Mingzhu didn’t find out about her son being engaged to Miss Peng until early May. Staring at Niu Yanghui, who told her the news, she said, "Are you joking with ?" There was a slight delay in the ssage Bai Yi sent, and it didn’t reach Mingzhu promptly. Now that Mingzhu knew, it was unfortunately too late to change anything, as the engagent between the two children was already set.

Niu Yanghui initially didn’t plan to tell Mingzhu, but after so thought, he realized there was no way to keep it a secret. If he didn’t tell Mingzhu now, she would find out in a few days, and by then, she would definitely bla even him. Niu Yanghui said helplessly, "Why would I joke about my son’s marriage?" He could sowhat guess why his father had done this; it was likely because sothing Yueyao did in Suzhou had gotten back to his father, who was worried about bad influences. Fearing that Kexin would follow suit, he hurried to settle Little Bun’s marriage.

Niu Yanghui had expected Mingzhu to be furious, but instead, he saw her sitting in a chair in a daze, not saying a word for a long ti.

Niu Yanghui was frightened by Mingzhu’s deanor and asked, "Mingzhu, Mingzhu..."

Mingzhu’s tears flowed down: "I’ve known Yueyao for over ten years; we’re closer than sisters. Now that your father has done such a thing, how can I face Yueyao?" With things already set, as the younger generation, they couldn’t even complain, let alone scold. Yet, Mingzhu was inwardly aggrieved.

Niu Yanghui quickly comforted her, "It wasn’t us who arranged this. Second Sister is a reasonable person; she won’t bla you."

The more Mingzhu thought about it, the sadder she beca. "That Wen abandoned Brother Feifei because of rumors, do you know how much it hurt her at the ti? Yueyao is such a strong person. No matter how tough or exhausting things got, she never complained. But because of this, she secretly cried many tis. Now, Father-in-law set Little Bun’s marriage behind our backs due to rumors. Isn’t this just stabbing Yueyao in the heart? I, I..." The more Mingzhu thought about it, the sadder she got, and her crying intensified.

Niu Yanghui had heard Mingzhu ntion this matter before. He was also helpless. It was wrong for his father to arrange Little Bun’s marriage behind their backs, but what’s done is done and can’t be changed: "Sigh, this wasn’t what we wanted."

Hearing these words, Mingzhu felt even worse: "Actually, Xiang Wei had ntioned just setting the marriage for the two children in Suzhou. But I was afraid of wronging Kexin, so I refused Xiang Wei’s suggestion at the ti. I just thought we could have a grand arrangent back in the Capital City. If I had known a change like this was coming, I would have listened to Xiang Wei. It’s all my fault, it’s all my fault! Yueyao must hate now."

Niu Yanghui was genuinely unaware of this: "If you feel bad, we can write a letter to Second Sister to apologize."

Mingzhu cried like a person made of tears: "What good is an apology? We stabbed a knife into Yueyao’s heart, and a light apology can’t possibly make Yueyao forgive ."

Niu Yanghui was convinced that this ti Mingzhu was pregnant with a girl; otherwise, why would she be so prone to crying? Mingzhu wasn’t usually the crying type.

After a long ti of comforting, Niu Yanghui finally managed to stop Mingzhu’s tears.

As Mingzhu wiped away her tears, she said, "Yueyao was always worried that she would implicate the children because of her, and back then, I said she was worrying unnecessarily. Who could have thought, who could have thought..."

Niu Yanghui ca up with a makeshift idea: "Ying Yao and Ying Yao and Kexin are about the sa age. You can write to Second Sister and let her choose between the two children." Niu Yanghui suggested this mainly to show their stance as a couple.

Mingzhu hesitated, "Will this work?"

Niu Yanghui quickly nodded, "Don’t you want Kexin as your daughter-in-law? If the oldest doesn’t work, there’s the second and third child. Even if implying that Yueyao can pick any of his sons surely wouldn’t leave her with any complaints. Actually, Niu Yanghui felt that even if they didn’t bring this up, Yueyao wouldn’t hold it against Mingzhu.

Mingzhu thought this was a good idea: "Alright, I’ll go write the letter now."

Niu Yanghui helped Mingzhu to the study and watched as she earnestly wrote the letter without interrupting her. In his opinion, there was a ten to one chance Yueyao wouldn’t agree. Niu Yanghui didn’t believe that Yueyao would disdain his two younger sons; rather, since Little Bun and Kexin’s marriage was opposed because of Yueyao’s tarnished reputation, Yueyao’s pride wouldn’t allow her to form an alliance under such circumstances. As for whether Yueyao would resent Mingzhu and whether there would be a rift between the two families, Niu Yanghui wasn’t entirely sure. In matters concerning children, it’s hard to judge. His earlier confident words were mainly ant to comfort Mingzhu.
