Corvus chuckled softly to himself at the twisted and irritated expression on the other leaders face. He was practically turning red, whether out of rage or embarrassnt. In all honest he wasn't sure which option would be funnier.
Once he was done with his teasing, he paid no mind to the crimson leader and instead closed his eyes and took a long, deep breath. He sucked in the air, letting it fill his lungs, before letting it all out with a contented smile.
When he opened his eyes, he couldn't help but notice the strange looks all of the other guests were giving him, leaders and companions alike. Even Woe beside him gave him an odd glance.
The only exceptions were Astra, who didn't care, and one of the leaders sat on the far end of the table. His companions were giving the strange look, sa as the others, but this man was not.
Judging from his appearance, he was Asian. Chinese, If Corvus had to guess. He was also the only leader who was a visible heteromorph. While so had odd hair or strange coloured eyes at most, the Chinese man had antlers sprouting from his forehead.
They looked as if they were made of wood, and sprouted like thick twigs that ca to flat ends rather than the pointed ends you'd see in many antlered species.
Golden scales were dotted around the edges of his face, while the eyes he was narrowing curiously at Corvus had slitted pupils and golden irises. He had been around Olette in his human form, as well as other draconic individuals, enough to recognise the signs.
Corvus didn't get the feeling of a true dragon from him, not like Protheus or the naless black dragon. But there was a hint of sothing emanating from the Chinese man.
Like he was part dragon, a very small part, and the evolution simply awakened it. Perhaps Protheus had gotten freaky with so ancient won and this guy was his a thousand tis great grandson.
Feeling Corvus' gaze on him, the Chinese man took a deep breath himself and sighed in the bliss, before nodding softly to Corvus. He returned the nod, although he wasn't quite sure of the aning behind it all, nor did he understand the others staring like he had grown a tail all of a sudden.
In fact the tail would probably provoke less of a strange reaction.
Of course, Corvus had no way of knowing that all the others felt completely choked by the air in the eting room. It was filled not just with heavy mana, but was a cocktail of different gases.
While it still had oxygen for humans to breathe, it also had a few that - while not toxic in any way - were deeply uncomfortable. It was like they were breathing in the mouth of an active volcano, full of sulphur and brimstone.
Yet while they were suffering with every breath, here this man was breathing it in like it was fresh spring air. If it wasn't for his younger companion also looking uncomfortable with the air, they would have thought this group wasn't human at all.
However, it very quickly beca clear that humanity on any level was not a requirent to enter this eting.
The door behind Corvus opened, and three more individuals entered without a shred of humanity between them. A pale snake, with glowing red eyes and a rattling plates of bone armour, slithered in first.
Corvus pulled his group to the side, as to not block their entrance, but also to allow him to put himself between the new entrants and Woe. As amazing as his brother's power was, it didn't do much to these beasts. They still had the powerful bodies forged by natural selection, they were deadly predators well before the mystical evolution.
The pale serpent slithered passed them without so much as a glance in their direction, and it was followed by a towering Lion-centaur hybrid. It had the lower body of a Lion, one the size of an Arican truck, and where the head should be was yet another body.
Strangely enough, the second body was still that of a lion. A humanoid one, with arms instead of front legs and which held itself high over its bestial body. As it padded past Corvus, it brushed its glorious, silky mane from its face with its clawed hand and let out a low, rumbling growl as it glared at him.
The final mber was actually one who seed human at first glance. If you t them in a dark alleyway, you'd be relieved, until it was far too late to escape. A pale woman in an elegant, black and red gothic dress glided across the floor, the hem of the dress brushing against the stone as she did so. Instead of footsteps, there was only soft clicking like that of high heels as she glided so elegantly. Except there was far too much clicking for just two feet.
Her hands were clasped in front of her body, her fingers extending into black talons. A soft smile graced her pillowy lips, yet there were hints of lines that extended much longer than where her lips ended. Small folds that stretched up her cheeks and beside her eyes, hinting at the true size of her mouth.
Speaking of her eyes, she had a pair of large beady black eyes like Onyxes, each easily larger than a man's fist, and which were surrounded by smaller black eyes for a total of eight.
The three beasts casually approached the table, without a care in the world and with absolute confidence in their power, however when they reached the table they split apart and each found their own individual seat.
Well, the strange woman was the only one who could sit in a chair. The Lion simply laid his lower body on the floor and was still taller than the table, while the serpent coiled itself around a throne.
"All of our guests have arrived, ti for everyone to sit." One of the multiple Kobold butlers declared. However, soon another voice filled the room.
"You can't be serious?! Why are these... things here! I ca for a eting of n, of leaders! Why would I waste my ti talking with so... beast."
One of the n, who spoke with a thick french accent, stood from his chair in a rage, pointing an accusatory finger towards the Lion-centaur who sat nearby to him. It was the sa one who had turned red with rage over Corvus' innocent little joke.
The Kobold glared at the man, clenching its fist in a rage. It wanted with everything in its being to smack so respect into this worthless being, but instead it clenched its fists tighter and remained professional.
"You will be seated now. These are also guests. Leaders, the sa as you. They have earned the-"
"Sa as ? THE SA AS ?!" The french n's shrill voice cut off the Kobold who was starting to tremble with his professionally held anger.
"I am not the sa as so dirty, stupid beast! What sensible conversation could I possibly have with this thing!"
The Lion let out a low grumbling growl as the french man once more jabbed its finger in his direction, yet it didn't seem to dissuade the arguntative idiot who was deep in his own rage. His shrill voice continued to blare out countless insults and argunts, all while everyone else watched on in annoyance or boredom.
Corvus was uncaring of the idiot, and instead turned to Astra and offered her his hand, like he was asking her to dance.
"Shall we join them at the table, My Queen."
"Most certainly, My Lord. But wherever will you sit when I am on my throne?"
They laughed softly between each other as Astra gently rested her hand in Corvus', as he led her over to the table and with Woe awkwardly following behind. As they did so, Corvus leaned into Astra and whispered softly.
"Wanna bet on who lays him out first? I say the Lion bites off his finger. I an just look at it, so juicy. Like a sausage just waving in his face. How could he resist?"
"Haha, You're on." Her laughter was like music to his ears, he could never get enough of it. "I say it will be the staff. They have to make sure to establish control. He just made himself the perfect example."
Corvus led Astra to the table, letting her sit on the throne that was seemingly intended for him. He kissed her hand softly, making her let out another musical laugh. They were in their own little world, uncaring of the strange looks they were getting or the hysterical french man screaming his head off.
Letting go of her hand, Corvus strolled over to the Lion and gestured to the throne that he was unable to sit in.
"Do you mind? It seems mine has already been taken, you know how won can be."
The Lion's eyes shot towards him, anger clear within them. Yet it's expression softened ever so slightly once it realised what was going on. It glanced towards Astra then back at Corvus, before letting out a soft huff of amusent.
It waved its hand, gesturing for him to take it.
"Thank you kindly, I appreciate it. You know... I bet you've never had french food, have you? He's practically offering you a bite of that hand for his rudeness."
The Lion glanced at him again, narrowing its eyes for a few seconds before relaxing into a smirk and let out a rumbling growl that sounded almost like a chuckle. Corvus nodded his head, lifted the throne easily and carried back over to Astra before sitting next to her.
"That's cheating you know." She said with a slight smirk
"Hmm, That sounds like loser talk to ."
She laughed again and shook her head, settling into the throne. Woe stood behind Corvus' newly acquired throne, trying his best to blend in with everything that was going on, while Corvus himself leaned against Astra and intertwined his fingers with hers.
