"Whenever you ntion the police, I just suddenly rember my father is at the Police Headquarters, and I could tell him about what happened to you. He would definitely want to uphold justice!"
Hattori Aozaki said loudly, his face flushed with excitent.
"Shinichi, Mr. Aozaki’s father is the Police Chief?" Cang Jindie widened her beautiful eyes, then smiled and added, "No wonder Mr. Aozaki is so outstanding."
Aozaki was both proud of his father’s position and embarrassed by the praise from the woman he liked. Scratching his head, he said, "Not really."
"But we shouldn’t bother your uncle," Cang Jindie rembered Nakamura Shinichi’s instructions and knew she couldn’t involve Police Chief Hattori at this stage; he’d see right through their ruse.
Aozaki looked puzzled, "Why?"
To him, if Yellow Hair had broken the law and his father was a policeman, then the obvious step was to report it and let the law deal with Yellow Hair’s criminal actions.
Cang Jindie bit her red lip, feeling insecure, and said, "I’m afraid... afraid that if your uncle learns I’ve been bullied, he won’t agree to being with you, Mr. Aozaki. After all, you are the son of the Police Chief. How could you marry a woman who is... not pure?"
"No! I don’t care about that!" Aozaki eagerly clasped her hand, wishing he could show her his heart, "You were forced by that bastard. I wish I could take care of you instead."
Cang Jindie felt a slight stir in her heart, but she sighed softly; this guy was really naive.
"But, your uncle will care."
Aozaki found himself at a loss for words.
He was raised in a strict household, and his father was very traditional; he would sympathize with Cang Jindie’s past but never allow her to be with him.
"What should we do then? How can we get the police to catch him if we don’t tell my father? Maybe just report to the police directly?"
Aozaki said after racking his brains.
"No! I won’t go," Cang Jindie shook her head, looking pitifully at him, "Mr. Aozaki, I don’t want everyone to know; I don’t want too many people to know about this."
"Then we won’t go; we won’t report it," Aozaki reassured her quickly, understanding her feelings. Although he didn’t mind what Yellow Hair did to Cang Jindie, he didn’t want others to know either.
Cang Jindie waited for a while before speaking up when Aozaki remained silent, "Actually, there’s another way. Since your father is the Police Chief, his subordinates must give you face. You could just ask them to find a different charge to lock that bastard away for three to five years."
"No! We can’t do that! That’s framing soone!" Aozaki instinctively refused, then added, "If my father finds out I’ve been using his na to command his subordinates, he would never forgive ."
"I’m sorry, Mr. Aozaki, I didn’t an to make things difficult for you." Cang Jindie forced a smile and pulled away from him, "Maybe we shouldn’t see each other anymore."
"No, why, Cang Jindie?" The sudden shift in her deanor confounded Aozaki; anxiously, he said, "I will find a way to help you!"
"It’s not about that." Cang Jindie shook her head sadly, disappointnt in her eyes, "I’ve realized you don’t really love . After all, your father’s instructions and your so-called moral beliefs are more important to you than I am. Hah, it makes sense; we’ve only known each other for a couple of days. Perhaps you only wanted my body after all. I was too foolish, too naive..."
"No! It’s not like that!" Aozaki shook his head frantically, his voice filled with panic, "I will prove it to you, just like you suggested. Cang Jindie, I’m willing to do anything for you!"
"Really?" Cang Jindie’s eyes lit up.
Aozaki nodded earnestly; Yellow Hair was nothing good anyway. Getting in touch with his father’s n to arrest him could be justified as removing a nace to society.
He justified his decision to himself over and over.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Aozaki, I misunderstood you just now. I’ve encountered so many bad people that I thought you were the sa. You’re truly different from them." Cang Jindie hugged him, smiling happily.
Aozaki smiled back, feeling very manly, "Let protect you from now on."
"Okay." Cang Jindie nodded, then stood on tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek, "Mr. Aozaki, you’re so kind."
Aozaki felt like he was floating on air.
"Cang Jindie! I’m going to Police Headquarters now! That bastard won’t stay out a minute longer!"
"Okay, Mr. Aozaki, I’ll wait for you. When you co back from Police Headquarters, I’ll have a surprise for you."
Cang Jindie thought this naive man was quite cute, and using him wasn’t completely unfair. Once things were settled, she’d let him have her.
She’d never been with soone like him before.
Aozaki nodded, turned, and hurried downstairs.
"Wait, I haven’t given you so information about that bastard yet." Cang Jindie stopped him.
Aozaki realized, "Oh, right."
He got the na and address of Yellow Hair from her and then departed.
As she watched him leave, Cang Jindie imdiately took out her mobile phone from her bag and called Nakamura Shinichi.
"Detective Nakamura, it’s done. Aozaki is on his way to Police Headquarters now. The money..."
"Co get the money tonight," Nakamura said.
"Sure!"
She hung up the phone and exhaled a breath of relief.
...
"Mr. Hattori?"
Aozaki had just arrived at the Police Headquarters when he was t by Nakamura Shinichi, who seed to have been waiting for an accidental encounter.
"You are...?" Aozaki looked bewildered.
Nakamura Shinichi approached him with a radiant smile, warmly greeting, "I am a subordinate of Police Chief Hattori, nad Nakamura Shinichi. I’ve seen your family photo in his office. Are you here to see the Police Chief?"
"Not... I..." Aozaki started to deny instinctively but seeing Nakamura Shinichi, who clearly wanted to ingratiate himself, had a thought; why not just talk to him? Sowhat nervous about doing this for the first ti, he said, "Detective Nakamura, I ca to see you."
"To see ?" Nakamura Shinichi was montarily startled, then pointed to a cafe across the street, "This isn’t a place to talk. Mr. Hattori, shall we sit and chat inside?"
"Sure!" Aozaki bowed politely.
Nakamura Shinichi led him into the café, chose a quiet spot, ordered two cups of coffee and so pastries, and then said, "Mr. Hattori, do you need help with sothing? Just tell ."
"It is... there is one thing, but could you please not tell my father?" Aozaki said, his voice trembling.
Nakamura Shinichi couldn’t help but chuckle at the innocence instilled in the son by Police Chief Hattori. Of course, one had to let the boss know after doing such a favor; otherwise, what was the point?
"Of course, there’s no problem, Mr. Hattori. Please go ahead."
Hattori Aoshika took a deep breath, clenched his fist, and said, "I need you to take care of soone for , his na is... living at... Just find any reason to arrest him, and if you can keep him locked up for three to five years, that would be best."
After saying this, his clothes were already soaked with sweat, he had never thought he could do such a thing.
"This... Mr. Hattori, you are asking to fra and entrap soone," Nakamura Shinichi said with a troubled look on his face.
Hattori Aoshika’s voice was harsh, "He’s not a good person to begin with, arresting him is like doing a public service. Detective Nakamura, you’ll help , right?"
"Mr. Hattori, even if your father is the head of the First Investigative Division at the Police Headquarters, doing such a thing is risky. Are you sure?" Nakamura Shinichi asked.
Hattori Aoshika felt a flash of fear, but then he thought of Cang Jindie’s eyes and his resolve strengthened once again, "Please help !"
Nakamura Shinichi slid a hand into his pocket and surreptitiously turned off the recording pen, "Alright, wait for news."
"Thank you, Detective Nakamura!" Hattori Aoshika breathed a sigh of relief, stood up, and bowed deeply, then, feeling sowhat ashad to face the other man, he turned and ran away.
Nakamura Shinichi smiled, "Tsk, naive."
Before long, he arrived at Aoyama Xiu Xin’s office.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Co in."
"Superintendent." Nakamura Shinichi pushed the door open and entered.
"What’s the matter?" Aoyama Xiu Xin asked.
"Please listen to this." Nakamura Shinichi said with a slight smile and took out the recording pen before pressing the play button.
After listening, Aoyama Xiu Xin’s face broke into a satisfied grin, "Shinichi, well done. Now, that old fogey Hattori will surely have to resign on his own."
"Should I contact the press now?" Nakamura Shinichi put away the recording pen and tentatively asked.
"No." Aoyama Xiu Xin shook his head, leaned back in his chair, "Blowing this up is a bad idea right now; the police force already has enough scandals. I’ll take this recording and have a talk with him. Given his character, he’ll compromise to save face and resign on his own."
And recordings like these are annoying. Used once is fine, but they should not be spread around for everyone to know.
Otherwise, who would trust talking to him in the future?
Recording, secret filming - they are double-edged swords, usable against others, but officials should avoid using them on each other.
"Ha! Superintendent, you’re wise indeed; it was simple-minded of ," Nakamura Shinichi patted on so flattery.
"Give the recording pen," Aoyama Xiu Xin said.
Nakamura Shinichi imdiately presented it with both hands.
Aoyama Xiu Xin took the recording pen and headed straight for Police Chief Hattori’s office, barging in without knocking.
"Idiot, insolence! Do you have any respect for your superior, Aoyama Xiu Xin? Get out and knock before entering!" Police Chief Hattori roared in anger.
Aoyama Xiu Xin smiled, calmly shut the door, sat down opposite him, and cockily crossed his legs, "You won’t be my superior for much longer."
"Wait until your appointnt cos from above before you talk," Police Chief Hattori sneered coldly.
Aoyama Xiu Xin laughed, shook the recording pen, "I’ve got sothing interesting to play for you, Police Chief."
As the voice fell, he pressed the play button.
Police Chief Hattori imdiately recognized one of the voices as his son’s, and sure enough, the subsequent conversation soon made it clear, his face growing darker as he listened.
"To think a Police Chief’s son would dare to instruct national law enforcent to falsely accuse and entrap innocent people. If I were to hand this over to the press, it would undoubtedly cause a huge uproar."
After the recording finished, Aoyama Xiu Xin said with a smirk.
"Slam!" Police Chief Hattori stood up, slamming the desk, glaring at Aoyama Xiu Xin, "Utterly despicable!"
He knew his son, knew he must have been ensnared by Aoyama Xiu Xin; otherwise, he wouldn’t do such a thing, nor would he have the guts to.
"Swear all you want, go ahead. But once the recording goes to the dia, it will be you and your son who look petty and shaless in the public eye, my dear Police Chief."
Aoyama Xiu Xin remained dignified, unruffled.
Police Chief Hattori’s eyes bloodshot, he gripped the edge of the desk and stared down Aoyama Xiu Xin, panting heavily.
He truly wanted to just pull out a gun and shoot this bastard.
Unfortunately, those who sit in offices usually don’t carry a gun unless they ask for one.
Aoyama Xiu Xin faced him calmly, confident, "You only have one choice: resign for health reasons, to keep your reputation intact and make a dignified exit."
"Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to proceed reluctantly. Please think of your own reputation and the police force’s, and don’t make do sothing I’d rather not."
With that, he stood up and bowed deeply.
"Idiot!"
Police Chief Hattori scread hysterically, grabbing a folder from his desk and throwing it at Aoyama Xiu Xin.
Aoyama Xiu Xin kept bowing, unmoving.
"You scoundrel! Vile wretch!"
Police Chief Hattori trembled with rage, shouting as he overturned everything on the desk.
Then, he gradually cald down.
He slumped back in his chair, eyes shut in despair, "Get out, bastard. You win."
"Take care of your health, Police Chief." Aoyama Xiu Xin bowed again, then turned and strode confidently away.
Head held high, chest out—full of spirited pride.
It was a shaless era.
Fortunately, he was a shaless man.
