Valerie’s POV

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

I knew that Mike was a selfish jerk, but I hadn’t expected him to be so selfish.

Don’t think I couldn’t tell that he just wanted to maintain his image as a powerful alpha.

And that is what made his action even more detestable. How could he ask all those won to live the lives of insignificant ants for the rest of their lives?

"That’s not what I ant, Val. Don’t take my words out of context."

Hearing him call that nickna almost made want to vomit.

Not even the tingling and want pooling between my thighs due to his close proximity could take the rage I was feeling inside.

However, I have learned to keep my emotions in check over the years. So, I didn’t let him see my anger.

"Do you even have any idea what you are asking to do?" I asked again hoping that he was just saying it offhandedly and wasn’t serious.

"Of course I know. I can’t have the warriors and most of the people who work for our company that provides for the pack so dissatisfied. So, you have to tell those won to just go back to the way they were before." He actually dared to say it. And he said it so clearly that there was no mistake at all.

"Hahahaaa...." I laughed out loud.

In the library where we are supposed to observe tranquility, I couldn’t help but laugh out of anger.

"Mike ooh Mike, what a great alpha you are." I said in a sarcastic tone that wasn’t even veiled.

Mike’s face turned so dark you could squeeze tar out of it.

"I am not joking, Valerie." He said in a deep voice and even added alpha coercion.

If it wasn’t for whatever Lizzie did to that made immune to alpha coercion, I would probably be on my knees just like everyone else in the library with my head lowered in submission.

"Let make it clear to you then, Alpha. I am not going to take back anything I said before. Those won were living good and dignified lives in their packs yet the mont they stepped into the Night claw pack, they were reduced to invisible beings who don’t even deserve to do what they love anymore. Do you think that the n in this pack are all that a catch? So of the n you praise as warriors aren’t even as good as those won. So of the ones you exalt as company executives can’t even do business better than those won. In fact, if those won were given a chance, the Night claw pack would be far ahead. But you People, for so unknown reason seem to have the urge to trample on others. It is as if trampling on those you consider weak makes you feel invincible. What kind of skull is that? If those n complaining have the ability, let them reject those won as their mates and send them back to their packs. There is no need to imprison them here when they can’t even give them a happy life." I was so angry that I ranted for so long I forgot what I said in the beginning.

However, I wasn’t going to let a selfish person like Mike ruin the lives of those won who had already taken a step into healing and collecting themselves again.

"You cannot say it like that. Can’t they just stick to what they were doing before and let this rest?" Mike asked weakly. Even he knew he was wrong from his tone. But I wasn’t gonna go easy on him.

"Go back to the way they were? And what way is that? Reducing themselves so much that they beco invisible just because their mates want to shine brighter? If a man needs to dim their wife’s light to feel better, and shine brighter, then they should probably give the title of a man to the wife. How ridiculous. I don’t want to talk about this anymore. You can leave now, Mike." I couldn’t take it anymore and gave Mike the matching order.

I couldn’t care less whether he is alpha or not. I would not entertain such casual cruelty.

"Valerie, you don’t have to...." Mike began to speak but I wasn’t interested in listening anymore. So, I took so headphones I always carry in my bag and put them on. Completely covering my ears.

I wasn’t going to keep listening to his nonsense.

Seeing my stance, Mike threw his hands up and left in a huff. However, this didn’t even make flinch.

After years of endurance and hardship. What is a little anger from a mate I wanted nothing to do with?

If he has the guts, he can reject as his mate. Anyway, I know that it’s bound to happen sooner or later.

Just as I gathered my mind to continue with my work, Janice walked into the library and made a beeline for my table.

I wondered what trouble she had brought so quickly after Mike left.

"Luna, Lady Bernice is asking for you." She inford proudly as if she had accomplished sothing.

Without even thinking, I could tell that she had gone to tattle to the forr Luna.

I could see the smugness on her face as she looked at feigning submission.

After that day in the hospital, she had stayed quiet and kept a low-profile, but now it seems she didn’t want to miss a chance to put in my place.

So, when I had a conflict with Mike, she had run to the forr Luna to tell on .

But if she thought that would make afraid, then she was wrong. I don’t care for the Luna title, so why would I care how Lady Bernice treated ?

Even though losing her favor wouldn’t be good, but I will not back down just because of that.

I got up and headed towards the forr Luna’s sleeping chambers.
