Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too Chapter 29: You Dare Flirt with My Woman?
Winston Valentine’s hand stopped moving, and the smile in his eyes disappeared.
"Angry?" linda Shelby smiled at him, "Mother just thinks that since Vera Yves can’t have children, let the woman you love give you one, anyway, Vera agreed, didn’t she?"
She agreed? Winston knew well his mother’s way of doing things, and Vera at most was just an accomplice.
"We just don’t plan to have children for now."
"Can a woman who deceived you in marriage be fit to bear your children?" linda’s expression darkened.
Winston hadn’t expected linda to know about Vera’s false pregnancy, and was silent for a mont, "Just a trophy wife, anyone would be the sa."
linda glimpsed the mark on his neck, a fierce glint flashed in her watery eyes, "You’re my son, linda Shelby’s son; falling for such a woman would be utter foolishness."
Winston laughed indifferently, "Mom, you’re overthinking it."
"Since you still can’t let go of Cecilia Vaughn, keep her outside. Even if your grandmother has opinions, once the child is born, there’s nothing she can do."
Winston’s dark eyes deepened, "Cecilia is the sixth lady of The Valentine Family, she should naturally marry soone of equal status."
linda elegantly wiped the corners of her mouth, "What, being your lover is a grievance for her?"
"What needed to be let go, I let go before my marriage." Winston leaned back on the chair, "No need for you to worry."
"Annoyed by your mother’s ddling?" linda slowly said, "That woman doesn’t have much longer to live, Tristan Valentine will surely find a way to bring her in, if you don’t hurry up to have a great-grandson to please the old lady, how can you expect her to willingly give you her shares?"
Winston rubbed his temples; he had no intention of having kids, no matter which woman it was with.
After parting with linda, Winston didn’t want to return to the villa; instead, he called a few friends to The Gilded Age for drinks.
Theodore Xavier saw him unknowingly finish a bottle of wine, put a brotherly arm over his shoulders, "Calling us out and drinking quietly all by yourself?"
Winston pushed his arm away, drank another glass, wearing a black shirt with an open collar, revealing so crisscross marks inside.
"Is it marital disharmony?" Theodore rubbed his chin, "How about I call a few beauties for you..."
"Get lost!"
"Then it’s emotional turbulence," Theodore clicked his tongue, "I’m telling you, if you care about soone, you should tell them. Drinking yourself to death here, no one would know!"
"Who says I like her?"
Theodore smiled, "I didn’t say who you like either."
"Boring!"
Winston drank another glass and got up to get so air outside, thoughts filled with the image of Vera wiping her tears, why was she crying? Did she regret pushing him away for soone else?
A few drunkards were smoking in the corner.
"Leo, tell , how’s Cecilia Vaughn’s figure?"
"Her figure is just so-so, but Winston Valentine’s wife, that figure, that face, truly a worldly goddess, not comparable to the ordinary won here," a man said drunkenly. "Last ti dining with her, I almost got my hands on her..."
A few people laughed lewdly.
"Still pretending to be pure with , everyone knows Winston Valentine doesn’t really care about her, at most she’s just a bed partner. Said a few teasing words and she turned against ! When Winston Valentine finally kicks her out, I’ll..."
Sensing soone standing before him, Luke Shaw squinted and looked up, seeing Winston Valentine’s gloomy face, he sobered up considerably, his legs trembling, "Pre... President Valentine..."
"Bang!" A punch landed on his face, Luke Shaw instantly fell to the ground.
Winston bent over, grabbed his collar, "You dare tease my woman, tired of living?"
...
Vera Yves felt very uncomfortable; until the next morning, her body still ached. Since Winston Valentine left, he hadn’t returned to the villa.
She thought, at least linda Shelby achieved half her goal; Winston must utterly detest her by now.
After getting out of bed, Vera initially planned to go to the Hillside Villa, but on the way she received a call from Mark Yves, "Sis, soone ca to pick the lock."
Vera imdiately changed direction to the clinic.
The lock Vera had left had been cut; Mark Yves, leaning on a crutch, helplessly told her, "They have the property deed, even if they want to pick the lock, there’s nothing we can do."
Especially since he couldn’t fight anyone right now.
Vera called linda Shelby; it rang several tis before being connected.
"At least let take those dical books away, can I?"
linda chuckled, "Take away those dical books? To find a way to save that bitch Cleo Sutton?"
Vera gripped the phone tightly, "The treatnt plan for Cleo Sutton is already decided, these are my grandfather’s life’s work, unrelated to saving Cleo Sutton! I can pay more money to buy them back!"
"Do you think I’m short on money?"
Vera’s face turned pale, "I’m begging you..."
"Who told you to be so disobedient, not willing to cooperate with ." linda said leisurely, "If I can’t have a grandchild, you won’t have it good either!"
linda rcilessly hung up the phone.
Vera hurriedly dialed back, but couldn’t get through again.
Watching those people pack her grandfather’s dical books into boxes, then load box after box onto a truck, Vera anxiously ran over, "Where are you taking these things?"
The staff looked at her helplessly, "The higher-ups said these dical books are worthless and told us to take them to a suburban paper wasteyard to burn."
"I can buy them back."
The staff urgently said, "The leadership specifically instructed that all these things must be burned, no one can privately handle them."
Mark Yves said on the side, "Forget it, after all, Grandpa is no longer here, if the stuff needs to be burned, let it burn."
"What do you know?" Vera gave him a discontented look.
Mark retorted impatiently, "Vera, what’s with your attitude? I just got out of the hospital with a crippled leg, standing watch at the door for you every day, is it easy for ?"
Vera was too overwheld to argue with him, so she had no choice but to call Old Mrs. Valentine, only for the call to go unanswered. She called the old mansion instead and was inford that linda Shelby was out shopping with Old Mrs. Valentine.
Vera’s last hope in her heart vanished, linda Shelby was determined to teach her a lesson.
Watching those people throw her grandfather’s dical materials into the truck like garbage, Vera’s heart ached as if cut by a knife. Seeing that they were about to close the truck door, she frantically rushed over.
"You can’t take these things away!" Vera clung to the truck door, "Just give half a day! Just half a day!"
The leading man signaled to his subordinates with his eyes.
Before Vera could react, she was pulled away and pushed harshly.
"Thud!"
Her knee hit the ground, her palms burning painfully.
The truck started slowly.
A kind smile of her grandfather flashed through Vera’s mind; these were her grandfather’s life’s work, she absolutely couldn’t let them take these things away!
Resolute, Vera disregarded the pain, and stood blocking the truck’s path.
The driver was accelerating, unprepared for her dash, he stomped on the brake in fright.
Vera closed her eyes, but the anticipated pain didn’t co. Instead, a force pulled her away from the truck’s path, and she fell into a warm embrace.
