Chapter 424: Chapter 255: A Great Humiliation (Part 1)_1

Having received a wooden token, Kevin finally officially moved into St. Louis.

This place looked like a prison, but it had already beco an underground city.

It had its own mines, the slag from which would be mixed and calcined to produce good building materials.

It also had relations with other places; so of the lumber mills had been bought up by the Angel Envoys and were continuously supplying raw materials here.

After careful calculation, Kevin found the amount of materials needed here was absurdly large.

The resources of the entire Yifate seed barely sufficient to satisfy the appetite of this prison, and the modified steam engine was like a terrifying beast, ingesting the raw materials and churning out products.

The system here was also quite peculiar; Angel Envoys and residents were intermixed, forming nurous guilds, coordinating their respective production lines to keep producing a variety of products without interruption.

Although Kevin was a bit curious about what exactly was being produced here, he was not qualified to enter the lower levels and didn’t know what those Angel Envoys were up to.

The wooden token issued to him bore his basic information and address, engraved with machinery, which showed a high level of chanization here.

However, what displeased Kevin was that his noble rank wasn’t marked on it, only the words “Forr Noble.”

Seeing these words, Kevin sneered.

Even though he had committed a cri, the upper echelons of Yifate had not stripped him of his noble title; how dared they make him a “forr noble” here?

The rights of nobility were sacred and inviolable; how dared they.

With dissatisfaction, he went to his new residence, and his displeasure turned into anger.

The dwelling was a converted cell, just with bars removed, walls erected, and the iron door replaced with a wooden one bearing a door tag; the space was even smaller than his own bathroom.

So, why did I take the bla for Drey in the first place!

With dissatisfaction in his heart, he walked into his new room, and then almost exploded with rage.

It was actually a double room!

In the small room with two beds which, although tidy, made him feel like the air stank at the thought of living with a stranger.

His roommate had already been living there for a while, and was leisurely reading a book on the bed. Upon seeing Kevin, he looked up amiably and said, “Hello, you must be my new roommate. Nice to et you.”

“I’m not pleased,” Kevin said with a stern face.

The new roommate was a man with sowhat disheveled hair, ordinary looks, but a very friendly countenance.

Sensing Kevin’s uncooperative attitude, he looked up with interest, scrutinizing Kevin, then said with a smile, “Forr noble?”

“Current noble,” Kevin stated emphatically.

“Oh, then I suppose I am too,” replied the other.

The identity of the other relaxed Kevin’s attitude slightly, though he still didn’t look very happy.

The young man didn’t mind; after all, all new nobles were like this.

Including himself.

Noticing that Kevin had brought no luggage, the young man stood up, retrieved clothing and toiletries from a nearby cabinet, and handed them to Kevin.

“These are the issued clothes; check if they fit. If not, you can get them exchanged,” he said.

Kevin inspected the clothes and found the fabric to be fresh and that there was a sour sll.

The color was quite bright, and they felt nice to the touch, which Kevin found quite satisfying.

The toiletries included a toothbrush, a new towel, tooth powder for brushing teeth, and a piece of soap; although very ordinary in appearance, they were of good quality.

Seeing Kevin curiously examining these items, the young man said with a smile, “These are items produced within the prison; you can get more when you run out, but don’t eat them.”

“I know!”

Pointing at the young man, Kevin said arrogantly, “Co here, help sort out my clothes, and then assist with changing.”

Kevin’s current clothes were prison garnts, the rough texture chafed his skin painfully, and he urgently needed a piece of clothing to change out of them.

However, back at ho, he had servants to help him dress, and without them, he didn’t even know how to put on clothes.

The young man didn’t move, simply watching Kevin with keen interest.

This attitude irked Kevin, who asked impatiently, “What are you looking at?”

“I feel as though I’m seeing my forr self. When I arrived here half a month ago, I didn’t know how to dress myself either.”

“And now?”

“Still don’t know, but I’ve learned to don clothes. I leave the buttons fastened, wash them like that, and just tuck them in when I put them on.”

“I see… so aren’t you going to co and help get dressed?”

“Do it yourself,” the young man returned to his bed and continued to read leisurely, “Here, you must do everything on your own – dress, bathe, get books, eat. You’ll only get to eat if you work every day; weekends are off. Stop acting like a noble; everyone in this area is a forr noble.”

“But I am a level-five noble!”

“I’m a level-three noble.”

At those words, Kevin lost all his previous airs.

He stood silently for a while, about to speak, when he saw the young man flip the book to the second cover, revealing an emblem inside.

An emblem was a mandatory subject for every noble; each family’s emblem was unique, encapsulating a family’s history and lineage.

An emblem’s pattern was very complex, but every single line contained its own unique history and heritage; it was a compulsory course for every noble.
