Yueyao sat quietly by the bedside, as if she couldn’t even sll the sweet fragrance perating the room.

Mingzhu looked anxiously at Xiang Wei and said, "She’s been scared silly."

Xiang Wei looked at Yueyao’s expression; it didn’t seem like she was scared silly, instead, it looked like she was thinking about sothing. Xiang Wei was used to Yueyao thinking from ti to ti: "Don’t call her yet, she should be thinking."

Mingzhu dared not speak again.

Yueyao was indeed thinking, pondering when in her past life the war started. After thinking for a long ti, Yueyao couldn’t rember the exact ti the war began. She only rembered that the war lasted nearly three years, until the year she died.

Yueyao calculated the ti and it seed that the timing of the war hadn’t changed much. But Yueyao thought about how she had told An Zhichen so many things, An Zhichen should have been prepared long ago, surely this ti the war wouldn’t last three years!

Yueyao snapped back to reality to see Mingzhu and Xiang Wei looking at her intently. Mingzhu said worriedly, "Yueyao, are you okay? Don’t worry, even though there’s a war in the Northwest, our cousin will definitely be fine."

Xiang Wei rolled her eyes; which eye saw that Yueyao was worried or scared? Xiang Wei also knew that now wasn’t the ti for squabbling with Mingzhu: "The Northwest is at war, we have to return to the Capital City." When the Northwest is at war, the families of the military leaders must stay in the Capital City; ostensibly for protection, but actually as hostages. This is an unwritten rule.

Yueyao was allowed to leave the Capital City because during peaceful tis, the restrictions were loosened a bit. After all, Yueyao used the excuse of visiting Mr. Yu Shan to travel to Jiangnan. Now that there’s a war in the Northwest, Yueyao certainly can’t stay in Jiangnan any longer.

Yueyao shook her head and said, "We can’t leave now, it’s already November, the weather is getting colder, we can handle traveling back to the Capital City, but a few children cannot." Traveling in such cold weather is not to be taken lightly concerning the children’s health.

Xiang Wei felt a bit worried.

Mingzhu supported Yueyao and, after thinking for a while, said to Xiang Wei’s concern: "Yueyao, write a morial to the emperor asking for forgiveness to the Empress. Besides, I will write a letter to my aunt, it should not be a big problem." Yueyao is only delaying her return to the Capital City by a few months, not refusing to return.

Xiang Wei, having heard Mingzhu’s words, didn’t say anything more. With the Empress Dowager’s face, there wouldn’t be a problem returning to the Capital City four or five months later.

When the Steward Lady ca over, Mingzhu got ready to go out and handle household matters.

Xiang Wei looked at Yueyao and said, "What should we do now?"

Yueyao smiled and said, "Write a morial to the emperor asking for forgiveness." With that, she entered the study, and even by the ti for dinner, Yueyao hadn’t co out.

Xiang Wei walked in and saw Yueyao painting. Xiang Wei suddenly felt like she was struck by lightning; her husband was on the battlefield, facing danger every mont, but Yueyao was so calm. Was it that she had too much confidence in An Zhichen, so she wasn’t worried, or did she not care about An Zhichen’s safety at all? Xiang Wei thought for a while but couldn’t figure out where Yueyao stood, because neither possibility made sense.

Xiang Wei took the brush from Yueyao’s hand, bringing Yueyao back to her senses. Yueyao glanced at the clock on the wall, realizing it was alti.

Xiang Wei tentatively asked, "Aren’t you worried about An Zhichen?" Since Brother Shengsheng and his brothers have already turned six, An Zhichen has been gone for nearly six years. In these six years, Xiang Wei never felt that Yueyao particularly missed An Zhichen.

Yueyao, a bit puzzled, retorted, "He’s my husband, the father of my children, he’s currently on the battlefield, how could I not be worried?"

Xiang Wei pointed at the painting on the easel beside her; that was bright evidence: "Since you’re worried, why are you still painting?"

Yueyao said helplessly, "Does painting have anything to do with being worried?"

If soone didn’t know Yueyao, they would surely think she was particularly heartless. But Xiang Wei knew Yueyao very well, so she was sure there was more to it.

Yueyao didn’t give Xiang Wei ti to think more and asked, "Has Niu Yanghui returned?"

Xiang Wei nodded and said, "He’s back, just returned. I think Niu Yanghui won’t have much leisure now." To the Imperial Court, war ant burning money. Wars require food, dicines, weapons, and all kinds of military supplies, none of which can be separated from money. Jiangnan is a land of fish and rice and is the primary place for levying grain. Previously, Jiangnan was also the first to contribute military relief funds, but now the wealthiest place is Haikou, with Jiangnan in second place, reducing much of the pressure.

Yueyao’s face stiffened: "With a war in the Northwest, the Coastal areas certainly won’t be peaceful. Those Japanese pirates will surely take advantage of the chaos."
