Chapter 899: Chapter 899 The One He Loves is Back (Part 13)_1
Madeleine and her mother quickly turned their heads upon hearing this and indeed saw Howard Coleman standing outside the small living room door, holding sothing in his hands.
Although Madeleine and Howard had divorced, the relationship between the two families had not been estranged because of the children but remained as usual. Madeleine’s mother saw Howard and quickly stood up, “Howard is here?”
Howard nodded slightly, his complexion looking a bit pale, “Hello, Aunt.”
After pausing for a mont, he then explained the reason for his visit, “My mom brought back so fruit from Pavale, and she asked to deliver so over.”
Madeleine’s mother hurriedly took it and handed it to the maid to take away, then gestured to the sofa in the small living room, “Please, sit down.”
Howard nodded and stared at Madeleine for a while before he moved to sit down.
When Madeleine saw Howard, all the blood in her body seed to stop flowing. Her mind was filled with chaotic thoughts about how long Howard had been there and how much of her conversation with her mother he had heard.
But then she felt that maybe it was for the best, to let him think she had completely given up on him.
After Howard sat down, Madeleine flashed him a bright smile and stood up with a composed deanor, poured him a glass of water, and handed it to him. Then she spoke just as she used to, “Aunt Coleman really is sothing, always bringing us sothing back every ti she goes out.”
Madeleine thought to herself that her acting was really quite good – she should have applied to Ciawell Film Academy. Maybe she would be a first-tier actress now.
Deep down she was in turmoil, yet she managed movents so smoothly as if nothing had happened, greeting him so politely and naturally.
Listening to Madeleine’s chatty words, Howard didn’t speak, just lowered his eyes and watched her pour the water. His mind was filled with their conversation he had overheard after entering the house.
“Howard doesn’t like . There’s no aning in such a marriage. There’s no point in dragging it out, so I just divorced.”
“I thought I wouldn’t settle for anyone but Howard, but later I realized it was just my own obsession.”
Even later, when her mother suggested that she consider getting married again, she showed no opposition and readily agreed without a second thought.
He knew she had returned to West Suburb Villa today, so he made up an excuse to co and see her.
But what he heard was her expressing that she had completely lost heart towards him.
After quite so ti, Howard finally raised his head, smiled at Madeleine as a response to her earlier words, then picked up the cup and drank the water before standing up and saying, “I just ca to deliver so things. I should be going now.”
Madeleine’s mother had cut the fruit and brought it into the small dining room. Seeing Howard ready to leave, she earnestly called out to him twice, and, insistent, asked Madeleine to see Howard out.
Two steps behind Howard, Madeleine followed him to the front gate of the villa, where she then stopped in her tracks.
Howard also stopped and after a little while turned around, looked at Madeleine, and after an even longer pause, he asked, “I heard you talking with your Aunt. Are you planning to go on blind dates and get married?”
