The scientist paused, turning around to look at Jin. "What do you an?"
"I an that my grandmother removed that gene from . Well, deactivated it at least since the data that made the gene is still in my body."
She squinted her eyes. "Explain."
Jin only said two words. "DNA Splicer."
"Ahh." She completely understood.
"But that shouldn’t matter. As you said, the data for that gene is still in your body, so all we have to do is recreate that. But that’s easier said than done."
"ssing with DNA is pretty tricky because of how fragile it can be," Jin replied
"Indeed. It’s funny because DNA is actually very strong and is hard to ss with, but once you know how to change or alter it in so way, you have to be very careful with it so you don’t destroy it as if you’re so type of radiation poison."
It was nice speaking to soone who was smart. Jin, while he was surrounded by smart people, they weren’t science smart like he was.
A large holographic screen appeared, showing Jin’s DNA.
"Hmmm, I can’t seem to find the DNA strands where your powers would be. Normally, it would be right here." She used her fingers to move the holographic helix around to see where the gene for his powers would be.
"Check the mtDNA in ." Jin was helping her because he was also curious about his powers. He studied himself to learn what they were, but it was a thought on the back of his mind, so he didn’t look too deeply into it.
"Right! Can’t believe I forgot about that." When she checked his mtDNA, all of the information was there.
n only carry the Gene for powers because they have both XX and XY chromosos, but since n are XY, the XX in their bodies are permanently dormant, waiting to be passed on to their daughters.
This ant that if soone wanted to find out if a man had powers, they would have to check the DNA in his body that ca from his mother’s side, not his father’s. The only reason to check the father’s side would be to learn if the child inherited powers from his side, more specifically, his mother, the child’s grandmother.
"It’s true. The gene that gives won powers is active inside you. In fact, if this data is correct, your body is trying to recreate the stolen DNA, but there is sothing stopping it."
’Sothing stopping it? I never knew I had powers until six months ago, so what’s stopping it? Could it be my mana? I did awaken my mana not too long after my mother and father died, so maybe that’s the case. Jess, do a body scan.’
[Got it. It could take a minute, though.]
’That’s fine.’
"To activate it again, hmmm, that will take so ti." The scientist thought of multiple ways to restore Jin’s powers to do more testing, but nothing she could co up with would work, or it would take too long.
Instead, she opted to continuously test his blood to get more data from him while simultaneously trying to activate his powers in that blood sample.
"You will be my favorite project yet."

"Madam President, they are on the line." The presiden’t assistant inford her, stepping to the side.
"Good work. Ahem, Queen Nindala, Pri Minister Molanda, I have good news."
"Madam President Zafina, were you able to get Jin Telegard into your custody? You only have 23 hours left, so this better be the good news." Molanda growled
"That is indeed the case, Pri Minister. Jin is currently in our custody, and we are arrangingfor him to be transported at this very mont." Zafina nodded
Nindala smiled. "Good. I’ll prepare a transport right away. We will arrive within the hour."
"That won’t be necessary. I still have 23 hours to turn him in; we’ll hand him over to you when there’s around 5 hours left on that clock."
The Pri Minister slamd her hands on a desk in a fit of rage. "You dare!"
"Madam President, I don’t understand. Why are you going to hold on to him when you can give him to us now?" The Queen asked
"Don’t take for a fool. Do you think I don’t know how valuable Jin Telegard is? I would be an incompetent leader if I didn’t try to research him with the little bit of ti that I have. Besides, you all have already submitted the clause to the U.N. that I have 72 hours to TURN him over to you. I’m not breaking that clause one bit."
Molanda was furious at Zafina for finding a workaround to the clause they submitted, but she couldn’t do anything about it.
’If they find out what makes Jin tick before we do, then they might be able to ss with him to prevent us from learning more about his body! Dammit!’
Nindala just nodded and accepted the fact that she couldn’t do anything. This didn’t an she would sit around and do nothing, though. Within that calm expression, her mind was calculating multiple plans, and she already had many things on her mind of what to do next.
"The five-hour mark!" Molanda shouted. "You have until that mark to hand him over to us, no later than that!"
"We’ll see." Zafina wasn’t scared by her threats since nothing would happen to her even if she handed Jin over to them at the one-minute mark. Hell, even if she had one second, she would still be in the clear.
"Don’t test out patience, Zafina!"
"And don’t test mine. I know you’re trying to bully into complying with your demands since Othrys isn’t as powerful as it used to be. But let remind you that that only applies to our won’s power, not our technology. We’re still more advanced than both of you, and if you wish to expierence that firsthand, then keep pushing my buttons."
Molanda growled, then hung up.
"I will be seeing you, Madam President." The Queen hung up as well.
"That went better than expected, Madam President."
"No, it didn’t. They’re going to start preparing for war now. But we don’t have to worry about that since we’re not breaking any rules. Just make sure that we are able to harvest as much data as we can from Jin before we trade him over to them. Also, make sure to sabotage their transports so we can snatch him back."
"Understood."
