"So, what do you want to call you?"
Leon Battleson seed to ignore Charlotte Thompson’s coldness and distance, speaking to himself.
Facing Leon, Charlotte appeared indifferent: "Mr. Battleson, if there’s nothing else, I need to leave first."
Seeing this, Leon imdiately reached out to stop Charlotte, his face still smiling, but his words were no longer teasing like before.
"I just want to ask if you’ve contacted my brother? I have so business matters to discuss with him. I couldn’t reach him earlier. Since I bumped into you, can you do this favor?"
Leon looked at Charlotte expectantly.
While speaking, he slightly bent his waist, using this posture to draw closer to Charlotte.
Seeing Charlotte’s lack of reaction, he quickly raised his hand: "Just help contact Justin Battleson. Once the call is through, I’ll disappear from your sight imdiately, how about it?"
Looking at Leon’s sincere smile, Charlotte didn’t refuse and took out her phone to call Justin Battleson.
The dial tone echoed in Charlotte’s ears, and as she imagined Justin might be busy and couldn’t hear, a click sounded, and the call was connected.
But the voice on the other side wasn’t Justin Battleson; it was heavy breathing.
Then, a woman’s lazy voice erged.
"It’s a call..."
But the woman’s words seed to be swallowed by so ambiguous sounds the next second.
Instantly, Charlotte’s face turned unsightly. She glanced at the contact on her phone, confirming it was indeed Justin Battleson.
Moreover, this number was Justin’s private line, known by very few people.
Then, so jarring noises ca through the earpiece, sounding like sothing being forcibly smashed.
The call disconnected abruptly, leaving no sound behind.
Charlotte felt a subtle pain in her ear, still holding her phone up, but the indescribable sounds she had heard fought their way into her mind.
"Charlotte?"
Annie Anne, standing beside Charlotte, hadn’t heard the sounds over the phone but noticed Charlotte’s sudden change in expression, a bad on rising in her heart.
"What happened? Didn’t the call go through?"
Leon looked at Charlotte with a probing expression, but at this mont, she couldn’t hear any sound and turned to run out of the cake shop.
"Charlotte!"
Charlotte’s sudden action startled Annie.
She initially wanted to follow Charlotte, but as she lifted her foot, Annie turned to glance at Leon beside her.
"What did you do?" Annie asked without knowing why.
Leon innocently tilted his head: "I don’t think I said anything."
Clenching her palms tightly at her sides, Annie looked at Leon, hesitating to speak.
Leon seed to see what Annie was thinking and leaned leisurely against the corridor wall, smiling at her.
"Don’t worry, you’ve delayed Charlotte for , and I’ll fulfill my promise to you."
