Of course, there were also drawbacks, such as the fact that after moving to Tokyo, he would certainly not be able to act as recklessly as he had in Hokkaido, and there would also be far fewer opportunities to make money.

But in the view of Oda Take, these were not problems.

After all, having followed Fujimoto Takayoshi and made a fortune in Hokkaido, he had already secured his financial future; it was natural that he should now focus on pursuing his career.

"Mr. Oda is too polite," Aoyama Xiu Xin said, picking up a cup of water, "although I did recomnd you to my grandfather, he has always believed in using talent, and it was your own abilities that secured this opportunity." He raised his cup and continued, "With water instead of wine, I toast to your bright future, Minister."

"Thank you for your care, Mr. Aoyama," Oda Take promptly raised his cup to clink with his, acknowledging that since Aoyama Xiu Xin had recomnded him, and the Yanchuan Family had promoted him, he would of course belong to the Yanchuan Family after moving to Tokyo. Thus, he naturally deferred to Aoyama Xiu Xin, the Yanchuan Family’s adopted son.

It was unlike the ti in Hokkaido, when he, as Aoyama Xiu Xin’s superior, had always interacted with him as an equal.

Looking at his superior officer across the table, Aoyama Xiu Xin could already feel a tragic, thick wall arising between them; he had gone from being called "Brother Xun’er" to "my lord."

That feeling... was truly wonderful.

After his agreent with Oda Take, Aoyama Xiu Xin went to et Fujimoto Takayoshi that afternoon to discuss the matter.

It went without saying that he had to notify Fujimoto about transferring his person, otherwise he would certainly feel offended.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

"Co in."

Aoyama Xiu Xin pushed the door open and entered, "Director."

"Oh, Mr. Aoyama, what can I do for you?" Fujimoto Takayoshi set down his book, waiting to hear him speak.

From the details, you demonstrate your regard for him.

Closing the door, Aoyama Xiu Xin approached and cautiously chose his words, "Director, I just had a phone call with my grandfather, and he believes that after half a year in Hokkaido and achieving so results, it’s ti for to move up. So, he plans to transfer Minister Oda to Tokyo and have take over his responsibilities. I wanted to ask for your opinion and see if you have any suggestions."

Fujimoto Takayoshi was sowhat bewildered; it had only been half a year, but from Aoyama’s mouth, it sounded as if he had been here for years. Such a rapid rise; second-generation officials are truly despicable!

"That’s great news. Mr. Oda has waited many years, and now he can finally succeed by benefitting from your influence. If he has no objections, I will definitely support it." What could Fujimoto Takayoshi object to? Would his disagreent prevent the matter from proceeding?

They were asking him as a courtesy.

It wasn’t that they needed his approval!

If he said he didn’t agree, the transfer of the two n would still happen, and both Aoyama Xiu Xin and Oda Take would harbor resentnts against him because of it.

Furthermore, this wouldn’t undermine his own interests. Oda Take had been a loyal subordinate for many years, and his transfer to Tokyo ant that Fujimoto would have one more connection there—why wouldn’t he be pleased?

A win-win-win situation.

With a grin, Aoyama Xiu Xin said, "With your words, Director, I feel reassured. I’ll have a talk with Minister Oda later to see what he thinks."

In half a year’s ti, he had deeply integrated himself into the Hokkaido Police Headquarters and beco one of their own.

And by formally becoming the Director of the Criminal Affairs Departnt, both nominally and in practice, he would control the most important departnt of the police headquarters, and he could then begin his plan to seize power.

Fujimoto Takayoshi was different from Oda Take; Fujimoto only wanted to work in Hokkaido until retirent, so the tactic of transferring him to garner a promotion wouldn’t work.

He would have to coerce him to accept a promotion, or to retire early, then wait for a new Director without a foundation in Hokkaido to be appointed from above—that way, he himself could act with the full authority of the director.

Although this would be sowhat unfair to Fujimoto Takayoshi, given his ntorship and trust, there was no choice if he wanted to satisfy his lust for power.

At most, after Fujimoto Takayoshi was ousted, he would still treat him with the respect due to an elder, visiting often. This would serve both as a token compensation for the petty guilt in his heart and as a show for others, to avoid being labeled heartless.

This process required long-term planning, to complete the power grab without damaging his own reputation.

.........

After work, Aoyama Xiu Xin didn’t go ho but instead had Jin Yucheng drive him to the Land Guard Northern Area Supervision Departnt, which also served as the Command of Sapporo Garrison.

He had been visiting every other day or so recently, and the sentries at the gate already recognized his license plate.

So they just let him through and saluted as he passed.

The car stopped in front of an office building, where Aoyama Xiu Xin greeted every mid-rank officer he encountered on the way with ease, and they all responded warmly.

Over the past two months, all the mid-rank officers in the northern unit had received little gifts from him, and so of them were grateful even though they hadn’t t him.

Aoyama Xiu Xin went straight to the office of Ueda Hikoshu, the Supervisor of the Northern Area, and knocked on the door.

"Co in."

Aoyama Xiu Xin entered, smiling, "Mr. Ueda, I didn’t give you a heads-up. Hope I’m not interrupting anything?"

Behind the desk, Ueda Hikoshu looked about as big as Fujimoto Takayoshi, his belly tight against the table, resembling a slab of bacon.

The fattier kind.

"Not at all, not at all. I don’t have much work around this ti anyway," Ueda Hikoshu stood up eagerly, his potbelly leading the way.

Aoyama Xiu Xin made himself comfortable, picked up a cigarette from the coffee table, and lit one for himself, "No work, that’s perfect. Let’s call Mr. Fushan and a few other generals to drink. Tonight, we won’t stop until we’re all drunk."

Since he had been visiting frequently and continuously offering benefits, their friendship had grown deep.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Fushan is out inspecting the training of the Seventh Division. It will probably be a while before he’s back," Ueda Hikoshu shook his head, his chubby face squeezing out a sleazy smile, "If you’re in the mood to drink tonight, Mr. Aoyama, we can drink here. Our Northern Area music troupe’s female soldiers are all fair and beautiful, and I’m sure you’ll be satisfied when they put on their uniforms."

"That’s it, now the whole Land Guard knows I like the entertainnt troops, huh?" Aoyama Xiu Xin shook his head helplessly, "I’m so embarrassed!"

"Ha ha ha, it’s natural to desire, not just you, Mr. Aoyama, I like them too! And I believe any man would," Ueda Hikoshu laughed heartily.

Aoyama Xiu Xin flicked so ash, "But I’m more interested in tanks than the music troupe’s female soldiers. Is there any chance I can get my fix?"

What man doesn’t like driving a tank?

"That’s easy." Ueda Hikoshu replied nonchalantly, smiling after hearing this, "Mr. Fushan is inspecting the armored division; he probably won’t be back this weekend. I’ll have a guard take you to the Seventh Division’s station by then. Enjoy to your heart’s content, and if just driving tanks and shooting isn’t enough for you, I’ll personally report upwards and apply for a budget to arrange a brigade to play a real war ga with you under the na of an exercise!"

The Land Guard lacked everything but people.

"There’s no need for such a big fuss, just driving tanks is fine," Aoyama Xiu Xin refused repeatedly.

It sounded too absurd; doing a military exercise just to please him would cause an uproar if it leaked out.

"How can just driving tanks be satisfying? Mr. Aoyama, if you want to play, play to the fullest," Ueda Hikoshu declared with a grand gesture, "I’ll arrange for a couple of female officers to drive with you."

This really was a shattering of military discipline!

Aoyama Xiu Xin was tempted, he had tried car sex before, but not on an armored vehicle. Although the space inside a tank was cramped, it might still be manageable?

"I want the slim ones; I don’t fancy driving a tank inside a tank," Aoyama Xiu Xin stated with restraint.

Ueda Hikoshu was stunned montarily before dissolving into laughter, "Mr. Aoyama, you really are a piece of work!"

That description of a tank was indeed vivid.

That very night, Aoyama Xiu Xin ended up drinking and chatting in Ueda Hikoshu’s office until they were both dead drunk.

They even summoned the entertainnt soldiers to sing and dance for their rrint.

anwhile, elsewhere, Nozaki Cangjian had arranged for the Jack brothers and Nakamura Shinichi to et.
