Valerie’s POV

I sat in the pack library with my laptop in front of and so books about managent piled on the side.

I have been coming to the pack for a few days now because I found that changing the environnt instead of working in my room all day long helped accomplish more.

But I don’t want anyone to find out what I am doing, so, I cover my actions by perusing managent books to make everyone think that I was trying to learn how to manage the pack as the Luna.

Of course, I didn’t care one bit about the pack, but for so reason, so pack mbers have been too enthusiastic about and kept coming to ask questions.

Thank God for the teaching Karl had done for even though it was done with ulterior motives, it was now coming in handy.

I would give solutions to small problems and that has increased my popularity without even trying.

Like the won in the pack. Those who are not warriors feel inferior, especially since others mock them for being a burden to the pack.

When one woman ca to a week ago while I was walking around the compound to stretch my legs, I had thought that she was going to throw insults at like a few had already done.

Telling that I wasn’t qualified to be Luna and I should vacate that position for Innocent.

Of course, I never react to such provocation. I have grown up with insults and beatings and they don’t scare anymore.

But that day, I was surprised when the woman stood in front of timidly and called Luna.

I could tell that she was trembling from fear and I wondered whether I had done sothing to make her so scared.

But I knew that feeling all too well. When I was demoted to a slave in the pack at the age of ten, I had lived in fear everyday until my wolf appeared when I was thirteen.

So, I didn’t want the poor woman to suffer.

"You don’t have to be so afraid. I will not do anything to hurt you. Just speak your mind. If I can help, I definitely will."

Since she had called Luna, she was probably in trouble and needed my help as the Luna of the pack. She wasn’t there to mock .

"I...I...I want to ask Luna if you can provide work for us. Even if it is cleaning or doing other chores. Sothing that can help us earn so inco. Other won who are warriors mock us and call us a burden to the pack. So of our mates mistreat us too because they say we bring nothing to the table." By this ti, tears were already streaming down the woman’s eyes.

I could feel strings tagging at my heart when I heard what she said. This was humiliating soone so much that they feel worthless.

If I didn’t have Lizzie, I probably would have fallen in the sa path from how many tis I was called worthless by pack mbers.

I didn’t expect that there were others without the title of a slave going through the sa.

This pack is really rotten to the core.

I lifted my eyes and saw more than ten won huddled together a short distance away and watching like prey watching a predator.

I took a deep breath and waved them over.

"Co over here, all of you."

I saw them flinch, then walk over more timidly than the first woman.

"Luna." They all bowed and greeted in unison.

I looked at the way they were behaving and knew that their hearts were fragile.

"No need to be so formal. What Luna. Just call Valerie. Let’s find a place to sit and talk." I don’t even like that Luna title. I was helping them because they are pitiful and not out of responsibility for my duty.

We walked to the playground built for children and sat on the benches around it.

"Can you now tell in detail what is going on?" I asked casually because I didn’t want them to feel overwheld.

"Valerie." One of the younger won started.

Wow! She adapted quickly. I liked her already.

"Most of us married won ca from other packs and were brought over by our mates. Unfortunately, it has beco a challenge to be accepted by the rest of the pack. They treat us as outsiders even after so won have given birth to more than one pup. We are ostracised and our mates just care about keeping the peace, so they don’t defend us. Those who defend us are treated like outcasts making life difficult for all of us. We want to do sothing to show that we are contributing to the pack too. What can we do?"

I knew that the pack had problems, but I didn’t think that it was this serious. If all the won who co to the pack are treated like this, aren’t the people here worried that mates would start refusing to follow their other half back to the pack?

Also, these won co from different packs, what if they report back and all those packs unite to besiege the Night claw pack? Don’t these people have brains?

"Do the rest of you have the sa problem?" I turned around, observing everyone there and they all nodded.

"It’s not just the few of us. A lot of the female mates who co from outside the pack face the sa problem. Unless their mate has a very high status, they all face the sa problem as us. However, they don’t think you can help, so they didn’t co." Another lady said straightforwardly, causing the others to look at cautiously.

"Well, first of all, you should stop seeing yourselves as victims. Remove that victim ntality and think of how you lived in your own packs. Well, unless you lived as a slave like . If not, I want you to rember who you were before you joined your mate here. To change how you are treated in the pack, you have to change how you treat yourself."

These won had their self-esteem completely crashed and if I wanted to make a change, we have to rebuild that first.
