Chapter 647: Admitting a mistake

When the falling flowers pass by, the distant flow carries the fragrance.

While Yueyao was painting a scene of flowers falling into the water, she heard Xi Yu co over and say, “Miss, Miss Luo is here. You better go back!”

Yueyao seed not to hear, continuing to paint the withered flowers entering the water. To the current position Yueyao had reached, any scenery could be captured in her paintings, but to catch a view that would compel her to pick up the brush indeed was not easy.

Having waited in the Begonia Garden for over a Shichen, Mingzhu’s legs had gone numb, and she still had not seen Yueyao arrive. Mingzhu grew anxious, “Why hasn’t she co yet?”

Xiang Wei said leisurely, “You’re wondering why the Miss hasn’t co yet?” Under normal circumstances, when the Miss heard Mingzhu was coming, she would certainly hurry back. This ti, she hadn’t shown up in over a Shichen, and everyone present knew why.

Bai Yi glanced at Xiang Wei: “Madam, be patient, Miss Yueyao will arrive soon.”

Mingzhu complained, “But it really hurts!” Not only were her legs numb, but her whole body was in severe pain. If she had known that she would suffer this much, she wouldn’t have co to apologize with thorny branches.

Yueyao returned to the Begonia Garden near midday, and upon entering the yard, she saw Mingzhu standing in the center, carrying a bundle of thorns on her back, under the sun. Mingzhu’s face, once delicate and pretty, now resembled a calico cat from the sweat.

Pityingly, Mingzhu called out, “Yueyao, I’ve co to apologize with thorns.”

Looking at her state, Yueyao felt both annoyed and amused, but her anger had already dissipated. However, to ensure Mingzhu learned her lesson, Yueyao still said with a cold face, “Apologizing with thorns? For what wrong are you apologizing? I’m not aware of any wrongdoing.”

Mingzhu lowered her head and said, “I shouldn’t have spread your affairs without your consent. Yueyao, I really know I was wrong, please don’t be angry, okay?” Though she had protection on her back, the thorns occasionally piercing her arms were quite painful.

Yueyao snorted coldly: “Now you know you were wrong, but who knows when you’ll forget again.”

Mingzhu swore to the heavens, “There won’t be a next ti. If I carelessly talk about Yueyao’s matters again, may I turn into a little dog.”

Only then did Yueyao’s expression soften as she looked at the bundle of thorns on Mingzhu’s back, “Whose idea was this?” What a bad idea it was.

Bai Yi shook her head, indicating it was not her suggestion.

Mingzhu looked up, “Yueyao, it was my idea. I knew you were angry, so I purposely punished myself. Yueyao, it’s good you ca back. If you didn’t co back soon, I would have died of pain. These thorns really hurt when they stab my hands.”

Mingzhu said impatiently, “And you call yourself the Eldest Miss, what’s the difference between you and a three-year-old child? Go change your clothes quickly.”

With a pitiful expression, Mingzhu said, “Yueyao, I didn’t bring any clothes.”

Yueyao couldn’t be bothered, “Distinguished ladies of the Capital City always carry at least three outfits when they leave the house, as if I don’t know. Without clothing, just stay in what you’re wearing, I don’t have any clothes you could wear here.”

Bai Yi laughed, “We ca in such a hurry, indeed we didn’t bring clothes.”

Xi Yu stood and said, “Miss, Eldest Madam made you a new set of clothes, why don’t I bring it for Miss Luo to try?”

Xi Yu quickly brought the clothes over. The top was a pink and white ruì patterned crossing-collar spring shirt, paired with a light blue and gold-sprinkled twelve-sectioned moonlight skirt. These clothes ca from the Cloth Workshop, worth hundreds of silver pieces outside!

Watching Mingzhu wear this outfit, Yueyao shook her head, “You still look prettier in brighter garnts.” This style of clothing didn’t suit Mingzhu’s temperant.

Mingzhu agreed, “I also think it’s not good-looking! But it doesn’t matter, it’s only half a day, I’ll change when I go back.”

Zhuang Ruolan, hearing that Mingzhu was apologizing to Yueyao with thorns, laughed, “This Mingzhu, really acting recklessly. Although she said this outwardly, Zhuang Ruolan sincerely felt envious, youth is so wonderful! Once you grow up, you no longer have such carefree days.”

Cai Xiang smiled, “Miss Yao and Miss Luo have such a good relationship.”

Zhuang Ruolan smiled, “Yes, it’s really good. I hope they can continue being this close.” Mingzhu was becoming better and better, growing more and more likable.

After having lunch in the residence and chatting for a while, Mingzhu said, “Yueyao, my sister-in-law says you paint the Bodhisattva well and would like to commission a painting of the Goddess of rcy from you. When will you have ti?”

After considering, Yueyao said, “It can’t be done this year, I don’t have ti. Let’s say next year! Next year I’ll paint it for your sister-in-law.”

Knowing the reason, Mingzhu muttered, “Next year then! It’s not urgent anyway.”

Although Yueyao said she didn’t like Princess Wanhe, she couldn’t say she disliked her either: “Mingzhu, does Princess Wanhe really dislike Mu Qinglian?”
