Yueyao said, "Isn’t that just it? Do you think her brain got flooded with water? Clearly being betrothed and still sneaking off for private etings, isn’t that courting death? It’s almost certain that soone set her up."
Just who could have masterminded this plan remained unknown.
Thinking of this, Yueyao looked at Xiang Wei, a woman always quick to retaliate. Yueyao asked, "You wouldn’t tell it was you who had a hand in this, would you?"
A smile crossed Xiang Wei’s lips, "I rely let soone inform Ning Lixuan of the day Mu Qinglian went to Hualin Temple to offer incense, nothing else did I do." Qinglian had been up to no good behind the scenes for too long; Xiang Wei couldn’t let her off so easily. Of course, Xiang Wei knew Yueyao’s temperant—not one to engage in overly malicious deeds—so stirring a little trouble subtly wouldn’t hurt.
Mingzhu was overjoyed, "Xiang Wei, was this really your doing?"
Xiang Wei replied with feigned innocence, "I rely heard Ning Lixuan was lovesick to the point of nearly dying. The Buddha says, ’Saving a life supersedes the construction of a seven-tiered pagoda,’ so I simply had soone pass on the news."
Yueyao was exasperated, "So you’re saying you’ve done a good deed."
Mingzhu was displeased, "Why such severity in your tone? Xiang Wei rely divulged information; it’s Mu Qinglian herself who lacked propriety. Had she not been of two minds, why would she talk alone with Ning Lixuan? Had she not talked alone with Ning Lixuan, how could others suspect a clandestine eting?"
By the side, Xiang Wei said, "Miss, for years that Mu Qinglian has been tarnishing your reputation, even plotting cunningly to matchmake Shen Conghao. This woman simply cannot stand to see you prosper." Xiang Wei had investigated thoroughly; it was Qinglian who had stirred up the affair with Su Yuzhen. With such a person, you need not show any rcy.
Upon hearing this, Mingzhu flew into a rage, "What are you saying? The matter with Su Yuzhen was orchestrated by Mu Qinglian? Xiang Wei, what exactly happened?" Mingzhu was yet unaware of Mu Qinglian’s role in their annulled engagent.
Xiang Wei relayed the information she had gathered to Mingzhu.
Mingzhu said bitterly, "This woman, I thought she had changed over these years, but she’s still full of malice. Xiang Wei, what you did this ti was right." Mingzhu felt that even this was letting Qinglian off too cheaply.
Seeing Yueyao’s dark expression, Xiang Wei hastened to say, "Miss, I only revealed this piece of news to Ning Lixuan, I did nothing more."
Yueyao looked heavenwards, speechless. Thankfully, Xiang Wei didn’t follow Mingzhu, otherwise these two would cause an even greater chaos.
In truth, Mingzhu had wronged Mu Qinglian.
Qinglian was simply unlucky. She had gone with her mother to offer incense today, not expecting to run into Ning Lixuan while taking a walk in the temple to clear her mind. As Mingzhu waited and waited, no news ca of Qinglian breaking off the engagent with the Mao family. Mingzhu muttered, "How can there be no follow-up till now? Could it be the Mao family hasn’t heard the rumor?" She had heard it; it was impossible for the Mao family to be unaware of the matter.
Yueyao mockingly said, "You’re really a ss. What kind of place is Hualin Temple, a sacred ground of Buddhism? It’s hardly a place for n and won to et privately." Yueyao disliked Hualin Temple because of shadows from her past life. But to be ranked just behind Zhaohua Temple, it must be remarkable.
Mingzhu sulked, "So disappointing. I thought Qinglian would break off the engagent too. At least that way, you could have been avenged, but now there’s not even a peep." Speaking of it, Qinglian really does have good luck."
However, Yueyao had a different opinion from Mingzhu. Regardless of the truth, Qinglian’s reputation was tarnished. A damaged reputation ant, even without breaking off the engagent, she’d be at a disadvantage in the future, and her married life would likely be difficult.
Mingzhu scoffed, "Yueyao, why worry so much? Qinglian is no fool; with her skills, even if she marries in the future, it won’t be too bad. But about you, Yueyao, have you ever thought about it, what kind of person do you want to marry?"

Mingzhu furrowed her brows, her sister-in-law was right; Yueyao had indeed developed such an undesirable thought, which was unacceptable, "Do you have no aspirations at all? If you never marry, Shen Conghao will think you’re doing it for his sake, and he might be delightfully mistaken."
