75: Chapter 75: Going to Find the Teacher 75: Chapter 75: Going to Find the Teacher Thank heavens, after several days of inquiring around, Gu Fan finally found out where the history teacher, Teacher Liu, lived.

He prepared the map, loaded his backpack, invited Lu Yi and Jie, and together they went to pay Teacher Liu a visit.

Teacher Liu was surprised at the beginning, as it was rare for students to look for him, especially during winter vacation, hence he was filled with confusion.

Gu Fan cut to the chase, explaining why they had co and showed the map to Teacher Liu, asking for his help to decipher what was written on this foreign script map.

Teacher Liu was even more taken aback and couldn’t help asking, “How did you guys get this kind of map, and why are you so interested in foreign culture?”

“Ah…” Gu Fan hesitated, regretting his oversight.

He hadn’t prepared an answer to such a question.

Should he expose all the hidden details about the map to Teacher Liu?

Teacher Liu looked at Gu Fan with a puzzled expression, as if trying to make out so mischief.

Feeling guilty, Gu Fan quickly thought of a fib: “Well, the old house where my family lives used to house six families.

Over ti, they all moved out, and we don’t know which family left this map behind.

My great-grandfather always preserved it.

I found it a few days ago while sorting through so things.

After doing so research, I found out it was written in a foreign script.

I also discovered that there’s supposed to be a hidden treasure in the Great Night Country.

I thought, maybe it’s a treasure map.”

“It might indeed be a treasure map,” Teacher Liu’s statent made Gu Fan, Lu Yi, and Jie’s eyes widen in astonishnt.

Teacher Liu continued, “There are many legends about the foreign lands.

After the fall of the Great Night Country, many people have searched for treasures at the ruins, most left empty-handed.

However, so discovered valuable items.

This map might be one of them.” After saying that, Teacher Liu squinted at Gu Fan and added, “Did soone genuinely leave this at your ho?”

Gu Fan imdiately nodded, “When my grandfather was young, one of the families always boasted that this map could make a person wealthy, which lead to my grandfather preserving it.

However, my father never believed it, so he put the map in a corner.

I accidentally discovered the map hidden for many years when I took your course on foreign history.

So, I thought of giving it a shot.”

Teacher Liu shook his head, “Your luck isn’t that good.

I know a lot about foreign history and culture, but I know very little about foreign script.

Many of the characters on this map, I haven’t seen at all.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Fan’s face conveyed his disappointnt, seeming to lose hope in the treasure hunt.

But Teacher Liu chuckled and said, “However, I do know a few experts who specialize in studying foreign cultures.

They are national-level experts.

They might be able to translate the foreign script on the map and might even find sothing valuable, maybe even a cultural treasure.”

“I was thinking the sa, this map is of no use to at ho, especially since my dad doesn’t believe in it.

I’ll give it to the experts to see, it can also be considered as my contribution to the cultural sector.” Although Gu Fan said this, he thought to himself: “Whether it’s of value or not, I want to solve all the mysteries, I want to find my classmates.”

Then, Teacher Liu asked, “If you are so willing, can you leave this map with ?

I’ll pass it on to the experts.”

“Alright, no problem.” Gu Fan had no choice but to rely on the experts, as they couldn’t understand the content on the map.

Gu Fan preserved a photocopy for ergency use.

After leaving Teacher Liu’s ho, Jie got a call.

It was his brother, Hai, inviting the brothers to play basketball together.

Jie was thrilled as it had been a long ti since he last played basketball with Hai.

Thinking that a ga with just two people would be dull, he invited Gu Fan and Lu Yi to join them.

Normally, Gu Fan and Lu Yi heard a lot from Jie about how accomplished his brother was, having served in the military and embodying true masculinity.

Hence, they were eager to et Jie’s brother.

Upon reaching the basketball court, they instantly spotted a tall, imposing figure wearing a vest and playing basketball, even in the cold winter.

He was dribbling and charging forward with an intensity too daunting for anyone to block.

“My God, his muscles are so well-defined.” Lu Yi stood dumbstruck, as Hai’s muscles seed as solid as steel.

Together with his strong will, he could intimidate anyone.

Jie walked up and greeted him, “Bro, you ca a bit too early, didn’t you?”

“I’m on vacation and have nothing else to do, so I ca early to see if my skills are still sharp,” Hai responded, then looked at Gu Fan and Lu Yi, laughing as he asked, “Are these your classmates?”

Jie quickly nodded, “Yes, these are my good friends from college.” Then Jie served as an interdiary to quickly familiarize Hai, Gu Fan, and Lu Yi with each other.

Hai expressed his gratitude to Gu Fan and Lu Yi for always taking care of Jie, promising to treat them to a drink later on.

Gu Fan and Lu Yi were extrely thrilled, never expecting Hai not only to be brave and strong but also very generous.

They thought Jie was fortunate to have a brother like Hai.

As a big brother himself, Gu Fan felt that he should learn from Hai to beco a capable big brother who can make his younger sister proud.

Soon after, Hai called over two people whom he had just t while playing basketball.

The six people split into two teams and started a ga.

The plan was half court, with the first team to score five points winning.

Then the teams would be reshuffled for another round.

Gu Fan and Lu Yi both considered themselves good at basketball, but they were completely outclassed by Hai.

His speed, strength, and even skills were far superior, and basically, whichever team Hai was on was sure to win.

“Incredible, we can’t beat him…” Gu Fan attempted to block Hai, but he was completely dominated in terms of physique.

Hai broke past him quickly, leaving Gu Fan no choice but to watch as Hai made his shot.

Later, Hai called over three more basketball players.

Even though they didn’t know each other, they all had a passion for the sport and enjoyed playing together.

Organized and led by Hai, it evolved into a competition between three teams of nine people.

The rule remained the sa – whichever team scored five points first won.

The winning team would stay on court while the losing team would leave and be replaced by another team.

However, even with this different play style, the team with Hai remained undefeated, rarely failing or stepping off the court.

At this point, Gu Fan realized how incredibly strong Hai was in terms of power, speed, explosiveness, and technique.

Even his stamina was astounding; he played for so long, winning seven gas before showing any signs of fatigue.

His team finally lost the eighth ga to rest mainly due to his teammates’ inability to keep up.

Maybe it feels good to overwhelmingly dominate a weaker opponent, but when you encounter a formidable adversary, one who is so skilled that they inspire you to strive and challenge them, it’s this kind of foe that truly motivates you.

That’s how Gu Fan felt now.

Facing Hai as the opponent didn’t discourage him at all even after being beaten brutally; instead, it filled him with fighting spirit.

He yearned to beco as strong as Hai.

Even though he kept failing in his attempts to challenge Hai, Gu Fan didn’t lose heart.

Again and again, he battled, lost, and returned to the fray, although he saw no hope of ever closing up the gap in their skills.

“Amazing!

You play so well.” Gu Fan sincerely admired Hai and even gave him a thumbs up.

Hai returned a complint in kind, “You’re also not bad.”

After the sports session, Hai kept his promise and treated everyone to drinks.

As they relaxed and chatted, especially when Hai shared his experiences in the military, discussing so military-related matters and describing so simple missions, everyone listened intently.

They drank and chatted until very late, more and more getting along with each other and really enjoyed the company.

It felt as though they regretted not having t earlier.

Finally, it was ti to leave, and everyone agreed to play again another ti.

Both Gu Fan and Lu Yi felt great, even saying that they hadn’t enjoyed themselves this much in a long ti.

They were so glad to have t Hai.

Upon returning ho, Jie was taken aback to find the place clearly ransacked, as if burglars had been there.

Hai explained that he did it, searching for a letter from long ago.

He couldn’t find it, and so the place ended up like this, promising to tidy up tomorrow.

After drinking so much, he wanted to go to sleep straight away.

Jie didn’t pay much attention, but when he returned to his room and found it also in disarray, he beca suspicious.

“Bro, when you were searching for things, why did you co into my room?” Jie was a bit puzzled, wondering if Hai had overstepped.

Hai chuckled, “I used to hide things from our parents, and sotis when I was afraid they would find my test papers, I would hide them in your room.”

“Oh, I see.

But what you’re looking for now isn’t a test paper, but a letter, which seed a bit odd.” Jie examined Hai with a significant look, making Hai a bit nervous, so he could only laugh awkwardly.

“Good lord, please don’t let him figure it out,” Hai thought with fear in his heart.

He wanted to confirm if Gu Fan had handed over the key to Jie, so he had hunted around in Jie’s room.

But Hai was afraid that Jie would notice any signs that soone had been rummaging through his room.

Therefore, Hai simply went overboard, ssing up the whole house more noticeably, making it seem as though Hai had searched the entire place.

Jie saw through Hai’s deception, with a grin that made Hai feel a cold sweat.

In response to Jie’s question, “Admit it, the letter you’re searching for is your high school love letter.

You were afraid that our parents would see it, that’s why you hid it in my room, isn’t it?”

“Ah… Yes,” Hai chuckled a few tis, looking embarrassed as if he’d been seen-through, but secretly relieved inside.
