Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too Chapter 198: I’m Not Afraid of Her
"How many tis have you had an abortion?"
Stella Valentine looked composed, "Once."
Vera Yves’ face darkened, "If you don’t tell the truth, I can’t help treat your illness."
"Alright, twice."
Vera released her hand, "Get out of the car."
"Just three tis!" Stella gritted her teeth and said, "Really, just three tis!"
Vera switched to her other hand, "Where do you feel uncomfortable now?"
Stella asked suspiciously, "I’ve already told you, why are you still diagnosing?"
"Are you here for treatnt or to cause trouble?"
Stella lowered her patience, "I just feel discomfort down there, but I’ve been to several hospitals for check-ups, and the results all showed nothing wrong. However, whenever a man touches , I beco completely stiff."
"After your last abortion, the procedure wasn’t cleaned thoroughly." Vera withdrew her hand, "And with your health condition, it will be difficult to have a baby in the future."
"I want you to help solve the problem of becoming stiff whenever a man touches ."
"You do need to purify your mind and have fewer desires right now," Vera diverted her gaze, "First solve the problem I ntioned, then we can talk about the rest later."
"Vera, are you ssing with ?"
"If you can’t even follow doctor’s orders, there’s no need to co to in the future." Vera glanced at her, "Get out of the car."
Stella angrily glanced at her, opened the car door, and got out.
Not long after Vera left the Valentine Family’s old house, she received a call from Hannah Hayes, "Vera, Mia attempted suicide!"
Parking the car by the roadside, Vera gripped her phone, "Was she saved?"
"I just got the news too! Your dad and I are heading to the hospital, Mark is still unreachable!"
Vera hurriedly arrived at the hospital. Mia was still in the sa ward, her wrist wrapped in thick bandages. Her face was pale, and she was still unconscious.
"She sohow heard about you giving money, and she couldn’t reach Mark, so she..." Mia’s mother wiped tears from the corners of her eyes, "She’s our only daughter, what use is money if she’s gone?"
Mr. Tate had a grave expression, "We don’t want your money, we just want you to find Mark and have him stay with Mia, even if it’s just for a chat."
"Rest assured, this is our fault," Harry Yves said apologetically, "As soon as Mia is discharged, we’ll have them get married imdiately."
Hannah Hayes glared and tugged at him.
The Tate couple exchanged glances, "We should wait for Mia to wake up and hear her opinion."
After leaving the ward, Hannah Hayes couldn’t hold back her anger any longer, "Harry Yves, what do you an by this? Do you not know why Mark left ho?"
"Mia’s lower body is paralyzed because of him, and now she’s attempted suicide. He must take the responsibility he should bear!"
"Take responsibility? Does getting married equate to taking responsibility?" Hannah Hayes’ face turned stern, "A million! They’ll never see that much money in their lifeti! Isn’t that responsible enough?"
"Money, money, money, let ask you, if when Vera was pregnant back then, the Valentine Family had given us so money to have her get an abortion, how would you feel?"
"How is that the sa?"
"How is it different?"
"My daughter is beautiful and outstanding, marrying Winston Valentine is a bargain for him!"
"Isn’t every daughter the apple of their parent’s eye?"
"Is your son a weed? Doesn’t his happiness matter?"
"Why didn’t he think about his happiness when he was racing cars?"
Back at the Yves Family, Hannah Hayes was still fuming. Vera clung to her arm, acting cute, "Mom, wasn’t it to climb up to the Valentine Family that you wanted to marry Winston?"
"I don’t care if he’s Winston Valentine or Winston Warren, he slept with my daughter and got her pregnant, he must take responsibility!"
Vera’s eyes were slightly red.
"It’s only right for Winston Valentine to be filial to as my son-in-law," Hannah Hayes looked at Vera, stroking her cheek, "I gave him my precious daughter of over twenty years; he should be grateful."
"Then why do you still want to endure?"
In fact, throughout those years of marriage, she always felt like a pawn of the Yves Family trying to attach to the Valentine Family, and had even resented Hannah Hayes for placing her in a world she didn’t belong, making her suffer from disdain.
"A husband and wife are supposed to tolerate and give in to each other, right? Look at your dad, he wants to decide everything for Mark alone. If I didn’t endure, I would’ve argued with him at the hospital."
"Mom, thank you for being my mother."
Hannah Hayes pushed her away, unable to take it, "That’s so cheesy; I’m your mom naturally, what thanks do you owe ? As long as you stop giving a headache, I’d thank the heavens and earth."
That night, Winston Valentine video-called Vera. Seeing her in a good mood, his exhausted body seed to regain energy instantly.
"Why are you so happy?"
"I just suddenly figured so things out."
"What things?"
She didn’t have to think about things that never concerned her anyway; she’d been Vera Yves for twenty-eight years, with a loving family, supportive friends, and... a less-than-perfect lover.
Her gaze drifted over to the man in the video, his profile perfectly chiseled, his deep eyes full of affection as he looked at her.
Seeing Vera didn’t answer, Winston said unhurriedly, "Could it be that you’ve figured out that you’re going to remarry ?"
The smile faded from Vera’s face, "That’s not a funny joke."
"Do you know, this afternoon, I got called to the old house by grandma and got scolded for two hours," Winston looked forlorn, "which is why I’m still working overti at the company."
Vera chuckled, "Scolding you for two hours ans grandma’s health must be recovering well."
Winston smiled wryly, "Can’t you care for my fragile young heart?"
Vera looked at him disdainfully, "Stop playing the pitiful card. You keep working overti; I’m going for a shower."
"Just in ti, I need to relax a bit. I don’t mind video-chatting while you shower."
Seeing the man in the video straighten himself, leaning against the sofa, his eyes eagerly locked on the cara, Vera blushed and cursed "pervert" before ending the call.
The next morning, Vera went to Hillside Villa and successfully brought Cleo Sutton out of the villa.
However, Tristan Valentine had arranged a special car to transport the two and assigned seven to eight bodyguards.
Vera first took Cleo to et Rae Rhodes. Cleo went in for a private conversation with Rae, and whatever they talked about, Vera didn’t know, but Cleo ca out looking noticeably more pale.
"If you don’t want to see linda Shelby, we can head straight back to the villa."
Cleo smiled, "Dr. Yves, don’t worry. She can’t hurt , and I’m not afraid of her."
The two got into the car, and Cleo watched the scenery outside the window with amazent, "It’s been a long ti since I’ve seen such lively scenes."
"If you want, you can co out for a spin often in the future."
"Actually, Tristan didn’t restrict my freedom," Cleo smiled at her, "It’s just that with the prolonged treatnts, I was resistant to stepping out, always feeling out of place in this world."
Vera held her hand, "I understand you; many people with illnesses feel so level of inferiority."
The car stopped outside a café, and Vera wheeled Cleo inside. linda Shelby was already waiting there, and Vera found a spot by the window to wait.
linda looked at the frail and withered woman in front of her, elegantly sipping her coffee, "Doesn’t touching you make Tristan Valentine sick?"
Cleo didn’t answer her question; she just looked at her calmly, "Why did you want to see ?"
linda pushed a photo in front of her, "I found your precious daughter for you."
