"I’m not enjoying this." Vera Yves avoided his gaze, "I want to go ho."

"I’ve been upset today." Winston Valentine said slowly, "If soone faints alone in a villa, no one will know, so please stay with tonight, Dr. Yves."

Just as Vera was about to refuse, she heard him say, "As the culprit, you shouldn’t have the right to refuse, should you?"

Vera thought of Miles’ tears when he kissed her—she did feel conflicted for a mont, and felt more guilt towards Winston Valentine.

The car drove into the villa.

Winston Valentine got out of the car, Vera followed behind him, and they entered the house one after the other.

"I’m hungry, make so noodles." Winston turned to look at her, "Dr. Yves is so compassionate, surely she wouldn’t refuse a request from a cripple, right?"

This man really knows how to hit where it hurts.

Vera didn’t bother with his sarcastic remarks and went into the small kitchen.

Everything was arranged as if she hadn’t left.

Vera put on an apron; she hadn’t eaten much herself, so she made two bowls of noodles. Watching the steaming pot, she was montarily lost, as if nothing had happened.

It wasn’t until soone hugged her from behind that she snapped back to reality.

"It’ll take a while longer." Vera tried to push his hand away.

But Winston Valentine held her tighter and murmured in her ear, "I’m your boyfriend, and you repel like this; are you planning to stay chaste for him?"

Vera turned off the stove and faced him, looking at him seriously, "I’m not planning to stay chaste for anyone. I’ve decided to start over with you, but I need ti to accept you again."

Winston gently touched her cheek, "Give so confidence, will you?"

Vera looked at him, confused.

"Prove to you’re not rejecting because of him." Winston leaned in, and only then did Vera notice he had changed into a robe, his skin discreetly visible at the chest.

Winston took her hand and placed it on his chest, "From now on you can feel it anyti, okay?"

Her palm brushed his chest and abs; Vera tried to pull back but couldn’t, and as he moved her hand further down, her cheeks flushed, "Winston Valentine, that’s enough!"

"I’ve been holding back for too long." Winston hugged her, whispering in her ear, "Prove it to , please?"

Vera refused to move.

Winston continued, "Vera, how would you feel if you saw kissing another woman right now? Do you even know how cruel you are to ?"

The guilt reached its peak, and Vera closed her eyes.

Winston kissed her lips, and the temperature in the kitchen gradually rose.

Later, Vera washed her hands several tis before making noodles again.

Winston took a shower, his whole deanor refreshed.

After eating, Vera wanted to leave, but Winston wouldn’t let her, "I’m not joking; my head is really a bit dizzy."

Vera checked his pulse and administered a few acupuncture needles.

She called Hannah Hayes, saying she’d sleep at Linda Young’s tonight; Hannah did not doubt the truth of her words.

Vera wanted to sleep in the guest room, but Winston refused, "I asked you to stay with , not to avoid ."

Vera suggested sleeping on the floor, but Winston still refused, "The double bed—you personally chose the mattress. You’ve slept here many tis; it doesn’t poke."

Vera looked at the bed, her cheeks slowly reddened, as most of their married life had been spent on that bed.

Winston looked serious, "I’m not that impatient."

Vera rubbed her still sore wrist and gave him a disdainful glance.

Winston walked to her side, smiling, "Do you lack confidence in or in yourself?"

Vera grew agitated seeing his smile.

"I’m sleeping on the floor, is that okay?" Winston laid the bedding she brought on the floor, then got into it after taking off his pajamas.

Vera went to the closet; her clothes were indeed still there. She took so pajamas and went to the bathroom to shower.

The phone rang.

Winston glanced at Vera’s phone, stood up, walked over, and seeing the caller ID, he answered without speaking.

Zoe Monroe’s voice, tinged with tears, ca through, "Vera, the doctor just examined my cousin and said his stomach bleeding is severe; he needs imdiate surgery. Can you co see him?"

"She’s in the shower," Winston’s voice was cold, "If Counselor Monroe needs her, I can bring her over after she’s done."

Zoe paused hearing Winston’s voice.

Outside the operating room was quiet, so Winston’s words clearly reached Miles Monroe, who closed his eyes in pain.

A nurse ca and pushed him into the operating room.

The busy tone sounded from the phone, Zoe tightened her grip on it, cursing him for being a liar.

Theodore Xavier approached, "Don’t worry, I asked the doctor; it’s not serious."

Zoe couldn’t even be bothered to lift her eyelids, "Why haven’t you left yet?"

"I helped get him to the hospital, and not even a thank you?"

Finally, looking at him, Zoe sincerely said, "Thank you."

Seeing he wouldn’t move, Zoe bowed ninety degrees, "Special thanks, is that enough?"

Theodore chuckled, "In such a hurry to sever ties with ?"

"I’m afraid I’m too boring, an eyesore for you," Zoe also smiled, "Anything else from President Xavier?"

"You were drunk that day; I won’t hold it against you."

Zoe bead brightly, "Thank you, President Xavier, for your generosity."

Theodore drew closer, "I’ll pretend I didn’t hear about the breakup."

Zoe’s smile faded, "If your hearing is poor, visit ENT. President Xavier, please don’t lower your standards with pestering."

"You slap , then break up," Theodore whispered, "Zoe Monroe, be honest, are you afraid I’d hit back?"

Fearlessly, Zoe leaned her face toward him, "Go on, hit ; then we’re even."

Theodore’s grin vanished, "I don’t have a habit of hitting won."

"Theodore Xavier, deep down you look down on , just playing around," Zoe faced him expressionlessly, "Aren’t you just upset about being publicly dumped? Tell people you dumped ; consider it returning that slap."

"My reputation isn’t that fragile." Theodore walked away after leaving those words.

Vera finished her shower, applied skincare products, turned off the room lights, leaving only the bedside lamp, and finally got into bed.

"Just so you know, I’m only staying one night."

Winston looked at the mound on the bed and said coldly, "I don’t want my girlfriend kissing other n frequently, either."

Vera was too bothered to respond, searched for her phone in vain, then looked at the man on the floor, "Did you take my phone?"

"Your phone ran out of battery," Winston pointed beside him, "It’s charging here."

The spot was far from the bed, requiring her to go around Winston to get her phone.

Despite having a charging spot by the bed, she couldn’t understand why he took her phone so far away.

Winston looked at her, speaking forlornly, "In my bed, don’t think about other n."
