Chapter 474 - I Will Try My Best
From the mont Jax had heard that the little girl wished for him to beco her Butler, he was stupefied.
'Is she in her right mind?' He wondered while staring at her as she remained still in her father's arms.
The won in this world only had maids as their attendants.
Though there was no law against having a butler as their attendant, most preferred to have servants of the sa gender as them.
However, the girl that he had t a few days ago did not seem to adhere to these common practices that were followed in their kingdom.
He had seen how she was proficient in riding that scary-looking horse.
She had also fought him and as much as he was embarrassed, he had to admit that she defeated him fair and square.
Not to ntion that unlike what her brothers wished to do, she did not send him to the law authorities who might toss him into prison without a second thought.
She had offered him a job and even promised to take care of him and not mistreat him as his Big Boss.
At that ti, Jax had thought that she was rely teasing him and she had no intention of keeping her promises.
Nonetheless, he was still curious about what she truly ant by those words.
Therefore, once she had left with her brothers, he covered the bloodied ground with sand and left that place.
He needed ti to think about the choice she had given to him.
For months, he had been wandering from place to place, never staying in one town for too long in fear of being apprehended for what he was doing.
He knew that he was wrong but this was the only way he could make money and survive for a short while before he could move to the next town.
However, either fortunately or unfortunately, that day he had t her.
She looked adorable but the snarky comnts she made him grit his teeth in fury.
Yet when she saw her brothers, she beca the pretty flower she appeared on the outside.
Again, in the next mont, she was fighting against him and even beat him.
After that humiliating defeat, he was given a choice, an opportunity to change his life.
Only a fool would give up on this chance so he had made up his mind on that very day about what he would do next.
But she had asked him to et her on the third day so he finished preparations and had co over on their appointed date.
According to what he had thought, she would give him a nial job but he was fine with it as long as he did not have to spend his days wandering alone in the wilderness.
There was also sothing that he wished to see with his own eyes, sothing that had urged him to go and find her.
What he had been most curious about was the family that she had defended in such sternness and without hesitation when he had mocked her elder brother.
Her words at that ti had left a lasting mark on him.
Now that he was looking at the n and won along with the boys who were surrounding her, he understood why she had behaved that way.
'A family that cares for each other.' He thought and realized that this was sothing he had never experienced before.
Once he had found what he had co to see, the answer in his heart was clear.
"I accept." He declared his response to her offer amidst the many voices who were trying to dissuade her from doing so.
Yvonne and the rest turned in his direction and saw his slightly reddened eyes which reflected firm determination in them.
"If Big Boss wants to be her Butler then I will try my best to do so." He announced which made the others' eyes narrow dangerously.
Here they were trying to get rid of him but this boy was declaring that he would do his best to serve the little girl?
How could Rutherford accept that?
Sadly, before he could even say his piece, his beloved daughter had sothing to say.
"Papa, do you not trust ?" Yvonne's childish and aggrieved voice echoed in the Earl's ear, making him widen his eyes as panic flashed across them.
Lowering his head to look at the child in his arms, his eyes t the sight of her pouting face and her teary eyes.
A doting father like him never wished to see his daughter in tears and right now, he was befuddled on how to coax her.
"You have the fief to look after and Big Brother has to leave soon to attend his classes at the Academy." Her soft voice was heard as she looked at him with pitiful eyes.
What the little girl had said was the truth as both the n in her family were too busy with their own work and had already done a lot to help her with her endeavors until now.
"I will need soone to help with my work and I thought that Jax might be useful." She explained why she had asked him to co to the Valente estate after letting him free the other day.
In fact, Yvonne did wish to make use of Jax's sly mind and ticulous ways for CLOVER's advantages but the thought of him being her Butler was sothing she had co up with after taking a look at his pretty face.
However, she would never accept that she had changed her plans due to this developnt as that would be embarrassing no matter how she thought about it.
Therefore, she stuck to this story as parts of it were still true.
"He can help like how Butler Limo helps Papa." She added when she noticed his silence.
Rutherford had understood that his child needed soone to help her run errands and complete tasks that she could not do due to both her young age and her gender which might cause a problem.
However, when he saw how his little girl was gawking at this new boy's face, he felt irritated and did not want her to get any closer to him.
"You can use Butler Limo if you want to." He proposed because that was a much better solution in his opinion.
Howard nodded along as that old man was trustworthy and surely better than Jax whom they had t for the second ti today.
The little girl narrowed her eyes and there was staunch rejection in her eyes at the suggestion her father had given out.
"Butler Limo is loyal to Papa!" She reminded him of sothing which he was already well aware of.
'His loyalty lies with you and not .' She knew that this was a pro for her father but a con for her.
She wanted soone who was loyal to her and only her.
If she were to take the assistance of her father's butler, there was a high chance that he would report everything back to him.
'That might not be an issue now but who's to say what the future holds?' She shook her head, unwilling to accept his suggestion.
Thinking of sothing, she turned around and glanced at the boy who was standing a few feet away from her.
"Will you be loyal to and only ?" She interrogated in a stern tone which was unlike her age.
However, Jax had already seen her behaving in this manner when they first t which did not surprise him in the least bit.
"I… Do not know…" He muttered in hesitation, causing those around him to glare once again.
The boys were furious as their sister was giving him such a golden chance and he was being half-hearted about it.
Contrary to how they were feeling, Yvonne chuckled with a nod in acceptance of his words.
'No one will pledge loyalty to another so easily.' She knew of this truth and would have been wary of him if he had agreed right away.
She had not done him any great favors to expect him to pledge his life and loyalty to her.
Therefore, she had questioned him under the pretense of figuring out what he had in mind for coming here.
Thankfully, he had passed her first test by not giving her an empty promise of being loyal to her.
Grandpa Valente had been observing everything from the sidelines and had grasped what she had tried to pull just now.
"Did she inherit your cunning mind?" He whispered to the person standing next to him.
Viscount Marcus Valente coughed in surprise and a hint of embarrassnt when his father both praised and jabbed him with his words at the sa ti.
Among Old man Valente's children, if Raylene was an innocent lamb who trusted people easily and was pure-hearted, then her elder brother was the opposite.
He was a shrewd and cunning wolf and was black-hearted which was known only to a few people.
From a young age, Marcus had shown great signs of knowing how to manipulate people into doing what he wanted them to do and even was a master of getting his way at every turn.
Even Hannah would fall for his tricks every ti he sulked a little and made a pitiful face.
Only Raylene was the one who had never fallen for his tricks as he could never play them on her.
Right now, the little girl's attempt of getting her way through her soft words and aggrieved face had been seen through by the Valente n.
'She most certainly inherited that from .' Marcus agreed but would never say it out loud lest his sister finds fault with him.
