209: Chapter 209: The Old Clan Leader’s Illness 2
Suddenly transitioning from a place bathed in light to one shrouded in darkness, it took a mont for my eyes to adjust.
However, it seed that the Beastn had no such concerns, as they were able to see just fine even in the dark.
I stood still, allowing my eyes to slowly adapt to the surrounding environnt.
The entryway on this side was quite spacious, at least spacious enough for the Beastn to stand tall.
This cave entrance was not where the Piercing Stone Beastn resided.
Moving forward along the passageway, Su Tang could faintly see a circular hole in the ground, emanating a soft, warm light.
Upon closer inspection, it was indeed a hole.
A torch was planted on the cliff wall below the cave entrance, hence the source of the light.
Yan Li, who was familiar with the way, grabbed a vine and slid down directly into the circular pit.
He stood at the bottom, waving them down.
Yan Li also slid down the vine with ease.
After scrutinizing it, Su Tang realized that the vine they used to make their carrying baskets was tied to a protrusion on the cliff wall.
He marveled once again at the intelligence of the Piercing Stone Tribe’s Beastn!
When it was Yadang’s turn, he followed suit and slid down the vine.
After reaching the bottom, he exclaid, “Wow, Su Tang, you have to co down and see this!”
Intrigued, Su Tang raised an eyebrow and prepared to grab the vine.
Before she could act, she felt a tightness around her waist.
In the mont she turned her head to look at Gaiyin, a sense of weightlessness washed over her.
She was already standing at the bottom of the pit, safe and sound!
Her heart fluttered in excitent.
Ah, this feeling was simply too good!
It was as if she was on a drop tower ride!
However, her attention quickly shifted to the sight before her.
Similar to the cave above, a row of small caves rested against the mountain body.
The caves here were much more orderly than those above, each of similar size with a torch planted in between for illumination.
In front of each cave entrance, there was a large stone jar.
Without Yan Li having to explain, Su Tang understood that these jars were for storing water.
“Huh?
Where are your tribespeople?” Su Tang looked around, curious.
It was dark inside the small caves and too unclear to see, but the outside was eerily quiet and empty.
No Beastn were in sight.
Yan Li chuckled bitterly and explained, “Due to the lack of food, everyone is resting in their caves to conserve strength; most are simply too weak from hunger.”
Su Tang nodded thoughtfully.
“Which cave is the Elder in?
Take
to see him!”
Following Yan Li, they ca to a small cave entrance.
Yan Li took the lead, stepping inside.
With a weary voice, he called out, “Uncle Huang Yuan, Aunt Hua Mu, I co to see you.”
“Cough, cough… Ah, it’s Yan Li.
Why are you here again?
Where’s your brother?
Did he sneak off to find food again?
Call him back quickly, don’t let him go!
Cough…cough…” Huang Yuan’s voice reverberated in between bouts of coughing.
Another raspy voice wafted over, “Enough, enough.
Don’t speak for now.
Drink so water.”
Huang Yuan turned his head away and shook it, “No need.
I’m not thirsty.
Ahua, if you are hungry, drink so water.
After the Beastn above leave, we’ll go hunting!
We won’t let you go hungry anymore!”
Hua Mu glanced at Huang Yuan’s parched cracked lips, blood staining the creases.
Her eyes flashed with emotion.
She held up a hollow stone in her hand and asked Yan Li, “Little stone, would you like so water?”
