692: Chapter 692: Such a Chaotic Scene 692: Chapter 692: Such a Chaotic Scene More rmaids joined the fray, but the numbers were still in favour of the pouch-like creatures.
A fierce battle erupted as if to decide who was the true ruler of this domain.
Gu Fan decided not to intervene, he slid down close to the floor and swam forward while observing the situation, signaling others to follow him.
Lin Xi was the first to reach Gu Fan’s side.
Her delicate figure was imdiately recognizable to him, but everyone else, dressed similarly and masked, were hard to distinguish.
Seeing Gu Fan and his team attempting to escape, so rmaids, unwilling to let this happen, tried to chase.
Unfortunately, swimming too high, they got entangled by tentacles, causing more rmaids to co to their rescue but leaving them unable to pursue Gu Fan and his team.
“Hocus Pocus, brethren, please let us pass.” As soon as Gu Fan finished his words, he saw a rmaid charging towards him.
Left with no choice, he defended using the ‘Upward Kicking’ move.
His feet slamd into the rmaid, kicking her up into the embrace of the tentacles.
“My apologies, it’s your aggression that brought this on,” Gu Fan said, wanting to move on.
But as he had lifted his leg too high while kicking out, a tentacle ensnared it, and he found himself trapped.
First one tentacle, then a second and a third wrapped around Gu Fan, preventing him from breaking free, then Gu Fan felt himself being dragged towards a powerful force.
“Oh my god!” Gu Fan cried, horrified to see a pouch-like creature opening its mouth to welco him, and he couldn’t escape.
In this life-threatening mont, Gu Fan decided to take a gamble.
He took out an electric baton, charged towards the pouch-like creature, and switched it on, electrocuting himself into convulsions.
The pouch-like creature seed distraught by the electrical current and released its grip on Gu Fan.
Only a while later did Gu Fan recover his mobility.
He thought to himself that he couldn’t afford to repeat such risky actions – his heart couldn’t take the stress.
Gu Fan assessed the situation around him.
The battle was at a stalemate, but regardless of who erged victorious, neither side would let Gu Fan and his team off the hook.
While the two sides were embroiled in conflict, the team seized the opportunity to escape.
But it wasn’t so easy, one of their n got caught by a rmaid.
Before the rmaid could drag him away, a host of tentacles swept in, ensnaring both the rmaid and the man.
It wasn’t that Gu Fan didn’t want to save them, but the sheer number of tentacles made it impossible.
Even five or six rmaids watching the scene could do nothing but watch helplessly as the man and the rmaid got devoured by a pouch-like creature.
Two other rmaids tried to block Gu Fan and his team’s path.
They swam close to the floor, mimicking their tactic.
However, Lin Xi slapped the water lightly causing a current that lifted the two rmaids upwards and into the grasp of the tentacles.
The two rmaids struggled vigorously, but the rmaids who initially intended to block Gu Fan and his team had to abandon their plans and try to save their companions first.
And so, Gu Fan and his team successfully swam past them.
The rmaids didn’t really want to attack Gu Fan and his team, but the mont they did, they would have to expose themselves to the tentacles.
If they were entwined, it would be no laughing matter.
Furthermore, engaging Gu Fan and his team in battle would involve a flurry of movents, increasing their chances of getting caught by the tentacles.
It was uncertain who would win the battle – the rmaids or the pouch-like creatures – but Gu Fan and his team couldn’t care less.
Using hands and feet, they swam forward with all their strength.
“Keep going, everyone, keep going,” Gu Fan urged as exhaustion began to sink in.
It felt as if he couldn’t swim any further.
But even if they only had a sliver of strength left, they must press on.
Even if they could advance only one ter, they would.
Maybe it’s this one ter that would bring them hope?
Oxygen was slowly depleting too, and breathing beca a struggle.
Each step forward seed to require more effort than ever before, and so even showed symptoms of dizziness.
“Can’t we make it?
Are we going to end here?” Gu Fan was tired and could barely swim.
Looking back, he saw that everyone was more or less in the sa state.
Just when everyone was on the verge of collapsing, a bright light suddenly appeared ahead, providing a glimr of hope and stirring the last bit of energy within them.
Gu Fan gritted his teeth, held onto Lin Xi’s arm and brought her to the front, before pushing her ahead forcefully.
With insufficient oxygen, Lin Xi’s consciousness was blurry, causing her spells to fail.
But she could feel that Gu Fan was entrusting his hope on her.
Seeing the light up ahead, she tried to pry her eyes open and swam forward in a daze.
With great difficulty, Lin Xi finally pulled herself up a slope and out of the water.
She swiftly took off her mask, gulping in big breaths of air.
She took a mont to rest, regardless of her own condition, and after a deep breath, she dove back into the ocean to cast spells, helping others regain strength, one person at a ti.
With Lin Xi’s help, everyone gradually regained strength, swam further, and one by one, climbed up the slope and escaped.
Lin Xi returned and noticed Gu Fan wasn’t among them, causing her to panic.
She dove back into the water, casting spells to help more people recover before swimming back.
anwhile, Lu Yi removed her mask and took deep breaths of air.
She then burst out laughing, “Oh my god, we actually escaped.
I can’t believe we were this lucky!”
Jie, Hai, Xu Haowen too let out a relieved smile.
They had truly cheated death this ti.
Looking around though, they noticed that Gu Fan and Lin Xi weren’t there.
They couldn’t help but worry for the young couple’s safety.
After a while, Lin Xi erged from the water, supporting Gu Fan, and climbed the slope.
They were both exhausted and collapsed onto the ground.
Lu Yi quickly ca over, helped Gu Fan remove his mask, and said, “Brother, keep breathing, keep breathing.
If you don’t, I’ll have to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.”
“Alright, alright, I got you,” Gu Fan responded, laughing.
Everyone else also laughed.
The feeling of having cheated death was inexplicably good.
Lu Yi couldn’t help but quip, “Guess what would Ouyang Jin’s first sentence be if he were here?”
“Definitely to complain about how tough the job of a tour guide is and then, increase the price,” chid everyone, laughing in amusent.
anwhile, back on the cargo ship, Ouyang Jin sneezed three tis in a row.
He felt as though people were badmouthing him.
