Jas Chesterton couldn’t argue with Iris Crawford’s temperant, she was tougher than a man, when would she ever lower her head?
Weighing between life and death, Jas reluctantly said, "Okay, I’ll take you guys to my place, but don’t ss around. I live alone, so if you drink too much and puke, there’s no one to clean up for you two!"
Seraphina Colbert shook the milk carton beside her, "I’m drinking milk!"
Iris wanted to speak, but her head felt heavy. When she opened her mouth, her brain felt stuffed with cotton, and her once active thoughts beca sluggish. So she stood up to clear her mind, but the action was too quick, causing her to fall.
"Hey!" Jas quickly caught her, still holding a broom in his other hand, "Take her to my car, I’ll lock up after I finish sweeping."
"..." Seraphina thought, how are you so skilled at this, after all, are you the hostess or is she?
Seeing Iris so drunk, she didn’t say much and took Iris from Jas, along with his car keys.
She glanced at the license plate and froze.
Her hands trembled as she supported Iris.
After a while, she suddenly smiled, then opened the rear car door, and put Iris in. Ten minutes later, after thoroughly cleaning the lobby, Jas finally took a breath, locked up, and ca to the car.
Iris was already lying on Seraphina’s lap, nuzzling and mumbling, "A girl’s lap is more comfortable..."
Jas had just comnted how Iris was quieter when drunk, then she said sothing shocking, "In my next life, I want to be a jerk, sleep with all the pretty won around , it would be... it would be aweso..."
"..." Jas started the car, thinking that Iris’s temperant could only be handled by Lachlan Wyatt, no ordinary man could match her!
Unfortunately, Lachlan chose not to want Iris.
It’s fine, if he doesn’t want her, others will! There’s plenty who do!
Playing a strategic ga, he headed back ho with Iris, and when he reached his place, Jas took Iris out and noticed Seraphina deftly at his doorstep, fiddling for a bit before the door opened.
Jas stood dumbfounded holding Iris, "How did you know the house password?"
Seraphina pointed at his license plate and said, "Didn’t you already write it on the license plate?"
"..." Jas felt sothing was off, but this answer was so spot on that he decided not to think about it. He carried Iris upstairs, laid her on the bed, and took a photo.
Who would he send it to? Of course, to Lachlan Wyatt!
[Chestnut] Lachlan, guess who this is?
The photo clearly showed Iris, red-cheeked and passed out on Jas’s bed, with her long eyelashes resting and her face flush like a peach.
[Chestnut] Hehehehehe
[Peach] ???
[HS] ???
[Sarah] What’s going on? What’s going on?
[Pierce] Guard against the day, guard against the night, hard to guard against the family traitor?
[Peach] Jas, I’ll kill you! You can’t share the grievance of taking my wife! Birdie is mine; only I can collect her corpse!
[Chestnut] Get lost, you perverted woman doctor! It’s safer for her to stay with than be picked up by you!
[Sarah] Wow, I thought Birdie would be with Lachlan, not Jas?
[Chestnut] ...No, you’ve misunderstood.
[Pierce] Heh, this woman really leaves affection everywhere, huh.
[HS] Patrick Pierce, you’re very sour.
[Pierce] I’m not sour, the one who isn’t talking is the most sour.
Who’s not talking?
None other than Lachlan Wyatt, staring at the phone screen with knitted brows.
He looked at the chat log, only now realizing Iris wasn’t ho again. When did she sneak out?
Last ti, she deliberately made noise for him to hear when going to see Jordan Jacobs in the middle of the night. This ti, trying to sneak out, he didn’t even notice!
Even though they were just a few rooms apart!
Was Jas’s bed really that comfortable for her to sleep so soundly?
This woman! How dare she sleep peacefully in another man’s bed?
Lachlan ground his teeth, sat up in bed, and called Jas.
"How co she’s at your place?"
"She was out playing with friends." Jas answered quickly, "But don’t co over; tonight Birdie’s staying here."
"She’s staying there." Lachlan’s smile turned cold, "If you dare touch her, Jas, you’d better be ready to die."
Jas’s gaze deepened, "Why hurt her if you care about her?"
"That’s none of your business." Lachlan’s tone was straightforward and harsh, "What I do with my belongings is not your concern."
"Birdie would get hurt." Jas said word by word, "If she ever really leaves you, Lachlan, you wouldn’t have anywhere to cry!"
Being loved by Iris Crawford was such a fortunate thing; she was the kind to face all dangers without hesitation, her love was scorching and sincere, willing to give everything for soone else’s sake.
"You’re too ungrateful."
Jas took a deep breath, "I’ll bring Birdie to the office tomorrow, oh, and I’ll tell you sothing."
Lachlan raised an eyebrow, obviously not caring for what Jas said, as he was used to having control over everything, including Iris, who also couldn’t escape his grasp, "Go ahead."
"J has returned ho."
Jas lowered his voice, "Intel from the dark web, you should be prepared."
"Okay."
Lachlan originally intended to pick up Iris, but upon hearing this, he changed his mind.
Better to leave Iris at Jas’s place, maybe... it might even save so trouble.
The next morning, Iris woke up and saw Seraphina beside her, instinctively leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. when Seraphina woke, her face turned red. She covered her face and rolled far on the bed, saying to Iris, "You, you, you, you!"
Iris chuckled, "Morning."
As if yesterday’s emotional outburst didn’t exist, with the sun back up, she was once again the tenacious Iris Crawford, indomitable like a cockroach.
As Seraphina got up, she said to Iris, "Are you leaving?"
"Yeah, I need to go to work." Iris felt like a jerk, waking up from another woman’s bed only to leave, "You can stay at Jas’s, I’ll co to keep you company after work."
Seraphina instinctively asked, "We’ve only t twice, aren’t you afraid I could be bad?"
Iris stared into Seraphina’s eyes before suddenly grinning, "You’re smart, I like dealing with smart people."
Seraphina didn’t speak; after a while, she whispered, "Thank you."
Iris was stunned.
"Why say thank you?"
Seraphina’s eyes carried so emotion Iris couldn’t understand; she pulled out a smile, "We’re both trapped in our situations, Iris, we’re kindred spirits."
Iris didn’t understand what Seraphina ant by that, then she heard sounds from downstairs.
When Jas ca out of the bedroom, he found the door surrounded by people, intimidating like being encircled by a mobster gang.
Oh my! Lachlan didn’t call people for revenge, did he?!
He frantically knocked on Iris’s door, shouting as he entered, "Iris, did your enemies co for you?"
Both Iris and Seraphina hurried out in their pajamas, and upon seeing the people outside, Seraphina’s face turned, "Wait! They’re here for !"
Iris Crawford and Jas Chesterton exchanged a surprised look, noticing Seraphina Colbert gritting her teeth as she stepped forward to open Jas’s door, instantly letting in a crowd that filled the hall with the force of a storm.
Iris realized that these people were the sa tall, muscular bodyguards from the bar the other day with Seraphina. They were nearly two ters tall, exceptionally muscular, well-trained, and clearly not ordinary people; there was even a murderous air about them.
This...this group seed to an business, unlike regular bodyguards.
Jas and Iris huddled in the corner.
Iris: "...Can we handle so many people?"
Jas: "If you can’t, do you think I can?"
Iris: "...Should we run?"
Jas: "Call the police, have them save us!"
The ntion of the police imdiately drew all eyes to Jas and Iris. Iris, ever the opportunist, quickly plastered a smile on her face and said, "Gentlen, please go easy on us..."
The encirclent tightened, and as Iris and Jas clung to each other, Jas said, "Amitabha, Iris, I have one last wish before I die. I want to find my sister who was sold by traffickers ten years ago. Rember to continue looking for her for . I’ll cover for you first!"
No sooner had he said those words than Seraphina called out loudly from outside, "Don’t touch them!"
The black-clad bodyguards halted their actions.
Seraphina, with reddened eyes, yelled towards the outside, "Jude Hawthorne! Get your people away from my friends!"
Jude Hawthorne?
Iris looked through the door and saw a large vehicle parked outside, a George Patton, the sa model as Lachlan Wyatt’s.
Next, she saw a man leap down from the tank-like vehicle. He was tall and lean, wearing a white tank top, his skin bronze, his muscles hard and fierce, his face marked by sharp features.
Unfortunately, beneath the furrowed brows, his eyes were filled with insidiousness and malice.
He looked rugged and wild, like a leading lion of the savannah, and as he strode in, a phrase flashed unbidden in Iris’s mind.
"A great general holds no fear, and a thousand horses flee the white robe."
"A thousand horses flee the white robe."
When he finally stood before Seraphina, he spoke, "Did you spend the night here yesterday?"
Seraphina, feeling the pressure, replied, "They are my friends!"
Jude made a slight gesture, and the people surrounding Iris and Jas finally dispersed. But his expression didn’t relax a bit. He looked at the woman in front of him, pointed at Jas, and said, "And him?"
"Also my friend!"
Seraphina shielded Jas, her gaze fixed on the USB-shaped necklace around his neck for a long ti before looking away. She took a deep breath and said, "I slept with her yesterday."
Jude smiled like a venomous snake, "You better not let catch you with another man, Seraphina. Don’t try to challenge ."
"Don’t harm my friends!" Seraphina reached over and grabbed Iris’s hand, "She’s not soone you can ss with either!"
ss with?
Was there anyone in this world Jude Hawthorne couldn’t ss with?
Jude sneered, "Get over here, don’t make say it a second ti!"
Iris was dumbfounded. Did Seraphina have sothing on Jude? This man looked so sinister. Why did Seraphina still have to go?
So Iris said directly in front of Jude, "Don’t go, Seraphina, co to !"
With that, she pulled Seraphina behind her and looked up at Jude, "What do you want with her?"
It was the first ti Jude had heard a woman dare to talk to him that way in all his years.
"Hand Seraphina over to , and I might leave enough of you for identification." Jude’s eyes narrowed, and the bodyguards behind him stood ready.
Faced with all this, Iris didn’t flinch, firmly protecting Seraphina behind her. No way she was handing Seraphina over to this no-good man!
Seeing this, Jude laughed, "Looks like you’ve found a friend willing to die for you, Seraphina. Does she even know who you are?"
Standing behind Iris, Seraphina looked at her pale, slender neck and murmured, "Iris..."
Before she could finish, a voice ca from the doorway, "Why so many people? It’s busier than a feast at the village gate."
Iris’s face changed.
A man squeezed through the door, and among the black-clad crowd, he clicked his tongue, and with a casual shove, he cleared the path by pushing aside those blocking his way, sending the black-clad n staggering.
"Get the hell out of the way, you’re an eyesore!"
"..." Jude watched the man who ca in. He was dressed in a suit, supposed to be all proper and dignified, but he carried a dangerous aura, a mix of righteousness and wickedness. The expensive badge on his chest glead as Lachlan Wyatt looked past Jude towards Iris not far away, "Jas, why are there suddenly so many people at your house? Iris, did you get into trouble again?"
Jas pointed at Jude, "Look...look at him!"
"Oh." Lachlan nodded to Jude, "Get out, don’t make call your guardians!"
...Guardians?
Jude laughed fiercely, "Long ti no see, Young Master Wyatt."
Lachlan said, "Long ti no see. I’m here to take soone. Watch your own woman!"
Then Lachlan turned to Iris, "Look at you! Bringing a woman ho! Getting into trouble with soone you shouldn’t! Lucky I got wind of it. Seraphina, stay away from Iris from now on, don’t make trouble for !"
Iris was unyielding, baring her teeth, "Why can’t I? Why are you being harsh on her? You can’t be harsh on her!"
...Arguing with him over a woman?
"Do you know who he is?"
Lachlan pointed at Jude with his chin, "A prince in the gang, Martin Hawthorne’s brother, Jude Hawthorne."
No wonder Lachlan said he’d call guardians.
Jude and Jude.
"If a man does not think of himself, he will be destroyed by heaven and earth."
The two brothers, quite interesting, one protects, the other destroys.
Hearing Lachlan say this, Seraphina’s face dimd slightly, seemingly discouraged by his words. Indeed, she shouldn’t have co out with Iris so casually; otherwise, Iris and Jas wouldn’t have gotten into such trouble early in the morning.
She was simply a troublemaker...
Iris couldn’t bear seeing Seraphina look like that, stepping forward to grab Lachlan by the collar, "Take back what you said! Seraphina, don’t listen to him, feel free to co to later!"
Jude was stunned. How dared this woman do that? Even Lachlan had to show so respect, and this woman went straight for the collar?
Lachlan seized Iris’s slender wrist, forcibly dragging her away, "I haven’t even settled the account of you sleeping with Jas, and you’re already thinking of protecting other won?"
Jude wanted to laugh, "So that’s how it is. Then we’ll each take our own, Young Master Wyatt. I’ll learn from you next ti." After all, Lachlan was a man even his useless elder brother praised.
Watching Jude’s people escort Seraphina away, her departing figure made even Iris feel humiliated. So she glared and shouted at the backs of Jude’s large group, "Aren’t you a man! Treating a woman like this! Damn it, just try and let et you next ti!"
"..." Who else but the fearless Iris would dare to speak tough words against Jude?
Jas hadn’t turned back yet, and Seraphina and the group of black-clad n had already left his house, moving with machine-like efficiency, strictly trained, leaving no loose ends, and the hall was emptied.
Iris felt a little dazed, collapsing onto the sofa, "What kind of person is Seraphina?"
"A nobody." Lachlan lowered his eyes, "Just a wild girl, don’t mix with her."
Iris felt a sharp pain in her chest, "You’re even controlling who I make friends with?"
"She’s not in the sa league as you." Lachlan carried an air of superiority, "You’re a young lady from a wealthy family; she’s a little gangster from the street. How can you be the sa? Enough, tidy up and get to work. You won’t see Seraphina again in this lifeti."
Jude wouldn’t let her out again.
