Hannah Hayes looked at Harry Yves with words on the tip of her tongue.

Harry Yves had a stern face, "I can tell, Mia Tate genuinely likes you. Do as I said with this matter, otherwise, how am I going to explain to the shareholders of the company? Who will trust you in the future?"

Harry Yves’s phone rang, and he went upstairs to the study.

Mark Yves collapsed on the sofa, looking utterly defeated.

Hannah Hayes patted his shoulder, "Alright, your dad is just in a fit of anger, I’ll go talk to him again."

Hannah Hayes brewed so tea and went upstairs.

Vera Yves sat down next to Mark Yves, "What are you thinking?"

Mark Yves sneered, "Genuinely likes ? I think she genuinely likes my status as a Yves family young master! Otherwise, why would those reporters go to interview them out of the blue? They must have nothing better to do!"

"Maybe it’s because of my issues that those reporters went to interview them."

"Co on, there are plenty of people in this circle who are more scandalous than , why don’t those dia report on them? She must have arranged for it!"

Mark Yves hadn’t expected that his usually obedient and gentle girlfriend was actually a scheming girl, and any guilt he felt towards her vanished completely.

"Mia Tate shouldn’t be that kind of girl." Vera Yves tried to persuade him, "She’s only in her early twenties, she’s like this because of you, you have a responsibility towards her!"

"I’ll take responsibility as I should, but that doesn’t an I have to marry her, the key is I don’t like her."

"If you don’t like her, why did you date her?"

"Can’t I be lonely and bored?" Mark Yves said helplessly, "It’s just dating, it’s not like we have to be madly in love, right?"

Vera Yves knew she couldn’t reason with him and worried that Hannah Hayes and Harry Yves might start fighting again, so she headed upstairs as well.

In the study.

Hannah Hayes waited for Harry Yves to finish his call before pushing a teacup towards him, "Have so water to soothe your throat."

Harry Yves took a sip of tea, his expression softening considerably.

Hannah Hayes cautiously began, "Why not go talk to them again, offer them more money, 5 million should suffice."

Harry Yves looked at her with dissatisfaction, "Money, money, money, all you know is to use money to solve problems! If you hadn’t been indulging him all along, would he have turned out like this?"

"I’m indulging him? Is the child only mine?" Hannah Hayes got angry, "When sothing goes wrong, you bla for not educating him properly! How involved have you been in raising him all these years?"

"You’re shirking responsibility!"

"How am I shirking responsibility? I raised him, didn’t I? How co Vera didn’t need my teaching? Why don’t you say it’s your Yves family genes that are bad?"

Harry Yves’s expression changed instantly, lowering his voice, "What nonsense are you spouting again!"

Hannah Hayes realized her slip, "It’s all your fault! When sothing’s wrong with the child, of course I’m anxious! I just know, with your business getting bigger, you’ve long despised , isn’t that right?"

Harry Yves looked exasperated, "Where is this even coming from?"

Vera Yves stood outside the study, slowly lowering her hand that was about to knock on the door. What did mom an by that? What did she an by saying the Yves family’s genes aren’t good?

AB blood types cannot have O type blood children.

But Mark Yves looked so much like dad, they didn’t even need a paternity test.

An absurd thought suddenly popped into her head, could it be that she’s the one who’s not the Yves family’s child?

Feeling a bit flustered, Vera Yves returned to her room. She took out a photo fra from her room, showing a picture of her with Hannah Hayes, Harry Yves, and Mark Yves from her university graduation year.

Mark Yves’s mouth looked a lot like mom’s, and his brows and eyes looked like dad’s, the ears were identical to dad’s.

Vera Yves carefully tried to find similar features between herself and Hannah Hayes, Harry Yves’s faces. Maybe the nose looked a bit similar, but upon closer inspection, it didn’t.

Can’t see it, why can’t I see anything?

If she’s not the child of her parents, then who is she?

The ringing of her phone interrupted her thoughts.

Vera Yves answered the call, hearing Winston Valentine’s magnetic voice on the other end, "Did you miss ?"

Vera Yves placed the photo fra back on the desk, calming herself down, "Didn’t we just part this morning?"

"Are your legs still sore?"

Vera Yves’s cheeks flushed, refusing to answer his indecent question.

Winston Valentine lowered his voice, "If your legs aren’t sore, walk down by yourself. If they are, I’ll co in and carry you out."

"I don’t want to go out."

"Then I’ll co in and keep you company."

Feeling a bit overwheld, Vera Yves said, "Wait."

She put on a coat, walked outside the villa, only to find no sign of Winston Valentine. She turned to head back and bumped into the man’s arms.

"You did miss , you even threw yourself into my arms."

Vera Yves’s nose stung a bit, "Aren’t you bored?"

Winston Valentine kissed her hair, held her hand, "Co with to a place tonight."

"I haven’t even changed my clothes."

"You look great just like this."

The driver had already pulled up the car in front of them, so Vera Yves had no choice but to get in with him, sending Hannah Hayes a ssage on the way.

Noticing she seed distracted, Winston Valentine squeezed her hand, "Sothing on your mind?"

Vera Yves ca back to her senses and suddenly asked him, "Winston, if one day you suddenly found out that you might not be you, what would you do?"

Winston Valentine’s eyes darkened, "Why ask such a question?"

Vera Yves hesitated, "Just suddenly curious."

"What do you an, I might not be ?"

"For example, if your parents aren’t actually your parents, if your last na isn’t Valentine at all."

Winston Valentine stopped breathing for a mont, tightening his grip on her hand, "What about you? What would you do?"

Vera Yves felt a bit lost, "I don’t know..."

"If it were , I wouldn’t do anything." Winston Valentine looked into her eyes, seriously saying, "Sotis certain truths are of no consequence."

Does she not need to do anything?

If she’s not the Yves family’s child, then who is she? Why is she at the Yves family?

Winston Valentine wrapped his arms around her, "Are you coming back to the villa with tonight?"

Vera Yves snapped back to reality, trying hard to push him away, "Don’t even think about it!"

Winston Valentine whispered in her ear, "I promise not to touch you."

Vera Yves looked disdainful, "Your promises are worthless."

"How do you know if you don’t try?"

"I’m not going to try."

Winston Valentine held her tighter, his dark eyes deepening. Why did she suddenly ask that? Could she already be questioning her origins?

Where did things go wrong? In any case, she must not have any ties to Cleo Sutton.

The car stopped outside The Gilded Age.

Winston Valentine led her inside, encountering several acquaintances along the way.

Vera Yves glanced down at her attire, thankful she’d gone shopping with Linda Young earlier and changed her clothes, although her casual outfit didn’t quite match the lavish surroundings.

The two took the elevator to the top floor, with Winston Valentine’s arm around Vera Yves’s shoulder, and she leaned gently against him.

Just as they stepped out of the elevator, they encountered a heavily intoxicated man.

"President Valentine, today you have a new taste, bringing a schoolgirl?" The man, drunk, slurred his words a bit.
