Chapter 700: Chapter 397: No Way Out (Part 2)_1 Chapter 700: Chapter 397: No Way Out (Part 2)_1 “`

Not being controlled is even scarier than being controlled.

If the other party was controlled, then you could explain it as them having their minds manipulated by so demons, leading them to strike down their forr comrades.

But if they weren’t controlled, there are many more possibilities.

For instance, a sudden coup might have taken place here, the gods could have inflicted punishnt out of the blue, or the state religion collectively pledged allegiance to the Demon King.

If it’s not for such broad reasons, then it might be that the armored warrior has long harbored affection for the Idiotic Divine, and after discovering their beloved hadn’t returned, imdiately ca here to take them back, only to find that a bunch of n have been coming in and out of their lover’s room every day, leading to love turning to hatred.

Wang threw out his analysis all at once in the live stream, much to the delight of the audience.

[Wang, you’re good! Got anything better? I’ll tip you fifty, go treat yourself to so oily chicken legs this Thursday, and then tell another fifty’s worth.]

[A rhythmic rap would do, too!]

Wang imdiately grabbed the bamboo clappers from his drawer, and began to tap out a rhythm, saying, “Clapping these bamboo pieces, ah, it eases my impatience. So today, let’s talk, about Dave and the Idiotic Divine.”

[Good show, here’s a tip!]

[Is there anything you can’t pull out of that drawer of yours?!]

[I feel like Wang has had those clappers ready for years, just waiting for today.]

[I can testify to that, you’re right, I’m the clapper’s next door… fake…]

[Shut it! Do you want this place to get shut down?!]

Aiming for peak entertainnt, Wang noticed that the Idiotic Divine had already finished her business on the screen.

Although she usually looked quite dopey, the Idiotic Divine had a fair bit of experience when it ca to wrongdoing.

In such a short ti, she’d stripped Dave down to his underwear, then tied him to a pillar, shackling his limbs and attaching weights and chains to him.

Thanks to players these days, she had no shortage of resources, so tying up a sturdy guy was no trouble at all.

Moreover, players would send all sorts of things, weights and the like being re child’s play, which sowhat astonished Wang.

You dare to give, and she dares to take, you’re both so bold.

Feeling that she had bound him sufficiently, the Idiotic Divine splashed a basin of cold water over Dave, then dragged over a chair to sit across from him, looking down and demanding, “Talk. Why did you want to kill ? Is sleeping with soone such a costly affair these days?”

Underneath the armor, Dave was a youth who looked to be only eighteen, a clear and foolish college student by today’s standards, but here, he was a guy donned in armor, chopping people down.

Contrary to his sowhat green face, his physique was surprisingly solid, with broad shoulders and a powerful build, looking significantly older than Dave himself.

Facing the Idiotic Divine, Dave didn’t dodge the question but said frankly, “I’m not going to tell.”

“He’s a tough guy,” Wang praised, “Idiotic Divine, since we’ve got a tough guy here, let’s give him a quick end.”

The Idiotic Divine gave Wang a dissatisfied glance. “Is that supposed to be sothing a human would say? Life is precious; how can we just take soone else’s life like that?”

“Hey, are you still playing the Virgin Mary?”

“So, we have to use torture.”

Watching the Idiotic Divine innocently utter such devilish words, Wang realized that they had all underestimated this silly girl before.

You think she’s into role-playing with you, but she’s gone straight for the kill.

Rummaging through the pile of oddities the players had given, the Idiotic Divine pulled out a large pair of pliers and said to Dave, “I know you’re a tough man, and nothing will make you talk. So, say goodbye to your body!”

Glancing at the pliers, Dave swallowed hard, and finally struggled to say, “Does the doctrine of the state religion allow you to use torture?”

“As long as no one sees it.”

“But I’m watching!”

“`

“We’ll be out of sight in a bit.”

Dave swallowed hard again before resigning himself to say, “Alright, I confess. I’m here on the Bishop’s orders. Even though we’ve evacuated the place, we still have a considerable number of scouts active here.”

Wang, who had been listening by the side, suddenly realized and then said to the audience in the live stream, “I was wondering why we kept seeing suspicious shadows. It turns out they were scouts.”

[…Wang, you’re just realizing this now?]

[Wang’s insight is nothing short of tragic.]

[Just by looking at those guys, you can tell they’re scouts. Don’t tell you didn’t know before and this isn’t just for the sake of the show’s impact.]

“I, of course, knew that. I was just trying to make you all a little happier.”

[I didn’t laugh at the previous jokes, but this one got .]

While the live-streaming room filled with jovial air, Dave had already spoken his piece.

“The Bishop noticed that there are often beings wandering the Dark Forest who are not human but created by so mysterious force. The Bishop suspects it’s a new ability of the Demon King. So, he ordered us holy knights to co here and take care of all you female priests who’ve lost contact.”

“Wait a minute!” Idiotic Divine interjected, “You an to say, you have the ability to monitor this area, but not the power to bring back?”

“Sorry, we’ve assessed that, on average, transporting back the lost female priests would cost 0.8 holy knights per priest.”

“Oh, well, then there’s nothing to be done.”

Idiotic Divine sighed helplessly, a bit dissatisfied with the outco, but also without a solution.

Wang looked at Idiotic Divine, puzzled, and then asked, “So, you’re just giving up? He thinks your life is worth less than a holy knight’s.”

“Yeah, that’s just the way it is. Our lives were never as valuable as a holy knight’s to begin with.”

Wang was stupified for a mont, feeling that life shouldn’t be asured by value, but in a world invaded by the Demon King, it seed not so unacceptable.

After all, the goal here is to survive. Every life serves this purpose, and so life gains its own value, asured as a currency on the scales.

Though it was just a minor detail, Wang still felt a surge of complex emotions.

Idiotic Divine, having regained her composure, then asked another question, “If you’re worried about these warriors having issues, then why don’t you just kill them?”

“We can’t kill them all; their numbers are too many. But according to our observations, most of them seem to co from your location. So we figure, if we kill you, they probably won’t show up anymore.”

“I see, then there’s no helping it,” Idiotic Divine sighed, “I’m sorry, Holy Knight Dave, for having to resort to punishnt.”

“No, I’m sorry too, having to kill you,” Dave replied.

Idiotic Divine helplessly unlocked Dave’s chains, and Dave picked up his weapon, ready to behead Idiotic Divine.

Witnessing this, Wang imdiately took out a deck of cards and smoothly knocked Dave out.

Ready to accept her fate, Idiotic Divine looked at Wang disgruntled, “What are you doing?”

“He was about to behead you!”

“But he was under the Bishop’s order.”

“No one’s order justifies that!”

“But the Bishop possesses a special Divine Artifact. By his command, those killed by the holy knights he dispatches will ascend directly to heaven and beco warriors by the side of the Gods. Although it’s a bit painful, it’s just the way things are.”

“That’s obviously a lie!”

Gasp for breath, Wang pulled Idiotic Divine to her feet and said, “I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to et your Bishop and expose his lies in person. I’ll let everyone know the Bishop is a fraud!”

Watching Wang, filled with righteous indignation, Idiotic Divine thought these warriors were indeed strange.
