When Wanting was thirteen, Nanny Dou was preparing to return to her hotown for retirent.
Wanting begged Nanny Dou to stay, but unfortunately, Nanny Dou refused. Before leaving, Nanny Dou said to Wanting: "I have taught you for six years, and you have made considerable progress, so I believe I have lived up to Madam’s trust." Originally, Wanting had countless flaws that made her almost want to give up. But after six years of education, although Wanting still had so shortcomings, they were minor issues, not significant problems. Everyone has flaws; no one is perfect, but as long as the main direction is correct, a little flaw is not an issue.
Wanting was stunned at that mont. The Wanting of today was vastly different from her six years ago. The Madam that Nanny Dou ntioned obviously could not be her stepmother, Lady Li.
Nanny Dou felt that Lady Lian had too good a character, putting in so much effort without seeking credit: "Six years ago, it was Lady Lian who hired at a high price to be your nurturing nanny, and even Mr. Yun was soone whom Madam painstakingly invited for you. Eldest Miss, I know you have always blad Madam because you believe that she caused your mother’s absence."
Wanting had always resented Yueyao. Even though today she is sensible and respectful, no longer hating Yueyao, there is still resentnt in her heart.
Nanny Dou, who was about to leave, said many things that were hard to say before: "Having taught you for so many years, you should know that I never lie. Your parents’ separation was fundantally their own issue and had nothing to do with your aunt." Nanny Dou truly believed that the separation between Lian Tingzheng and Lin Qinghan had nothing to do with Lady Lian; the problem lay entirely with Lian Tingzheng himself, unable to manage his woman and dragging down the sister who raised him. Fortunately, Lady Lian had always had a good reputation in the Capital City; otherwise, their separation could have caused Lady Lian much embarrassnt.
Thinking of Lian Tingzheng’s actions, Nanny Dou felt a wave of disgust. While other families might spoil concubines and neglect wives, Lian Tingzheng did not spoil concubines and neglect wives, but he did favor the concubine-born child while ignoring the legitimate child. Of course, in Lian Tingzheng’s case, perhaps the legitimate child being ignored was a blessing; at least, the Eldest Young Master, raised by him, was far inferior to the Second Young Master.
Wanting kept her head down, not speaking. Six years ago, she was immature, but through studying with the nanny and the teacher over these years, she was no longer the sa.
Nanny Dou spoke softly: "If you’re willing to heed my advice, in the future, visit the Earl’s Mansion more often. Your future marriage might rely on Madam!" Lady Li is not a bad person, and if she were to help Wanting choose a husband, she would certainly do her utmost to find a well-suited husband for Wanting. As a stepmother, Lady Li doing so much would already be comndable. But if Lady Lian were willing to intervene in Wanting’s marriage, she would surely choose a more suitable husband for Wanting, appearing similar on the surface but fundantally worlds apart.
Wanting kept her head down, finding it extrely difficult to cross that divide.
Nanny Dou sighed and said: "If you do not wish to go to the Earl’s Mansion, then you must get along well with the Li family." Having spent six years together, even cats and dogs would have developed so affection, let alone with her own student; Nanny Dou also hoped for Wanting’s well-being.
Wanting nodded and said: "I will."
When Nanny Dou was leaving, she said to Wanting: "In the future, think twice before acting, and do not follow your impulses; this way, you won’t suffer losses." Lin Qinghan was too impulsive, leading to such an outco.
Wanting nodded continuously.
Shortly after Nanny Dou left, Mr. Yun also ca to resign. However, Mr. Yun was persuaded by Lady Li to stay, as Pinting was already six years old and Yiting was nearly five. Lady Li wanted to hire Mr. Yun to teach Pinting. Over the years, Lady Li had also realized that both Nanny Dou and Mr. Yun had genuine talent and knowledge. But Nanny Dou wanted to return ho to retire, and Lady Li couldn’t keep her.
Pinting was smart and lovable, and Yiting was very obedient. The two children were raised well by Lady Li, and the paynt for private tutoring offered by Lady Li was generous, so Mr. Yun naturally agreed.
Lady Li sought out Wanting and said to her: "You are already thirteen this year; it is ti for you to learn how to manage household affairs." Lady Li intended to keep Wanting by her side to teach her how to handle stewardship.
Wanting was sowhat surprised, but Lady Li’s proposal was beneficial to her, and since she also wanted to maintain a good relationship with Lady Li, Wanting agreed imdiately.
Afterwards, Wanting began learning household managent from Lady Li. Lady Li held nothing back; she would correct Wanting’s mistakes but also praised and rewarded her when she did well.
