Hans stared at the statue for a couple more minutes and a sudden movent from the statue’s eyes which felt as if it was moving startled him. Just then Marissa ca toward him, hugging his arms, "What’s wrong? Did I spook you with the story?"

Hans turned at her and smiled, "No, I suppose I was just tired. All those scenes of cases the other night have seed to gotten over my head."

"Right, cases," Marissa sighed as she heard about the remnant and heard of the cases that follows it, including the deaths that followed after remnants were released. The past few days the deaths had slowed down yet just a day before, right when the human hunt was around the corner, more deaths occurred and it seed to happen inside the prison cell...

"Don’t worry," Hans said to her happily, "Once we leave the castle, I won’t have to work with dead bodies anymore."

She chuckled in return, "I thought you like working in the castle, captain guard?"

"I do," Hans answered, "But it’s not for the reason you think. If I could choose another job, I’d like to be a baker. You know how I like baking don’t you?"

Marissa nodded, "Then I have an idea. Once we leave the castle we should make a bakery. Thankfully I have so jewelries with that if we sell could allow us to by a good place in a town."

"Thank you," Hans said, "I promise I won’t let you have a day where you’re hungry."

"Ahahaha," Marissa chuckled, "You could just give blood of yours, I won’t be hungry."

Hans humd, "I thought that would sounds romantic but I forgot that it’s different for vampires."

"Silly, it is romantic," she kissed his cheeks and they both walked away from the grave.

Seeing her side profile, Hans recalled seeing Cassius in such a close up a few days ago. He was indeed a handso man, a handso and frightening one at that. But perhaps because he bore similarities to Marissa, he didn’t find Cassius so unreachable. Just like Marissa, Hans felt that Cassius must be a soft hearted person.

Murderous? Sure. But not the monster they have preached him to be.

Instead the monster that felt like one was the King.

When Hans first saw him, he felt the chill down to his spine. It wasn’t the type of a "strict" King. It was a King who saw everything as pawns in his chessboard. A King who doesn’t think it’s necessary to care about soone’s life but his own.

He doesn’t think the Kingdom he needs to protect is his people but rather himself, even if it ans having to harm his children for it.

Getting back to present, Hans looked at Marissa. Their plan to elope was by tomorrow’s midnight. Marissa hadn’t shown any emotions on wanting to stay, perhaps because she knew the mont she does so, he wouldn’t hesitate to convince her to stay in the castle which she didn’t want as she had made up her mind to leave while he wants that she doesn’t leave the place where she belongs with such a heavy heart and then have to live the rest of her life with the regret.

"Have you talked with your brother?" Hans asked and when he t her eyes, he could see the glimpse of her surprise.

She cald herself and turned, "No. He has been busy the past few days but I have talked to the girl who he had chosen to be with him. My brother is foolish. How can he not know the mont he fell for that girl? When he saw Arabella for the first ti, I was there. I watched from afar how his red eyes widened and his expression felt more alive than ever. I suppose that is what you would call as love at first sight."

Hans chuckled, "She must be a beauty if the Crown Prince falls for her at first sight."

She nodded, "She is, and... she’s a kind person. I wish I could be like her."

"Why? You’re perfect the way you are," Hans said at once. "But I wish that you would talk to your brother Marissa. I think he would be sad if he had to see you leave without hearing anything from you beforehand."

"He won’t," she sighed, "He didn’t care when I left the castle the first ti."

"But he does, he cares about the person you chose to be with and if that is not care, what is it?" Hans asked her gently as he patted her head, "Give him a chance, give yourself a chance. We don’t know when we would be able to see them again so tonight, don’t waste your ti. I will also do the sa to et my family."

"Your brother, the one who would help you leave," Marissa asked and he nodded. "Right you told that the two of you used to have such a big fight about sothing. What was it about?"

Hans sighed, slightly uncomfortable, "Vampires and humans. He disliked vampires to his core. But no worries, now he has changed. He had even adopted a vampire child who I have called my nephew. I haven’t seen him in a while but since exchanging letters again, he told he had nad that baby nephew of mine as Aleksander. I can’t wait to show him to you."

Marissa smiled, "Then you need to go now right?" She leaned and kissed his lips, winking her eyes, "Go and have a talk with your brother, I... will try what I can do with Cassius."

"Thank you for listening to my advice, love," Hans leaned forward and pecked on her forehead.

"But have you told your brother you would be visiting him?" Marissa continued to ask as they reached the entrance of the castle. "You always forgot to tell people when you would be visiting them."

"Oh!" Hans awkwarldy rubbed his head, "Well it should be a surprise then. I wonder how surprised both of our brothers would be upon seeing us visiting them."

"Mine would be awkward," Marissa sighed as she then parted with Hans, finding his brown eyes glittering to be totally beautiful. Then she made her way in front of Cassius’s study room where she stood quietly and lingered for more than an hour, her hands never once touching the door knob in hesitation.
