Mrs. Abe, who was already emotionally unstable due to her pregnancy, suddenly bristled and stood up, shouting, "Why are you looking at ? Could it possibly be who hid it?"
"Report!" Just then, another voice ca from upstairs, drawing everyone’s attention.
A police officer poked his head over the third-floor railing and shouted down, "Inspector, we found a huge amount of cash under the sofa in the third-floor parlor. Please co and take a look."
"Keep an eye on them!" Mikuriya Shouta tosses down the order to the police guarding the door before rushing upstairs.
"This... How is this possible?" The Abe couple were also stunned, exchanging glances, sure that the black money hidden in their house had already been moved!
They hurriedly followed Mikuriya Shouta upstairs.
Upon arriving at the third-floor parlor, the room was in complete disarray, with various ornants, papers, and books scattered on the floor. The sofa had been moved aside, and where the sofa once was, there was now a small mountain of cash.
The Abe couple were as if struck by lightning, standing there dumbfounded.
Mikuriya Shouta snorted coldly and glared at Abe Ye Cheng with fury. "The ledger and the money were both found in your house. What excuse do you have now?"
Abe Ye Cheng’s mind was a ss. He couldn’t figure out how the ledger and so much money appeared so silently in his ho. How could this have happened?
"Wife... This... What’s going on?" Mrs. Abe, full of doubt and suspicion, looked at Abe Ye Cheng. With the evidence before her eyes, she couldn’t help but doubt.
Abe Ye Cheng’s mind was in turmoil, his thoughts too scattered to answer his wife’s questions. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the policen’s previously bulging tool bags were now deflated, without any tools taken out on the floor. He glanced back at the pile of money...
Boom!
It was as if thunder had struck his mind. He glared at Mikuriya Shouta, both shocked and furious. "You frad !"
Mrs. Abe froze for a mont, then also quickly realized the situation, staring at Mikuriya Shouta intently.
"How dare you! Abe Ye Cheng, with people and evidence clear, you still refuse to confess and instead vilify , this is sheer obstinacy!" Mikuriya Shouta rebuked righteously and signaled with a wave, "Take the photos for evidence imdiately and bring the suspect to headquarters for interrogation."
"Yes, sir!" The policen inside and outside the room responded in unison.
Then one officer took charge of taking photographs while two others, quick as lightning, grabbed Abe Ye Cheng from both sides. They pulled handcuffs out from behind their backs, trying to put them on him.
"Let go! You’re framing ! You’re slandering ! I will complain about this!"
Abe Ye Cheng struggled constantly, his hysterical screams aid at resisting, but to no avail. He was forcibly dragged out by the two policen, one on each side.
"Let go of my husband!" Mrs. Abe tried to step forward to stop them but was blocked by two other officers. She could only watch helplessly as her husband was dragged out of sight, her eyes red with tears, wailing loudly, "Husband! Husband! Wuuu, husband!"
"Call Chairman Mitsui! Call Miyashita Naoyuki!" Abe Ye Cheng, having been dragged downstairs, finally cald down a bit and shouted to his wife.
Mikuriya Shouta ordered, "Take the evidence and fall back!"
The police ca in a rush and left in haste.
In the vast villa, only Mrs. Abe remained, sitting powerlessly on the floor crying. After her emotions had sowhat stabilized, she ran into the parlor with tears streaming down her face to call her husband’s superior for help.
"Hello? Chairman Mitsui? I’m the wife of Abe Ye Cheng. The police just took him away on the grounds of organizing gambling. He’s been falsely accused. Please, you must help him! You must!"
"What? On what grounds are the police arresting soone? Do they have any evidence?" Chairman Mitsui was suddenly furious.
Beating a dog, you still have to look at its owner.
Mrs. Abe said with a choked voice, "Under the pretense of a search, they took the opportunity to plant a ledger and a large sum of cash in our house, framing it as evidence of ill-gotten gains."
Upon hearing that the police were also involved in the fra-up, Chairman Mitsui imdiately beca much calr. Soone capable of coercing the police to act so unjustly was certainly no ordinary puppeteer.
And they must have known that Abe Ye Cheng was his secretary, but they still did it, which ant they were not afraid of him bearing a grudge against them for this.
After so contemplation, Chairman Mitsui asked in a gentle tone, "Did you see the police place it?"
"No... I didn’t," replied Mrs. Abe.
Chairman Mitsui said, "Right, you didn’t see it with your own eyes. How can you be sure that those things weren’t Abe’s? If he really was involved in illegal activities, then wouldn’t my intervention to help him escape punishnt be breaking the law myself? I understand it’s hard for you to accept, but we must trust in the police’s impartiality. They won’t let a guilty person go free, nor will they wrong an innocent one. I’ll keep an eye on this matter. Let’s wait for the results together."
With that, he hung up the phone.
The investigative team had just made a major news break tonight, and he didn’t want to get entangled in complications at this ti.
As for whether Abe Ye Cheng would harbor a grudge against him for exposing so of his own wrongdoings, he was not worried. The person who sent Abe Ye Cheng to prison would not give him the chance to earn rit, nor would he!
That’s right, he wouldn’t just fail to co to the rescue.
He would kick a man when he was down.
It was just a pity to lose such a handy secretary, now he’d have to spend ti selecting and training soone new.
"Beep~ Beep~ Beep~"
Listening to the sound from the receiver, Mrs. Abe was stunned. Even as slow as she was, she could hear the disdain and perfunctoriness in the other party’s words.
Shocked and furious, no wonder her husband was so eager to break away from Mitsui. It wasn’t just for the sake of his career, but also because this bastard was inherently cold-hearted. Even a dog raised for so many years would develop feelings, but he was capable of abandoning his long-serving secretary without a second thought!
"Idiot!" Mrs. Abe cursed resentfully and, feeling helpless, could only dial Miyashita Naoyuki, "Mr. Miyashita, this is..."
"Mrs. Abe, what’s wrong, is there a problem with our child?" Miyashita Naoyuki, on the other end, recognized her voice and asked anxiously.
Mrs. Abe said, "No, it’s my husband who’s in trouble. He’s been taken by the police. Mr. Miyashita, please help him. He’s been frad!"
"That quickly," Miyashita Naoyuki muttered to himself in surprise and then lightened his tone, "Mrs. Abe, why should we save him? Isn’t this a good thing for us? With him gone, nobody will influence us anymore, nor threaten our child, don’t you think?"
Mrs. Abe was rooted to the spot in shock, then broke out in a cold sweat, "It was... you!"
"Exactly, that bastard dared to threaten with my child. He didn’t know whether to live or die! Since he’s so eager to die, I helped him along," Miyashita Naoyuki declared self-righteously.
Mrs. Abe’s expression was a mix of a laugh and a cry as tears kept rolling down her face. She and her husband had both been so wrong, egregiously so, thinking that they had Miyashita Naoyuki in their grasp with a trap they set. They’d never considered that a man like him was never an easy target, resulting in tonight’s debacle.
How could they dare to plot with a tiger for its skin!
Miyashita Naoyuki never solved the problem.
He directly eliminated the person causing the problem.
Then she felt overwhelming fear. If Miyashita Naoyuki knew the child in her belly wasn’t actually his, but the result of her collusion with Abe Ye Cheng to sche against him, what would happen to her?
