Vera Yves was feeling unbearably hot, and she nodded.

Winston Valentine directly picked her up horizontally, continuing his temptation, "Let help you, hmm?"

Vera leaned against his chest, responding vaguely, with only one thought in her mind: the Winston Valentine in her dream was incredibly gentle.

When Vera woke up, it was already the next morning.

The hangover gave her a headache, and she glanced at the camisole nightdress on her body, with images of bathing with Winston Valentine flashing through her mind. Her cheeks uncontrollably flushed; how could she have such a dream?

Vera changed her clothes and went downstairs.

The servant brought breakfast to the dining room.

Vera asked calmly, "How did I get back last night?"

"Mr. Valentine carried you back."

So last night wasn’t a dream?

Vera wasn’t sure of anything, let alone daring to seek confirmation from Winston Valentine.

As she ate breakfast, those dreamy images kept invading her mind. Although the two were already very close, such a straightforward encounter was a first!

Winston Valentine was definitely intentional!

How could he be so shalessly calm?

After finishing the al, Vera’s face was flushed, and the servant considerately asked if she wanted the window opened.

Vera shook her head awkwardly.

There was no imdiate need to treat Cleo Sutton, so Vera went to the clinic, planning to transcribe everything left by her grandfather and make an electronic version.

Looking up at the painting, Vera suddenly thought, this painting isn’t for sale; how did Walter Lowell manage to buy it?

The ringing of her phone interrupted her thoughts, and Vera answered. Old Mrs. Valentine’s cheerful voice ca through, "Vera, co ho for dinner with Winston tonight, Grandma has an important announcent."

In the evening, Winston Valentine ca to pick her up.

Seeing him, Vera couldn’t help but recall last night’s images. She turned her head away, refusing to engage with him.

Winston Valentine, lost in thought, seed uninterested in dealing with her.

Upon arrival at the old residence, Vera realized it was bustling. Winston Valentine’s uncles, and cousins Tristan Valentine and linda Shelby were all present, alongside many others of the younger generation.

The last ti the Valentine Family was this gathered was during the Spring Festival.

Cecilia Vaughn greeted the elders with a gentle and obedient deanor.

However, next to her, Samantha Warren’s face showed little cheer.

Old Mrs. Valentine chatted about family matters with her daughters-in-law, while the n discussed business affairs.

The younger ones sat together, discussing the latest bags and shoes from various brands, and who was going to watch fashion shows, eventually shifting the topic to whose family had welcod a new child.

"Vera, you and Winston have been married for over three years, haven’t you? Still not planning for kids?" The speaker was Chelsea Valentine, the eldest daughter of Winston’s uncle Trevor Valentine.

Vera smiled gently, "We’re not in a rush."

Chelsea Valentine had married years before Vera joined the Valentine Family, they weren’t particularly close.

However, her natural dislike for Samantha Warren and her daughter made the enemy’s enemy a friend, now as she looked at Vera, her fondness grew.

Chelsea Valentine held Vera’s hand, "Winston is already thirty, how can you not be in a rush? A child will strengthen the marriage."

Cecilia Vaughn watched their hands clasp together, letting out a cold laugh.

Vera’s eyes dimd; she no longer hoped for a child with him.

The crowd laughed and chatted, while Vera got up to go to the restroom.

Cecilia Vaughn specifically sought her out, "Can you guess the Valentine’s big announcent for tonight?"

Through the mirror, Vera gave her a glance.

Cecilia Vaughn chuckled, "Luke Shaw and I are getting engaged, Grandma will announce our wedding news tonight."

Vera turned to face her calmly, "Then I congratulate you in advance for your engagent."

Cecilia Vaughn moved closer, whispering, "How about making a bet on whether or not Winston will agree?"

Vera walked outward, Cecilia Vaughn continued, "I bet he won’t!"

Vera walked out composedly, slowing her pace as she rounded the corner, no wonder Old Mrs. Valentine had summoned back so many elders.

As long as none of them objected, what grounds did Winston Valentine have to oppose it?

At the dining table, Old Mrs. Valentine sat at the main seat, smiling amiably, "Before we eat, I want to announce a joyous event, Cecilia and Luke Shaw will be engaged next month, in a few days, the families will dine together to select a good day."

The people at the table exchanged glances, no one seed to find anything wrong with it.

Though the Shaw Family wasn’t prestigious, their accomplishnts in the pharmaceutical industry were notable, and they’ve been rising in recent years.

Such family background paired with Cecilia Vaughn, an orphan of the Vaughn Family, could be seen as Cecilia reaching high.

The crowd quickly congratulated Cecilia Vaughn.

Cecilia Vaughn responded with a smile.

Samantha Warren’s face bore no trace of a smile anymore.

Winston Valentine looked at Old Mrs. Valentine, his gaze deepening.

Next to Winston, Vera could distinctly sense the coldness emanating from him.

"Grandma." Winston Valentine suddenly spoke, freezing the lively dining room where no one uttered another word.

Old Mrs. Valentine’s amusent faded a few degrees, "Winston, anything to say can wait until after the al."

Winston’s gaze fell on Cecilia Vaughn, "I disagree with this marriage."

Vera’s tightly held palms eased, not even she understood what she was hoping for, how could he possibly watch the woman he loved marry soone like Luke Shaw?

Old Mrs. Valentine’s face turned entirely stern, "You disagree? What right do you have to disagree? Winston Valentine, don’t forget your position!"

Winston Valentine appeared calm, "Such matters require careful consideration."

Silence reigned in the dining room, Old Mrs. Valentine beca livid with Winston Valentine.

Trevor Valentine slamd the table in anger, "Winston Valentine, what do you an? Since when do you decide about Cecilia’s wedding? I’m not dead yet!"

Taking charge in the company wasn’t enough, now even at ho?

Samantha Warren hurriedly soothed him, "Trevor, Winston only wants what’s best for Cecilia..."

"What, you’re suggesting I haven’t treated your daughter well?" Trevor Valentine glanced at her unsatisfied, Samantha Warren imdiately teared up, "That’s not what I ant."

Cecilia Vaughn quickly said, "Uncle Valentine, my mom surely didn’t an that, third brother has misunderstandings about Luke Shaw, he’s concerned for , fearing marrying him will make unhappy."

"Concern for you?" Trevor Valentine cast a dissatisfied look towards Winston Valentine, "Among all the elders here, it’s hardly his place to care!"

Tristan Valentine apologized, "Brother, it’s my failure in guiding my son, don’t be mad, Cecilia’s marriage is naturally for you and your wife to decide, Winston’s opinion doesn’t count."

Cecilia Vaughn tearfully chased rainbows, "Third brother, I returned this ti to get married, I know you have misunderstandings about Luke Shaw, but I truly want to marry him, I beg you, let ."

As Cecilia Vaughn finished her plea, silence enveloped the dining room again, her words suggested that she wished to marry, but Winston wouldn’t allow it.

Sympathetic or disdainful gazes fell upon Vera.

Vera appeared calm, yet her heart felt heavy.

Old Mrs. Valentine beca enraged, "Since both your uncle and aunt have no objections, and Cecilia herself is willing, this marriage is settled!"

Winston Valentine remained calm, "Luke Shaw lacks in character; Cecilia can’t marry him."

"You... You’re set on making furious!" Old Mrs. Valentine abruptly clutched her chest, her complexion pained.
