753: Chapter 753: Just Need One Room 753: Chapter 753: Just Need One Room Su Hui and Zhuo Hang nearly jumped in surprise, quickly turning around to see a kind-looking old man.

His presence was friendly, but the silent ergence behind them was truly unnerving.

A gust of wind chilled them to the bone, stiffening their bodies.

Sothing about this seemingly harmless old man was far from ordinary.

Regaining her composure, Su Hui politely greeted, “Hello, sir.

Our car broke down so we had to stop by the roadside.

We have nowhere else to go and happened to co here.

I suppose you accept visitors from outside?”

The old man shook his head, “No worries, we’re very hospitable here.”

“That’s a relief!” Su Hui and Zhuo Hang pretended to be overjoyed, but they kept their guards up against the old man.

The old man, cordial and affectionate, added: “Stay here tonight.

It’s a wedding celebration in our town.

You’re both welco to join.” Then he walked past Su Hui and Zhuo Hang.

They exchanged glances before following the old man, curious about his intentions.

Soon, led by the old man, Su Hui and Zhuo Hang arrived at a lively gathering.

Many people were dancing and frolicking around a bonfire while others cheered the bride and groom.

Su Hui furrowed her brows, the atmosphere was actually warm and festive, far removed from gloom and horror.

At that mont, several won approached, affectionately took Su Hui’s hand, and invited her to join their dancing around the bonfire.

Zhuo Hang did not join in the dance, instead, he stood by vigilantly, his focus on ensuring Su Hui’s safety.

However, under pressure from the crowd, he was finally forced to join in, dancing along with a sense of awkwardness.

As Su Hui, Zhuo Hang, and the locals danced hand in hand, the atmosphere seed more convivial.

There was nothing amiss, plus everyone they touched felt warm.

The bonfire gathering ca to a gratifying end, with everyone appearing reluctant to part.

Su Hui and Zhuo Hang accompanied the old man ho.

The old man brought them into his house and offered, “I have a large room that can accommodate two…but if you need…”

Su Hui quickly replied: “Sir, could you give us separate rooms?”

The old man first looked startled, then appeared to understand, as though apologizing for assuming their relationship.

But Zhuo Hang retorted, “Sorry, sir, we will take one room.”

“Huh?” Taken aback, the old man looked from Zhuo Hang to Su Hui, as if he would ask: “Who should I listen to?”

Su Hui wanted to insist but halted when Zhuo Hang gave her a certain look.

Understanding his intention, she pretended to be embarrassed and also agreed for one room.

The old man opened the door to their room—it was spacious and featured a large bed.

“Have a good rest tonight.” The old man left them to their privacy.

Once the old man left, Zhuo Hang hastily shut the door, leaving Su Hui feeling sowhat uneasy.

She wasn’t sure she could confront Zhuo Hang if it ca to that.

“It seems we’ll be watching out for one another tonight.” It dawned on Su Hui that this was Zhuo Hang’s intention all along.

She walked around the room, examining the vintage furniture, its age characterized by visible wear and tear.

At this ti, Zhuo Hang began dialing their companions’ numbers.

To his surprise, soone picked up—it was Liu Hui’s voice: “Hello hello, Zhuo Hang, can you hear ?

Where are you guys?”

Zhuo Hang replied, “Su Hui and I are in an ancient town, what about you?”

“Yan Bing and I aren’t sure, we just kept running on the highway, then suddenly found ourselves in a woodland.” Liu Hui’s words gave Zhuo Hang a jolt before the signal got seriously disrupted and he could no longer hear anything.

Su Hui frowned, and comnted, “It seems like we’re not the only ones in a dicey situation.

The others also t with trouble.”

“Don’t worry, whatever the trouble is, I have the ability to handle it.

After living this long, I’ve seen it all.” Zhuo Hang started limbering up, confident in his immortal prowess.

Su Hui paused to think, then suggested, “How about we pretend to be asleep and observe any actions from the townsfolk.”

“Good idea, then we…” Zhuo Hang’s words trailed off, embarrassed.

Agitated, Su Hui retorted, “Can’t you quit thinking about the wrong things?

I’ll sleep on the inside, you on the outside.

If anything happens, you deal with it.

After all, you cannot die, can you?”

“Okay, alright!” Zhuo Hang said, secretly looking forward to it.

He watched Su Hui climb onto the bed and lie down.

For so reason, a surge of tenderness filled him—he wanted to protect this woman.

Obviously, the goal was to smoke the enemy out, so they couldn’t actually go to sleep.

Although Zhuo Hang lay on the bed, his eyes remained wide open, ever vigilant of potential attack.

He covertly glanced at Su Hui, noticing she too hadn’t closed her eyes.

Her hands were intertwined, thumbs twirling, deep in contemplation, perhaps daydreaming.

The room fell silent, and the atmosphere beca awkward.

They waited for a long while, but nothing happened.

They waited until the early hours of the morning, by which ti Zhuo Hang struggled to keep his eyes open.

Glancing over, he saw Su Hui had fallen asleep, leaving him speechless—essentially, he was being left to keep the night-watch.

“Unbelievable, this is so harsh.” Zhuo Hang sighed, fighting to stay awake.

As ti ticked by without incident, Zhuo Hang began to question his paranoia; but what was up with this ancient town?

There were no records of it, and it didn’t explain the nurous disappearances.

He was certain sothing would happen tonight, possibly when his guard was down.

But seeing Su Hui sleeping peacefully, he suddenly understood why she wanted to sleep on the inside—it felt incredibly safe.
