own.

This had nothing to do with her wishes. If she didn't agree, she would die.

In Japan, not even the Pri Minister could save soone the CIA wanted dead.

「Tokyo Haneda Airport.」

Yuzuki Suzuko stood at the arrival gate, holding an English sign. Compared to the colorful letters and smiley faces on the sign, her expression was ice-cold. Even with her indifferent nature, being under surveillance by various forces had inevitably caused her so irritation.

Having even the number of tis she went to the bathroom recorded by different people is truly not a pleasant experience.

Even though she had agreed to join the CIA, the surveillance wouldn't relax.

The reason was simple: the CIA didn't trust her. Without gaining their trust, any relaxation of surveillance was out of the question.

She had really been dragged into a very troubleso matter by that bastard Mayers.

The reason she cursed Mayers was that only after cremating his clothes and hair did Yuzuki Suzuko realize that while the bastard had left behind a sizable inheritance, his debts were even greater. If she were to inherit that half of the estate, she would have to repay the huge debts Mayers had accrued.

Learning this, Yuzuki Suzuko wished she could fish the ashes of Mayers's clothes and hair out of the sea and throw them into a cesspit.

Such a waste of her money for the sea burial.

For a person to be such an animal, to that degree, was truly in a league of its own.

To this day, Yuzuki Suzuko still wished she could flog Mayers's corpse.

All her troubles had been caused by that bastard, who even set traps for her with his inheritance!

He deserved to die ten thousand tis over!

With these unpleasant thoughts swirling in her mind, Yuzuki Suzuko exuded such a dark aura that nearby tourists chose to walk around her.

A plane landed, and a throng of people poured out from the arrivals gate. Among them was a woman with long, golden hair, dressed in a Hawaiian style, wearing sandals. Her toenails were painted with bright red polish. She wore sunglasses, scanned the area, then walked up to Yuzuki Suzuko's sign and smiled. "Hello, Miss Yuzuki."

The fluent Japanese surprised Yuzuki Suzuko. "You speak Japanese?"

"Of course. As an ICPO officer, I've mastered thirty-six languages and am familiar with the cultural customs of over fifty countries."

Curtis took off her sunglasses. Her erald-like eyes stared at Yuzuki Suzuko as she smiled. "You must be curious why I chose you as an assistant online, right?"

"You aren't related to Mayers, are you? No, that guy shouldn't have any relatives!"

Looking into those erald eyes, Yuzuki Suzuko felt a strangely familiar sensation, as if being watched by a certain dead bastard.

"I severed sibling ties with him long ago. I stopped thinking of that bastard Mayers as family a long ti ago. I swear, I'll never forgive him for the things he's done."

Curtis explained her relationship with Mayers: they were once family, but later beca mortal enemies. "Being by his side, you must understand just how hopeless he was. When I was sixteen, I fell in love with a boy nad Mike. Within three weeks, Mike disappeared. His case remains an unsolved missing person in Moscow to this day. The police ruled it a runaway, but I knew Mayers killed Mike. He said he was curious which of Mike's genes were special enough to attract . Such a ridiculous reason for murder."

"Forgive for being blunt, but if that guy wanted to kill soone, he wouldn't have left any clues for you to find."

Yuzuki Suzuko, despite her extre disgust for Mayers, had to admit the man was a high-IQ genius.

Curtis shook her head. "I don't know what he was thinking. Since that day, we went our separate ways. I resolved to beco a police officer and arrest that inhuman monster. He left Moscow three years ago and settled in Japan. I chose to beco an ICPO officer because I believed he would inevitably commit another cri, so I keep a close watch on any news about him."

Yuzuki Suzuko asked doubtfully, "You hired ... it isn't to investigate the cause of Mayers's death, is it?"

"No, I have no interest in his death."

Curtis shook her head, her expression serious. "The higher-ups sent here to investigate a criminal nad Dio. Last March, Dio brutally murdered a young girl in Moscow and then fled the country. By the ti we received this information, Dio was already active in Tokyo. The higher-ups sent to investigate and extradite him back to Russia for trial."

"Is that so?" Yuzuki Suzuko nodded. This is all a fabrication, she thought.

Whether it was about Dio's case or her identity as Mayers's estranged sister, it all reeked of lies.

But she didn't expose it. She only felt that Tokyo was becoming a huge vortex, drawing people from all nations.

How long could the secret the CIA wanted to cover up last?

She hoped it would be exposed soon.

That would lessen her importance.
