Lachlan Wyatt and Iris Crawford had been in the hospital for almost a month. They got injured around the sa ti, so their stitches were removed at similar tis. When Lachlan’s hand stitches were removed, Iris’s chest had also healed well. During this ti, Iris asked Number Nine to take another X-ray of her chest, which almost drove Lachlan to hang himself.
When the two walked out of the hospital, friends from their firm were helping carry various daily essentials behind them. Noelle Rivers and Gia, wearing masks, also ca to help, but Hannah Lennox was left at the back.
She had sharp eyes and recognized the disfigured Gia. This woman used to be Vera’s arch-rival. To bring Gia to ruin, Vera sought the help of Jonas Kingsley for advice and strategy. Now Vera had disappeared, but Gia seed to live more freely and unrestrained.
Having left the entertainnt circle that broke her apart, now her soul began to nd its fractures.
Hannah pretended not to recognize Gia, watching her get closer, stepped forward a few steps, and started to make small talk, "Hey, you look a bit familiar to ."
Iris heard the commotion and instinctively looked back, realizing it was Hannah and Gia whispering to each other. Peach leaned over to her ear and said, "Why don’t you go say hi to Gia?"
"No need."
Iris smiled, "Gia knows what’s right and wrong. I believe a woman who’s been through such ups and downs won’t miss such tricks. Besides, even if she can’t see through it, Gia is innocent. Why should we pass our stereotypes of Hannah onto others?"
Peach was surprised, Iris was so rational and objective.
But Gia’s response was predictable. She pulled her mask slightly below her eyes and said, "I don’t really know you."
Hannah continued greeting Gia, "Are you also good friends with my brother and sister-in-law? Nice to et you, my na is Hannah Lennox."
"Hello, I’m Gia."
Gia didn’t hide her na, "I’ve known your brother and sister-in-law for quite a while, but it’s the first ti I’ve seen you. Where were you before?"
Hannah was cornered by Gia’s question. She couldn’t say she... was previously busy fighting life and death with her brother and sister-in-law.
She used to be Jonas Kingsley’s person.
Gia’s counter-question made Hannah realize Gia was not soone to be ssed with, so she casually gave herself an out, saying, "I was... abroad. I’m so envious of how close you are with my sister-in-law. I’ve been living with her for almost a month, but she seems to still have so grievances against ..."
"Then you should reflect on your own issues."
Wearing a mask, Gia’s words were not at all vague, directly hitting the nail on the head, "Your sister-in-law is a fair person. She wouldn’t have issues with soone for no reason. She hasn’t said anything bad about you to either. If soone like her doesn’t like you, maybe think about what you might have done to bother her."
Walking ahead, Peach widened her eyes.
Wow, Gia spoke up for Iris so handsoly!
Iris, ahead, curled her lips into a joyful expression that even made Lachlan find it amusing, "Look at you, all smug."
"Oh, there’s nothing I can do, my personality is just magnetic."
Iris casually ran a hand through her hair, her smile looking particularly beautiful, "Being liked by people, what can I do?"
"It would be a sha if you weren’t a man."
"No."
Iris stopped and waved her index finger in front of Lachlan’s face, "There’s nothing regrettable about being a woman. Or rather, I’m proud to be a woman. ’It would be a sha if you weren’t a man’ – what kind of talk is that? I’m proud to be liked by my fellow won, I deserve it!"
Iris’s deanor made Lachlan’s eyes light up, and then he laughed at himself.
Right, he almost forgot, she is Iris Crawford.
As for Hannah at the back, Gia’s questioning left her speechless, only able to say with grievance, "Alright, then I’ll reflect on my own issues and hope to gain my sister-in-law’s approval."
"You don’t have to live for others’ approval."
Gia tugged Hannah’s bag, patted her shoulder, and said, "If you truly understand, you’ll know there’s nothing frightening about being disliked by Iris. You should live for yourself."
For yourself...
Hannah clenched her fingers, recalling Jonas Kingsley’s command.
And at that mont, watching Iris’s carefree silhouette ahead, she was... shaken.
