The room was filled with an enchanting fragrance, but Yueyao was staring blankly at the redwood screen with colorful carvings inside the room.

Sunlight stread through the window, casting a glow on the redwood screen, and the peony embroidered on the screen reflected dazzling light under the sun’s illumination.

Yueyao’s maid, Xiao Bing, was sowhat worried. Ever since returning from Ma’s Mansion, Miss had been silent, not speaking a word. The maid had been by Yueyao’s side all along, from eting Young Master Lian until now, nothing had happened, so why was Miss feeling so unwell?

Third Lady Zhang only returned to the courtyard after attending to Old Lady Zhang’s sleep, and upon returning to the mansion, she sought out Yueyao and asked: "Yueyao, what do you think of Young Master Lian?" Being praised by her brother-in-law, he surely wouldn’t be bad.

A trace of bitterness crossed Yueyao’s heart, but she replied calmly: "Mother, Young Master Lian is too handso, I am not a match for him."

Third Lady Zhang felt as if a stone had settled heavily in her heart. However, seeing her daughter’s deanor, she quickly comforted her: "Judging people solely on their looks, we wouldn’t think highly of such a person either." Third Lady Zhang was quite frustrated, her brother-in-law’s words might not be trustworthy.

Upon hearing this, Yueyao murmured softly: "Mother, let’s not bring up this matter again. Since Grandmother is unwell, we should stay ho to avoid Eldest Aunt’s sarcastic remarks and taunts towards you."

Third Lady Zhang felt intense resentnt upon hearing this: "If it weren’t for Eighth Lady Zhang, you wouldn’t be delayed until now. Now that we finally fancy soone good, Madam Zhang Yu repeats her old tricks, really thinking we are easy to bully." Twice being thwarted left Third Lady Zhang simring with anger.

Yueyao forced a smile: "Mother, Young Master Lian didn’t fancy Yu Lang."

Actually, after interacting with Tingzheng, Yueyao felt so regret because Tingzheng was different from the two people she considered before. Tingzheng felt steady and reliable, a man who could uphold a household. Moreover, his gaze towards her showed no dislike or disinterest, but he spoke to her with an ordinary expression. Only then did she confirm that the fourth young master of the Lian family was indeed a good man as Uncle had said. Unfortunately, just at this ti, Yu Lang appeared. She closely observed Young Master Lian’s expression towards Yu Lang, and to her delight, Young Master Lian treated Yu Lang like a stranger, unlike his attitude towards her, which was worlds apart. Just as she breathed a sigh of relief and felt a hint of joy, Yu Lang deliberately said so ambiguous words.

Yueyao still rembers the angry expression of Young Master Lian after hearing Yu Lang’s words; it was obvious that Young Master Lian believed what Yu Lang said.

Yueyao deeply regretted it in her heart; it was rare to et soone capable, responsible, and not looking down on her because of her average appearance, yet she missed the opportunity due to her own presumptuous cleverness. She finally realized what it ans to be too smart for one’s own good.

Third Lady Zhang was sowhat incredulous: "Young Master Lian didn’t fancy Yu Lang?" If he didn’t fancy Yu Lang, then why didn’t he consider her daughter? Sothing didn’t add up!

Yueyao dared not confess that it was her own fault for ruining everything. If her mother knew, wouldn’t she scold her to death: "Yes, he didn’t fancy Yu Lang." This incident showed that the fourth young master of the Lian family indeed didn’t place much importance on appearance, a person who could guard his own heart. Unfortunately, such a good choice was pushed away by herself.

Third Lady Zhang was full of questions: "You’re also tired, take a good rest. Mother will go handle so matters." Since it wasn’t Yu Lang’s fault, there was still room to turn this situation around.

Xiang Wei personally went to Ma’s Mansion.

Cai Yun brewed Da Hong Pao, which Xiang Wei liked the most, and after brewing, personally served it to Xiang Wei. Xiang Wei received it unfazed and drank.

Upon seeing Xiang Wei, Zhuang Ruolan already suspected that the marriage might not be possible. If it were possible, it would be Yueyao discussing it with her: "Did Tingzheng not fancy Miss Zhang?"

Xiang Wei drank half a cup of tea, put down the teacup, and stroked the celadon cup with her hand: "Madam also knows, Tingzheng listens to my family’s Miss the most. I won’t hide from Madam; when writing to Tingzheng about this matter, Tingzheng replied that this matter was to be decided by Miss, no need for a eting. But Miss believes that marriage is a lifeti matter, so she insisted on the two eting face to face. Not to ntion my family’s Miss, even I thought the eting was just a formality, and after eting, the marriage could be settled. After all, Young Master Tingzheng obeys my family’s Miss, and there were words previously said in the letter. But the result, there was still an unexpected turn."
