Brother Xu’s eyes were red: "Mother, has Father abandoned ?" Brother Xu thought this way primarily because An Zhichen was very strict with the children and didn’t show particular affection for them. Now that they were giving him to soone else, it was natural for Brother Xu to think this way.
Yueyao shook her head and said, "If your father didn’t want you, he wouldn’t have refused the Second Great-Grandpa’s request. Don’t overthink it, mother just wants you to be ntally prepared."
Brother Xu loudly declared, "I will never go to their house again." Brother Xu decided that from this mont on, he would dislike that Second Paternal Great-uncle.
That night, Brother Shengsheng and his two brothers went to find An Zhichen. Yueyao didn’t know what was said, but she did know that An Zhichen punished all three of the children.
An Zhichen returned to the room in a fury, looking at Yueyao, "Did you tell the children about this?" Only the couple knew about this, and besides Yueyao, there wasn’t a second person.
Yueyao did not deny it.
An Zhichen was extrely irritated, "Didn’t I say I would try to persuade the Second Old Grand Master? Why did you do this?" All three sons gritted their teeth and refused to admit their mistake, even after punishnt, especially Brother Xu, who said he would rather die than be soone else’s son. An Zhichen was furious.
Yueyao actually didn’t trust An Zhichen. For n, loyalty is of utmost importance, and An Zhichen would eventually cave to the pressure of the Second Old Grand Master and compromise. However, these words couldn’t be said out loud: "The children also have the right to know."
An Zhichen was both angry and annoyed, but couldn’t vent his anger on Yueyao, and finally, he stord back to the front courtyard, not returning to sleep at night and directly sleeping in the study.
This was the first argunt in their ten years of marriage. Yueyao didn’t mind, she went to see the three children, ca back and had a late-night snack, didn’t enter the studio, and went to bed early.
Xiang Wei felt that sothing was off about Yueyao. After an argunt, logically, Yueyao would be in a bad mood, and the most probable thing she would do is copy scriptures in the study to calm down, but it seed that Yueyao wasn’t affected.
The next day, Yueyao got up early, but instead of practicing her routines, she took a long walk around the garden.
After breakfast, Xiang Wei asked, "Why didn’t you practice routines last night and this morning, what’s going on?"
Yueyao didn’t hide anything from Xiang Wei, touched her belly, and said, "It’s been a few days late this month, it’s probably because of that." Having had two pregnancies, she wasn’t a clueless girl. But without a confirmation, she couldn’t be 100% sure.
Xiang Wei imdiately understood: "I was wondering why you told Brother Shengsheng about the adoption issue yesterday, now I see."
Xiang Wei muttered that Yueyao getting pregnant at this pivotal mont was not good; if it turns out this pregnancy is another son, refusing the adoption might be even harder to avoid. Luckily, Yueyao knew to unite with her son to confront the Earl.
Yueyao was confused: "How co things turn sour in your mouth? What do you an by and my son confronting Heyue together? Is Heyue our enemy?"
Xiang Wei smiled and said, "Aren’t you going to tell the Earl yet?"
Yueyao felt a bit frustrated: "Who knows when this will end?" Even if she wanted to hide it, it would only be for a short ti. Soon, An Zhichen would find out.
Xiang Wei shook her head and said, "This child just ca at the wrong ti." It ca neither early nor late, and not choosing the right ti.
Yueyao frowned and said, "What are you talking about? This is fate, and a good thing when fate cos." She and An Zhichen had been hoping for this child for more than a year.
Xiang Wei smiled and said, "If you hide it from the Earl, he’ll definitely be upset with you when he finds out. By the way, you’re twenty-eight now, considered an older mother; you need to be more careful during this pregnancy."
Yueyao chided, "Stop talking nonsense, twenty-eight is not the age of an older mother." She felt she was still very young!
Xiang Wei agreed with this view: "You are indeed very young, nobody would deny that." Approaching thirty but looking not a bit old, no different from won in their twenties.
Yueyao smiled and said, "You’re also just making fun of ." As for Xiang Wei saying that An Zhichen would be upset with her later, Yueyao wasn’t worried at all. Not to ntion being pregnant, even in usual tis, An Zhichen wouldn’t scold her, at most he’d leave angrily like today.
Xiang Wei laughed and said, "You really do have the Earl wrapped around your finger."
Yueyao smiled and said nothing. In truth, Yueyao knew that An Zhichen didn’t want to adopt his son out, but due to the Old Grand Master’s favors, he couldn’t refuse too thoroughly. An Zhichen couldn’t be the villain, so she would.
When the Second Old Grand Master approached An Zhichen again about this issue, An Zhichen helplessly said, "Elder Uncle, give it a couple more days. Let consult with Zichang again. You know how stubborn Zichang is; it takes ti to convince her."
The An Family’s Second Old Grand Master was a big man who believed that n could decide this matter; why listen to Yueyao’s opinion? However, the Second Old Grand Master also knew An Zhichen valued Yueyao, and after thinking for a mont, said, "If you can’t convince him, let do it."
An Zhichen couldn’t refuse and agreed.
When Yueyao heard the Second Old Grand Master was coming, she knew what it was about. She said to Xiang Wei helplessly, "I knew he wouldn’t withstand it." It’s easy to pay back debt, but hard to repay favor; indeed, the Second Old Grand Master’s favor is difficult to return.
Since suspecting she was pregnant, Yueyao slowed down at everything she did, naturally walking slowly, making the Second Old Grand Master wait impatiently.
