65: Chapter 65 Dark Fear 65: Chapter 65 Dark Fear They found themselves in a pitch-black corridor, with towering armor of the Great Night Country’s soldiers on both sides.

Each suit of armor held a long spear and wore a mask with protruding fangs, incredibly ferocious, as if defending this place.

The stark darkness added a dreadful quality to the scene.

Gu Fan rembered that during the day, this corridor did not have these armors.

They were placed at the other end, so what was really going on here?

Lu Yi cautiously made his way, casting wary glances at the armors around him, particularly the horrific masks, which made him anxious.

He blurted out, “Oh god, I feel like these armors are watching us.”

“Doomsayer, shut up.” Gu Fan was also nervous.

Not just Lu Yi, he too felt like he was being watched.

The armors lined on either side of the long corridor seed like a row of soldiers prepared to strike at any mont.

Jie shivered and suggested, “How about we speed up and quickly get through this corridor?”

Gu Fan nodded, and so the four quickened their pace.

At the sa ti, they could hear a faint whistling sound coming from behind.

Sothing was following them closely.

Just as they reached the end of the corridor, they suddenly found five rows of armor blocking their way.

It seed like they were purposefully stopping Gu Fan and his companions from getting through.

“What on earth is happening…” Gu Fan squeezed his brows together.

He sensed sothing strange about this palace.

Soone had purposefully set up the situation to wait for them.

Lu Yi suggested, “Since they don’t want us to go through, we will do exactly that.

There are gaps between the armors, we can squeeze through them.”

“This…” Jie hesitated a little.

The whistling sound behind them seed to get closer, which instantly made him shudder.

“All right, let’s go through it together.

All four of us will stick together.

I want to see what trick they’ll play next.” Under the leadership of Gu Fan, the four lined up and slowly squeezed their way through the rows of armor.

As Gu Fan moved forward, he used his flashlight to guide the way which reassured his companions that it was safe to follow him.

Walking at the back was Xia Yue, the most terrified of all.

He didn’t dare look back, terrified of the idea that soone might be following them.

His fear made him break into a cold sweat.

He kept his eyes fixed at Jie’s silhouette ahead, hoping they could get through safely.

Unconsciously, Xia Yue glanced at one of the suits of armor nearby, especially the ferocious mask with tusk-like teeth.

He stared at it for a bit, before noticing a movent right behind the mask, sothing like a pair of human eyes.

Unable to hold back, Xia Yue let out a scream.

The suddenness of the scream scared the daylights out of Gu Fan, Lu Yi, and Jie, causing them to almost jump out of their skins.

“What happened…” Gu Fan didn’t even finish his sentence when all of a sudden, the armors all around them collapsed onto them in a chaotic ss.

The armors were heavy.

Particularly the helt, which hit Gu Fan on the head.

It left him feeling extrely dizzy and disoriented.

Added to this was the impact of the other parts of the armor, causing Gu Fan to be knocked over.

The rest weren’t spared either, and as they fell, burying beneath the fallen armors.

That wasn’t the worst of it.

Gu Fan laid on the ground pinned down by two suits of armor.

He could feel more armors piling on top of him.

He curled into a ball, using his hands to protect his head.

After a mont, Gu Fan and his companions managed to get out from underneath the pile of collapsed armors.

Their heads throbbed, they couldn’t get their bearings right, but it seed like everyone was safe.

In the chaos, the flashlight Gu Fan had been using got buried under the armors, plunging their surroundings into darkness.

Suddenly, the whistling sound approached rapidly.

Gu Fan and his companions felt sothing swiftly swooshing past their heads.

Like frightened birds, they imdiately took off running.

“Everyone, follow .

Keep moving.” Gu Fan knew the situation was dangerous.

They needed to get away quickly.

Worse still, their minds were addled by the recent blow to their heads and the constant fear, causing them to think less clearly.

Seeing a figure following him, Gu Fan didn’t think much and started to run.

He could also feel others behind him.

Gu Fan had a sudden revelation and stopped in his tracks.

He turned around and saw Lu Yi and Jie behind him, but not Xia Yue.

His heart sank.

By now, their eyes had adjusted to the darkness.

Gu Fan could see Xia Yue running in the other direction, not only in the wrong way but also towards a few shadows.

“Damn it!” Gu Fan realised they’d been fooled.

Their enemy used fear to cause confusion.

He was sure it wasn’t just him who had been hit on the head by the armor; Xia Yue must’ve been hit too.

Therefore, in his panic, Xia Yue saw so people ahead and mistook them for allies.

Gu Fan and Lu Yi shouted out, but to no avail.

A large-scale song and dance performance outside suddenly erupted in high-volu music, drowning their voices.

Xia Yue didn’t hear them and disappeared at the other end of the hallway, vanishing into the night.

“Chase!” Gu Fan, Lu Yi, and Jie, despite suspecting danger, insisted on pursuit.

Even if they were outnumbered, they had to give it a shot.

As they sprinted down the corridor, the lights in the palace returned.

The sudden developnt left them disoriented, but they didn’t stop their pursuit.

They returned to the main hall where everything was unchanged; all the objects were still displayed, neither less nor more.

Only the previously closed door was now open, granting them the way out.

“This…..” Gu Fan and the others felt a sinking feeling in their hearts.

The door was open.

And what did this an?

Even their cell phone signal was back to normal.

But even with a glimr of hope, Gu Fan and the others didn’t give up.

They ran out, looking left and right, not knowing which direction Xia Yue had gone.

But they couldn’t hesitate anymore.

They had to gamble, choosing a direction, and continue chasing.

In their run, they encountered a few night-ti security guards, which astonished them.

They didn’t know if these were friends or foes.

The flustered security questioned Gu Fan and his group, “What happened to you?”

After hearing this, Gu Fan’s face sank: “My friend is missing.

He’s missing now, he was headed in this direction.

Have you seen him?”

“No, we didn’t see anyone when we ca here.” The guard’s response ignited anger in Gu Fan’s heart, Gu Fan demanded angrily, “Impossible!

He ca this way.

How could you not have seen him?

Are you blind?”

The guard was also infuriated: “What do you an?

We really didn’t see anyone.”

Gu Fan persisted as he was sure that Xia Yue headed in this direction.

He firmly believed the guards should have seen him.

Emotions spiraled out of control as Gu Fan roared, constantly accusing the guards.

Yet, Lu Yi and Jie were confused.

They were not sure whether Xia Yue indeed went in that direction.

They wondered how Gu Fan could be so certain.

Gu Fan was so sure because the strange happenings in the palace had museum staff’s fingerprints all over.

The palace blackout, the door being locked, strange objects being manipulated to fly around to create psychological pressure, armors were placed in the corridor to create disarray.

Only the museum personnel could arrange all of these, and these guards which conveniently appeared at this ti, made Gu Fan suspicious.

Both parties were locked in heated argunts.

Their voices attracted a crowd as the song and dance performance had just ended.

So of the audience left while so made another round only to co across this unexpected event.

Sister Leng watched Gu Fan arguing with the guards from within the crowd, and quickly deduced what had happened.

She imdiately called and asked everyone what they had found.

Soone told Sister Leng that they had seen Gu Fan’s group enter a palace and stay there for a while.

Because Jie was keeping watch, they couldn’t approach, and they didn’t know when the group had left.

Another group said that they saw Gu Fan’s group enter another palace, which then beca dark, and the door was closed.

They waited outside for a long ti but heard no sounds.

They wanted to continue waiting to see when Gu Fan and his group would leave, but a team of security guards passed by and asked if they needed help.

They also said that the palace was now closed and asked them to leave imdiately.

Having found out what had transpired, Sister Leng sighed.

Their opponents were ruthlessly cunning and had laid a perfect trap for Gu Fan’s group.

What caught Sister Leng’s attention was the fact that Gu Fan’s group had visited two palaces tonight.

Why did they visit these palaces so late?

They stayed in the first palace for so ti and then left without missing a person to visit the second palace.

Subsequently, Xia Yue disappeared.

“This kid wouldn’t visit a palace so late without good reason; he must have discovered sothing valuable.” With this thought in mind, Sister Leng imdiately ordered her subordinates to reveal which palace Gu Fan’s party visited first.

Upon being inford, Sister Leng frowned.

She had visited all the palaces herself.

But the first palace Gu Fan visited tonight was only ho to so murals, with nothing particularly special; according to the reports her subordinates gave her, Gu Fan had already visited this palace during the day.

She pondered why they then visited it again at night.

“He definitely discovered sothing.” Sister Leng continued to watch Gu Fan from the crowd, seeing his near-physical altercation with the security guards.

She could tell how furious he was.

Lu Yi and Jie quickly urged the security to seal off the museum to ensure nothing happened to their classmate.

However, the security guards refused and said that they would maintain a vigilant watch over the entrance and exit instead.

Just then, Su Hui, Lin Xi, and Du Jun arrived.

They didn’t know what had happened and quickly pulled Gu Fan away.

Su Hui asked Lu Yi about the situation, but Lu Yi stamred, finding it hard to express himself.

Upon noticing Xia Yue’s absence, Su Hui imdiately understood – the eighth person had disappeared.
