Xiang Wei listened and mocked: "A married daughter is like spilled water? Indeed, a daughter ticulously raised becos soone else’s, and in the end, a hefty dowry is still needed. It’s quite a loss. Mingzhu, I really pity your future daughter; she’ll surely be a pitiful little cabbage."

Mingzhu just casually ntioned it, but was ridiculed by Xiang Wei like that, stomping her feet and saying: "Nonsense! A daughter is a mother’s close little cotton-padded jacket. If I had a daughter, I’d love her too much, I wouldn’t neglect her."

Yueyao saw Xiang Wei was about to tease Mingzhu again and interrupted Xiang Wei, saying: "Knowing she’s pregnant and can’t be upset, can’t you be gentler with her?"

Yueyao, in order to distract Mingzhu, talked about Old Marquis adding to her dowry.

Mingzhu, however, felt her father was too stingy: "My father is too tightfisted, only giving this bit of dowry? I’m his biological daughter, you can’t compare , but it should at least be half of mine, right? Yueyao, don’t worry, I’ll make my father give you what’s missing when I go back."

Xiang Wei said coolly: "Your dowry is sixty acres of land and eight shops, even half of it is thirty acres and four shops. Can you convince the Old Marquis?"

Mingzhu hesitated and said: "Maybe not that much, but at least it should be two thousand acres of fertile land and shops!"

Yueyao held her forehead. Mingzhu’s thoughts were already jumping, and with Xiang Wei fanning the flas, things that are fine could beco problematic.

Bai Yi was standing by with a smile.

Mingzhu planned to stay overnight at Yueyao’s, accompanying her until she got married. Yueyao didn’t rush her away; she was waiting for Niu Yanghui to co over.

At You Hour (5-7 pm), Niu Yanghui ca to get Mingzhu. At first, Mingzhu didn’t want to go back, but then the young servant by Niu Yanghui’s side said: "Young lady, the young master said if you don’t go back, he will wait at the door until you decide to return."

Bai Yi then said at the side: "Don’t you know what sort of person your husband is? If you wouldn’t co, he’d surely wait outside all day."

Mingzhu was struggling! If she went back this ti, she surely wouldn’t be able to see Yueyao until after her marriage. Missing Yueyao’s wedding would be a huge regret for her. Mingzhu hesitated, unsure whether to compromise or persist!

Yueyao linked her arm and said: "You have a family now, you can’t just stay out all night. Co on, I’ll walk you to the door."

In the end, Mingzhu compromised.

When Mingzhu saw Niu Yanghui’s sullen face, her confidence wavered. Yet, Mingzhu was never one to admit defeat easily, so she straightened her back and said: "I told you yesterday, I would co today to add to Yueyao’s dowry, you knew this, didn’t you?"

Niu Yanghui took a deep breath; he had agreed yesterday to let Mingzhu co add to the dowry, but he hadn’t known then that Mingzhu was already a month pregnant. When he heard that Mingzhu insisted on coming despite knowing about her pregnancy, he was very upset. And when he heard that Mingzhu planned to stay until Yueyao’s wedding, his anger flared up: "In your eyes, is Miss Lian more important than and our child?"

Mingzhu felt his words were off: "What? I promised Yueyao I’d watch her step into her bridal sedan chair. A gentleman keeps his word, naturally, I must fulfill what I’ve said."

Niu Yanghui looked at Mingzhu who still refused to admit fault, his face dark and silent.

Mingzhu initially felt she was justified, but seeing Niu Yanghui’s deanor, she felt a bit guilty. Actually, the reason she ca after lunch today was because Bai Yi had held her back. She had to convince Bai Yi with great effort later on.

In front of Niu Yanghui, as Yueyao said, she was just a paper tiger. After half a quarter of an hour, Mingzhu said ekly: "I know I was wrong today, but Yueyao is my best sister. If I didn’t co to see her, I would regret it for a lifeti. Husband, I truly didn’t an to. Don’t worry, after going back, I’ll focus on my pregnancy care."

Niu Yanghui, seeing Mingzhu looking pitiful, sternly said: "Let it go this ti, but there’s not to be a next ti."

Mingzhu imdiately moved from sadness to joy, coyly embracing Niu Yanghui and said: "Husband, you’re the best."

Niu Yanghui found it both amusing and frustrating, ultimately sighing helplessly, holding her in his arms.
