"It should be the thirteenth floor. Soone reported it to the police, and the person has been arrested. They’re cleaning up the scene now."

Vera Yves was hesitating whether to go upstairs when soone called her. After she answered the call, Vera hurried upstairs. She could still see traces of blood in the corridor and returned ho to find a ss all over the place.

A faint sll of blood was lingering in the air.

"Are you Miss Yves? Please take stock of your items and check if anything is missing."

Vera quickly ran to the study and found that it had been turned upside down as well, but fortunately, the docunts she had organized were still there.

Vera walked to the living room, "Excuse , what happened?"

"Soone broke into your apartnt to steal things, and your neighbor saw it and held the person down. They’ve already been sent to the station. By the way, your neighbor was injured and has been taken to the hospital."

Vera thought of Winston Valentine, but then shook her head, it should be the new neighbor, "Do you know which hospital he was taken to?"

"I have his contact information here. He really did you a big favor, you should properly thank him."

Vera counted so more items and found that several of her bank cards were missing from ho. She reported them as lost, gave a statent, sent the police officers off, and then picked up the business card and dialed the number.

At the hospital.

Walter Lowell stood by the bedside, saw the incoming call display, and handed the phone to Winston Valentine, "President Valentine, it’s a call from... Miss Yves."

Winston Valentine took the phone and answered the call.

"Hello, I’m the resident of 1301, thank you..."

"Miss Yves, is this how you thank soone, without sincerity?"

"Winston Valentine, it’s really you!"

"If it wasn’t , who would you think it was? Who else would risk their life for those trivial things of yours?"

Vera clenched her phone, "Who asked you to risk your life!"

Winston Valentine pressed on the wound on his abdon, "You really have no conscience."

"Which hospital are you in?"

Winston Valentine raised his eyebrow, "Are you going to visit ?"

"I’ll send you a bouquet of flowers as thanks for your bravery."

"Vera, do you know how seriously injured I am for you?" Winston Valentine said leisurely, "Haven’t you heard of the saying, ’A favor as tiny as a drop should be repaid with a gushing spring’?"

"No, I haven’t." Vera’s attitude was cold, "You’re not dead yet, are you?"

"If you keep provoking , I might just be soon."

Vera chose to hang up the phone. She set her phone aside and looked at the ssy room, wondering when she’d be able to clean up this disaster.

First, Vera contacted soone to change the door lock, then started to tidy up.

When Miles Monroe arrived in the evening, she had just finished sorting out the living room, "Miles, have a seat in the living room for a mont."

Miles followed her into the study, saw the scattered items everywhere, and furrowed his brows, "What happened?"

Vera said helplessly, "Soone broke in to steal."

Miles hurriedly approached her, "Were you hurt?"

Vera shook her head, "They broke in while I was out, and by the ti I returned, the person was caught. It was the guy next door... Winston who helped , nothing was lost."

"Why didn’t you tell ?"

"Anyway, the person has been caught."

"Vera, I’m your boyfriend. Such a big incident has happened, why didn’t you contact at the first mont?"

Vera was taken aback; she indeed hadn’t thought of contacting anyone.

"Maybe I’ve gotten used to it."

After being married to Winston Valentine for over three years, she got used to handling everything by herself, resolving any issues on her own. After all, there was no one to rely on.

Miles hugged her close, "Vera, you have now, you know?"

Vera slled his reassuring scent and hugged him back, "Mm."

"You can depend on , just like you did when you were little."

Can she really?

Vera looked up at him, "Miles, I’m hungry."

Since she got back that afternoon, she had been busy and hadn’t eaten dinner.

"Leave the stuff; I’ll tidy it up later. I’ll go cook so noodles for you first."

Miles ruffled the top of her head and left the study. Vera put a few docunts on the desk and then rembered Winston Valentine’s words.

The police said it was two people who broke in, but only one acted bravely.

She shook her head, telling herself not to overthink.

Very soon, Miles had cooked a bowl of noodle soup for her, with an egg fried on top, and Vera sat down at the dining table.

"Try it, see if it’s a familiar taste."

Vera took a few bites and gave him a thumbs-up.

Miles smiled, "You eat first, I’ll go tidy up the study for you."

Vera nodded and obediently continued eating the noodles.

When she was about to finish, Vera suddenly rembered sothing. She quickly stood up and dashed into the study, where Miles stood facing the bookshelf, turned around as he heard footsteps, "Finished eating?"

Vera saw what he was holding in his hand and hurriedly went over to grab it. Miles lifted it high, "What’s the matter?"

"That’s my stuff, don’t look at it!"

Miles wrapped an arm around her waist, leaned in close to her ear, and said, "The love letter you wrote to , how can that be considered your stuff?"

Vera’s cheeks turned embarrassingly red, "I didn’t give it, so it’s still mine!"

"It’s mine now."

"Don’t you dare look!" Vera urgently covered his eyes.

Miles held her hand, "I won’t look. How about you read it to ?"

Such a juvenile thing, she definitely won’t read it!

"Vera, I saw many things too, the birthday gifts I sent back for you from M-Country, why haven’t you opened any of them?"

"Didn’t want to unpack them."

"Why?"

"Because I’ve already started a new life. You can’t let yourself linger in the past." Vera’s voice was calm.

Miles leaned in and hugged her, speaking softly, "The first year, I sent you a stuffed diamond bear because I thought the bear’s silly expression resembled you."

"The second year, it was a bottle of perfu, the scent imdiately reminded of you."

"The third year, it was a diamond necklace... because I saw a picture of you shared by soone, and you looked stunning in a gown. The fourth year..."

Miles sighed silently, "At the ti, I thought you had no conscience. I sent you a gift every year, and you never rembered my birthday, never sent any gift."

"You went so far away, and still want gifts, isn’t that too greedy?"

Miles looked down at her, "I’m even more greedy now."

Vera t his intense gaze, her breath halted. Miles slowly leaned in, but suddenly Vera covered her lips, "No, I just ate noodles, I haven’t brushed my teeth yet!"

Warm lips landed on her forehead.

Vera seized the mont to grab back her love letter from him, "I’ll go continue eating noodles, and you keep tidying up."

Miles held her wrist, "You just said your neighbor acted bravely, and he got injured. Tomorrow, we should go to the hospital together to thank him."

"You’re so busy, I’ll go by myself."

"No matter how busy, there’s ti for this." Miles smiled at her, "For such an important thing, you need to thank him in person to show sincerity."
