Chapter 648 - Filled With Pride
While Prince Fritzen was shuddering in fright at what he would face, later on, there were others who were lost in their thoughts too but they varied from the ones that the Prince had.
Glennise Brodie had noticed the Prince was staring at that younger girl just a mont ago but unlike the ti when she had gotten mad at Aleena Kiron for displaying her interest in the Prince, she felt nothing of that sort right now.
She understood that this was curiosity that the Prince had for the girl who seed too intriguing.
Even she could not help but sneak a few peeks at Yvonne St. Claire who had appeared heroic in her eyes just earlier.
She spoke with such confidence that had captivated her.
Even Glennise had never spoken in such an outright and fearless manner to her father.
To see that her father had not displayed any signs of displeasure and even had interacted with that child had only made Yvonne look further like a being ant to be revered in her eyes.
The words that the King and that child spoke earlier had also left a mark on her mind.
Thus, she forgot about staring at the Prince as her gaze shifted to her father.
'Will I be able to stand up and speak out about my thoughts before him?' She wondered if he would be willing to listen to her opinions as he had said earlier.
Until now, it was her who was following everything that he had asked her to do without stating her thoughts and opinions about them.
However, she wondered if from now on, he would be willing to listen to what she had to say and even pay heed to it.
She also harbored hope in her heart that soday, her father would love her just as much as the other fathers did to their daughters.
From a young age, she had only seen him look at her with a disappointed expression on his face.
When she had questioned her mother with tears in her eyes when she was younger, her mother had revealed that it was because she was not born a boy.
However, her mother had apologized to her, stating that it was her fault for being unable to give birth to a son for her husband.
There was nothing that Glennise had done wrong and it all was her fault instead.
Explaining further that she need not worry about her father's words and live the way she wished to.
Even when her mother tried to assure her that she was fine just the way she was, she never could give up on this matter.
Children were sensitive to emotions and it always affected her to see her father behave in a cold manner to her when other fathers treated their daughters like a treasure.
The daughter of the St. Claire family too was adored and pampered by her father and she had seen that indulgence in the Earl's eyes today.
Therefore, after everything that had taken place today, she wondered if there ever would co a day when her father would look at her the sa way as well.
With such lancholic thoughts in her head, Glennise was completely distracted and did not even have the ti to look at the Prince who was seated at the sa table as her.
Similarly, Topher Tanner stared at his uncle, Marquess Sad, and at the child who sat with him.
He had heard everything and seen everything that had taken place today.
Therefore, there were nurous thoughts concealed in his mind as his eyes fell on the child with curiosity but it only lasted for a second.
There was still ti for him to get so answers which he was sure to receive.
'Even if she can stay tight-lipped… I have a weak link that I can exploit.' He smirked while glancing at his Uncle who at that very mont, felt a shiver running down his spine.
Prince Fritzen was troubled by the thoughts of his Uncle and Topher was making plans on how to extract information from his Uncle.
Glennise's mind was filled with questions about her future relationship with her father while the other girl at that table, Princess Felicia was staring in a certain direction.
Princess Felicia's eyes were overflowing with appreciation for this younger girl whom she had t for the first ti.
She was still too young to understand this feeling but soday she would realize that at this very mont, her chest was filled with pride for the other girl.
Earlier when the other nobles were speaking of her in a derisive manner, Princess Felicia had felt anger and indignation erupting within her.
However, when she heard her father and the rest speaking in her favor, she nodded to display her acceptance of those words.
It was as though this was sothing common for her and she wasn't even surprised to hear about Yvonne's brilliance that the other n had proclaid before the audience.
'I always knew that she was capable.' Princess exclaid but froze in the next second.
This statent that her mind had just co up with had stunned her.
She knew almost nothing about the girl yet she was so confident about her abilities.
'Maybe because I thought she would be my playmate in the past?' She tried to co up with an explanation for what she had just thought.
No matter what she ca up with, it did not change the fact that she was happy to see that the other girl was being praised.
These were the thoughts of the children at this table which varied from those of the adults.
Queen Zena glared at her husband for what had taken place just earlier and was also peeved that the lunch she had organized had gone cold due to the lengthy conversation that had taken up everyone's attention.
As much as she was surprised with what that little girl had accomplished, she was still annoyed that her husband had used this mont to make the big revelation.
It had disrupted the lunch which she had worked hard to put together.
'My work was work too…' She sulked with her lips pursed.
She did not deny that the daughter of the St. Claire family had done a good job but she was saddened by the fact that her husband of all people had caused this ss today.
As his Queen, she knew that her husband wished to see the advancent of won in their Kingdom.
While she thought that it was troubleso, she never truly was against him as it was her duty as his Queen to support him.
However, she was now angry that he had disregarded what she had worked hard for.
On the other hand, contrary to the sulking Queen, Duchess Beatrice Tanner was ecstatic to hear what the King and the other n had revealed today.
Yvonne already was a special existence to her and now this revelation had only elevated her status in her heart.
Duchess Brodie, anwhile, was focusing on her daughter who appeared to be dazed as she was lost in her thoughts.
Every other noble present here had different thoughts in their minds.
So were accepting of the King's words and his ideals while others were still adamant in sticking to their forr ways.
They knew that sooner or later there would be a division among them.
Now all that was left was for them to decide which side they stood on.
Whether they were with the King, willing to accept his progressive thoughts and ideals?
Or stay fixed in their forr ways as that was what had been followed for ages since days of old?
Yvonne, the catalyst for today's thoughtful environnt, was busy finishing off the dessert that had been offered to her by her back-stabbing tutor, Marquess Sad.
She neither cared for nor was she worried about what would take place.
'At most, they will look for but I can ask Papa to help avoid them for now.' She shrugged as she decided to use her father as a shield.
However, what she did not know was that while her father, Earl St. Claire, could reject most invitations, there were still a few which he would not be able to decline no matter how much he wished to.
Thus the lunch with the Royal family ca to an end with a plethora of thoughts running through everyone's minds.
