Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too Chapter 86: You Don’t Even Want Grandma Anymore?
Vera Yves sat up.
"Alright, I need to ask Vera, is the person in the photo really her?"
"Why even ask? My daughter has already divorced that Valentine guy, what’s wrong with hugging soone? So Winston can fool around during the marriage but my daughter can’t get a hug after the divorce?"
Vera’s mind finally cleared up a bit. She reached for her phone and saw several missed calls, from Linda Young, Miles Monroe, and Zoe Monroe.
Vera called Linda Young back.
"Last night you and Miles were photographed, didn’t you say it was impossible? How did you two end up hugging?"
"We... just hugged for a mont," Vera rubbed her temples, "I can guarantee you that when he hugged , there were definitely no romantic feelings involved."
"Are you him? How are you so sure?" Linda Young spoke earnestly, "You’re twenty-seven now, not sixteen or seventeen, does Miles still treat you like a child?"
Vera was montarily speechless; perhaps others wouldn’t, but Miles really would.
Linda Young continued, "The photo only shows your face, clearly the whistleblower is wary of the Monroe Family, but people familiar with you should be able to recognize him."
After hanging up, Vera dialed Miles Monroe.
The Monroe family study.
"Why did you return to the country?" Mason Monroe looked solemnly at his son in front of him.
Miles Monroe remained expressionless, as his relationship with his father had always been strained due to his departure abroad over the years.
"Haven’t you and Mom always hoped I’d co back?"
"If you cared about us, you wouldn’t have left in the first place!"
Miles was silent for a mont, "I never planned to stay abroad forever; returning was inevitable, and Grandpa’s illness was just an opportunity."
"Your grandpa had a serious illness, and we’re unsure how long he’ll last. If you’re truly filial, you should follow his wishes, go on blind dates, and marry a granddaughter-in-law quickly."
"There are heaps of things upon returning; I have no energy to start a new relationship."
"Yet you have the energy to hug the Yves girl."
Miles calmly explained, "The report took things out of context; I’ve always treated Vera like a sister."
"So you’re not back because of Vera, but for that other woman?"
Miles’ voice turned cooler, "No."
"Since it’s not, then go on blind dates! Are you going to remain unmarried because of a woman?"
The atmosphere quickly dropped below freezing point.
Miles rubbed his temple wearily, "If going on a blind date makes you believe, then let it be as you arrange."
The phone rang, and Miles saw it was Vera’s call, so he stepped out of the study to answer.
"Miles, I’m sorry for causing you trouble."
"Vera, don’t say that; I’m the one who caused you trouble."
"Divorcing him was never going to be peaceful."
Vera had been ntally prepared for it; everyone in The Valentine Family wasn’t easy to deal with, and especially linda Shelby, who looked down on her. The reason why Winston issued such a statent was to prevent the Valentine Family from turning the tables on her too harshly.
"Vera, don’t worry, since I’ve returned, I won’t let anyone bully you again."
Vera went to visit Hillside Villa.
After the surgery, Vera maintained phone communication with Cleo Sutton’s dical team, adjusting the dication plan.
Cleo Sutton looked a lot better; no longer relying on a wheelchair, she could already walk a few steps with assistance.
Rae Rhodes supported Cleo Sutton, smiling happily.
"Aunt Sutton, during New Year, let’s go set off fireworks together, okay?"
Cleo Sutton gazed at her tenderly, "Okay."
Rae Rhodes’ eyes reddened, "Aunt Sutton, may I call you Mom?"
Cleo Sutton was montarily at a loss for words.
"Since I can rember, I’ve been staying at the welfare ho, adopted at seven, but they never loved ," Rae said, tears falling like scattered beads, "No one has ever treated as well as you have."
Cleo Sutton also got teary-eyed, wiping Rae’s tears from her cheeks.
"Can you be my mom, please?"
"Child, actually... I am your mom."
Rae Rhodes was just montarily shocked, then threw herself into Cleo Sutton’s arms, crying inconsolably.
Vera hadn’t expected to witness such a mother-daughter reunion.
Tristan Valentine went upstairs and saw the two embracing. His emotions didn’t fluctuate much.
Rae Rhodes let go of Cleo Sutton, her eyes hinting at expectation, as she patiently called Mr. Valentine.
Tristan Valentine nodded and walked to Cleo Sutton’s side, "Why are your eyes so red from crying?"
Cleo Sutton laughed, "I’m just too happy. I never thought..."
"Tired? Get so rest." Tristan Valentine gently adjusted her clothes, "I’ll take you out for a spin in the afternoon."
Cleo Sutton nodded.
Tristan Valentine and Vera went downstairs together, leaving Rae Rhodes perplexed, since she’d found Cleo Sutton, why wouldn’t Cleo let her connect with Tristan?
At the bottom of the stairs.
Tristan Valentine said in a deep voice, "The divorce issue is our Valentine’s Family’s fault towards you."
Vera found it amusing; Tristan Valentine had his own woman outside, yet he apologized on behalf of Winston?
"Mr. Valentine truly feels he’s at fault? Or does he just think it tarnished the Valentine’s reputation?"
Tristan Valentine gave Vera a surprised look, "Even though linda treated you like that, you’re still defending her?"
"I’m rely curious about where the moral baseline of adulterers lies."
A sentence, with no room for sentint.
Tristan Valentine t Vera’s candid gaze, his heart slightly touched.
He didn’t know his forr daughter-in-law well; whichever occasion they t, she always called him ’Dad’ with a smile, considerate and poised.
Turns out she had such a sharp tongue as well, quite reminiscent of Cleo from mory, no wonder Cleo found kinship with her.
"I really have no moral baseline," Tristan Valentine chuckled, "You should know, in this circle, it’s not morals but rules that matter. What you think of doesn’t matter, but don’t see Cleo as so sordid; I forced her."
Vera said nothing more and turned to leave the villa.
Yet her heart was choked with frustration.
Are all n like this, bestowing all their favoritism and affection on their beloved muse, while deluding themselves with supposedly profound sentint?
If they really loved so deeply, why involve soone unrelated as a witness?
Halfway, Vera received a call from Old Mrs. Valentine.
Vera hesitated for a mont, then pulled over to answer.
"Vera, this matter is Winston’s fault towards you. I don’t have much to offer, but the shop I promised to give you will be transferred to your na,"
Vera clenched her phone, "Grand... Old Mrs. Valentine, I’ve parted ways with him, I can’t take anything from you anymore."
"He is him, I am !" Old Mrs. Valentine said with vigor, "In the future, I won’t have that scoundrel grandson. If you don’t mind, still call Grandma, co see whenever you can."
"I really don’t want the stuff," Vera’s attitude was resolute, "Since the divorce, I wish for no more entanglents with the past."
Old Mrs. Valentine’s voice fell into desolation, "Vera, you don’t even want Grandma?"
Vera steeled herself and hung up the call.
Old Mrs. Valentine listened to the busy signal, just as Winston Valentine ca downstairs.
"Where are you headed?"
"Hospital."
Old Mrs. Valentine spoke coldly, "Is the child really yours?"
