Annie Anne held Charlotte Thompson’s hand, already crying uncontrollably.
"No, it’s not your fault, you didn’t do anything wrong."
Annie Anne’s palm was gripping extrely tightly, her fingertips had already pressed deeply into Charlotte Thompson’s hand, but Charlotte didn’t attempt to break free.
"It’s all my fault... It’s all my fault..."
"Annie."
Charlotte looked at Annie Anne with a heartache, but at this point, she found herself unable to say a word.
In the end, she could only turn her head to glance at Justin Battleson beside her, who just responded with a silent gaze.
The hospital corridor was extrely cold, the sll of disinfectant perating, only Annie Anne’s sobbing could be heard softly.
After an indeterminate amount of ti, the ergency room light finally went out.
Annie Anne staggered and stood up from the chair, eagerly approaching the doctor who walked out.
"Doctor, how’s his condition!" Annie Anne, even emotionally agitated, reached out to grab the doctor’s arm, and Charlotte Thompson quickly stopped her action.
"Who here is a relative of the patient?" The doctor wore a mask, making it unclear what his facial expression was.
"I am." Annie Anne replied without hesitation.
"The patient has extensive burns on the body and a gunshot wound to the chest, although he is now out of imdiate danger, the situation is still not optimistic."
This statent from the doctor did not provide any relief to Annie Anne’s mood.
"Now the patient is in a comatose state, and might even remain this way indefinitely."
"So... What does that an?" Annie Anne’s teeth quivered.
"It ans... the patient is very likely to beco a vegetative state."
The doctor sighed and then took off his mask, "To survive such severe injuries is already a blessing, but during the surgery, the patient kept calling a na... it sounded like Annie... who could it be related to you?"
However, the doctor’s words seed to be the last straw that broke the cal’s back, causing Annie Anne’s tears to stream out again.
She stepped back a few steps, and if it hadn’t been for Charlotte Thompson’s support, she would have collapsed to the ground.
"Annie..."
Annie Anne murmured in pain, her lips pulling into a faint smile, "Why... why am I worth you like this now..."
After coming out of the operating room, Oliver Hudson was sent to the intensive care unit.
Charlotte Thompson took the opportunity to ask the doctor about Oliver Hudson’s specific condition.
"So, King Samuel still has a chance to wake up?"
Charlotte looked at Justin Battleson in front of her, her expression sowhat complex.
"The doctor did say there’s a chance of waking up." Justin Battleson’s brow was tightly knitted, watching his friend beco like this, Justin Battleson did not feel any better.
"Let’s not tell Annie about this for now; if the little one knew, she would definitely be heartbroken."
"Yes, I had the sa thought, no one expected things to develop to this extent." Charlotte sighed.
Seeing this, Justin Battleson brought her into his embrace.
The terror Charlotte Thompson experienced during the kidnapping surged up in retrospect, leading her to wrap her arms around Justin Battleson’s waist.
Neither spoke, instead choosing to embrace each other tightly.
