Charlotte silently cursed in her heart. Just as she felt she was about to face a storm, Jas’s voice suddenly sounded outside the door.
Like a savior, it brought Charlotte a sense of relief.
"Big brother, Charlotte just fell asleep, so let’s not disturb her."
The sound of the door handle turning also stopped at this mont; it was clear Henry had halted his actions.
"Really?"
"Yes, I just asked Aunt Wang to bring Charlotte a glass of milk. She looked very tired today, so let’s not bother her."
Perhaps considering Charlotte inside the room, Jas’s voice was very soft, but upon hearing his words, Charlotte’s eyes slightly moved.
When did Aunt Wang bring her milk?
As Charlotte was pondering, Henry and Jas’s footsteps gradually faded, allowing her tense body to relax.
At this ti, feeling the grip around her loosen, Charlotte imdiately snapped back to reality and, without hesitation, pushed Justin away.
Seeming to resent Justin’s earlier actions, Charlotte even kicked him, causing Justin, who hadn’t steadied himself, to fall straight off the bed with a muffled sound.
Justin had never experienced such treatnt before; he couldn’t help but take a deep breath. When he looked up, Charlotte had already turned her head away, showing a clear unwillingness to engage.
"Charlotte."
Justin stood up.
The fringe on his forehead, with his lowered head, obscured half of his eyes. It seed that only before Charlotte would the sharp and exposed Justin reveal such a soft side.
He softly murmured, letting his words resonate in the quiet room.
"I’m sorry, I just went to the hotel to find you. I didn’t expect sothing like this to happen."
As he said this, Justin’s face beca sowhat grim.
He hadn’t expected that one day he would also fall into soone else’s trap.
Perhaps it was also due to being overly concerned about Charlotte, that Justin was constantly speculating who the man Riley referred to, who was always with Charlotte, was, thus lowering his guard and allowing others to seize the opportunity.
"Then why did you contact Riley and et with her?"
Charlotte slightly raised her face, her brows furrowed without any relaxation, clearly unsatisfied with Justin’s explanation.
"She was the one who contacted ." Justin exhaled, and told Charlotte in detail about Riley calling him earlier.
"I’ve been calling you, but you didn’t answer, so I had to imdiately..."
Before Justin could finish his words, Charlotte interrupted, returning to the question both had overlooked earlier.
"When did you call ?"
Justin didn’t respond, but his expression already revealed the confusion within him at this mont.
Seeing this, Charlotte grabbed her phone tossed aside, checked her call log, and found no calls from Justin.
However, Justin’s phone showed a different story.
This bizarre scenario left Charlotte silently staring at her phone.
Then her screen lit up, displaying an incoming call from Justin.
Her sowhat astonished gaze turned to Justin, and the exchange of looks yielded only the bewildernt in each other’s eyes.
