The chilly weather prevented him from venturing to the balcony to ponder over matters, so he lay in bed, hands cradling his head, trying to recollect all previous happenings.
Images of the boss, his father Gu Chuanshan, Zhang Yang and Ning Qi surfaced within his thoughts – all harboring particular interests toward the old house.
“Is it all rely a coincidence?” Gu Fan began to question.
After having gone through so many events, a multitude of coincidences erging together may not be a coincidence after all.
Gu Fan recalled the boss first proposing the acquisition of his family’s old house while a mber of the Zhu family, previous tenants of the house, was present.
Why would the boss express his interest in the old house so randomly?
Could the Zhu family mber have hinted sothing to him?
Zhang Yang was a descendant of one of the forr families inhabiting the house, which accounted for his interest, but what about Ning Qi?
What were her motives, and what agenda was the Shennv Xuanhui club pushing for?
Almost everyone was eyeing the old house.
Gu Fan began to speculate, was the true intention of Shennv Xuanhui to acquire the old house by leveraging the emotional ties he had with Lin Xi?
“This is no test.
They’re not testing my love for Lin Xi.” Gu Fan grew increasingly suspicious of Shennv Xuanhui’s real intentions.
Would they truly leave Lin Xi alone, upon finding his love for her to be genuine?
Did all the previous conflicts amount to rely a ga?
Gu Fan vividly rembered everyone making a concerted effort to save Lin Xi the last ti.
That incident in itself was a proof of his love for her.
There was nothing more to prove.
“What are you all up to?” Tornted by his thoughts, he couldn’t sleep.
He reached out to touch the wall, hoping to figure out what made the old house so special, but to no avail.
He sighed.
“Oh God!” Gu Fan moaned in frustration, pulling the covers over his head, hoping to push all thoughts away and get so sleep.
The next morning, he was awoken abruptly at 4 am by a series of knocks.
It had to be Gu Ling returning.
But anticipating this, he’d already locked his door, not permitting Gu Ling to enter.
“Brother, open the door quickly, I’ve brought a guest.” Called out Gu Ling from outside.
Gu Fan retorted, “If there is a guest, you entertain.
Let sleep so more.”
After a long wait for a response, Gu Ling gave up.
Apologizing to her guest – Sister Liu Yao, she said, “Sorry sister Liu Yao, my brother loves to sleep in.
Maybe we shouldn’t tour this room.”
Hearing these words, Gu Fan woke up and imdiately rose from his bed.
He quickly tossed on so clothing, disregarding the biting cold and his appearance, and then swung open the door, surprising Liu Yao and Gu Ling who had just started walking away.
“Sorry, I didn’t get much sleep last night.
I’ll brush my teeth and join you shortly.
Feel free to take a look around.” With that, Gu Fan rushed to freshen up and make himself presentable.
His quick dress and exit left his sister groaning, “Oh God, your room is a ss, just like a pigsty.
How can I walk people through here?”
In response, Gu Fan advised, “Then take them to your room.” Checking himself in the mirror, he realized he looked exhausted.
Taking a deep breath to compose himself, he hoped Liu Yao’s visit wasn’t for the reason he suspected.
Gu Ling was about to lead Liu Yao to Su Hui’s room, but realized Su Hui had left for work and the door was locked.
Then reflecting on the tension between Su Hui and Liu Yao, she dropped the idea.
After all, Liu Yao had stolen Su Hui’s boyfriend.
After the brief tour, Liu Yao accompanied Gu Ling to the living room.
As they chatted and snacked, Gu Fan joined them, expressing his gratitude towards Liu Yao.
“I must thank you for your help the other day.
You helped find the person I was searching for.”
“Oh, you managed to find Leng Le.” Liu Yao exclaid in surprise, for she only gave Gu Fan a vague idea of her location.
Intrigued as to how Gu Fan located Leng Le, she asked, “Do tell, how did you manage to bump into Leng Le?”
“Fate must be at play between Leng Le and .
I was walking about and found myself at her shop,” Gu Fan shared casually.
However, Liu Yao inferred that Gu Fan must’ve visited nurous shops before eventually stumbling on hers.
Gu Fan would not disclose any more to Liu Yao.
Instead, he extended his gratitude effusively and treated her to more delicacies, inquiring about her availability to visit the old house.
Liu Yao replied, “I asked for my father’s advice.
He told that my family, the Liu family, used to reside in this house.
So, I felt a strong connection to Gu Ling.
Who would’ve thought that we’d et again after such a long separation?
Especially considering that we lived next door to each other overseas, and Gu Ling even saved my life.”
“Exactly, I feel the sa way.” Gu Fan humored Liu Yao, offering her tea and food warmly.
This hospitality made Liu Yao and Gu Ling a tad uncomfortable, almost as if Gu Fan had ulterior motives.
Gu Fan continued, “My grandfather used to say that he missed the vibrancy of living with many others under one roof.
I never understood what he ant until Sister Su and Xiaoling moved in with .
Now, we have a few more rooms available, and I would love for more people to live in this house.”
Agreeing with him, Liu Yao nodded, “Yes, my father shared similar sentints.
I can still rember how much fun we three children had playing together.”
Seeing Liu Yao deeply nostalgic, Gu Fan proposed, “In that case, why don’t you move in?
We can relive past mories.”
“But wouldn’t it be inappropriate considering my strained relationship with Su Hui…” Liu Yao seed hesitant, though her acting was unconvincing.
Gu Fan quickly interrupted, “Let’s put the past in the past.
We must look forward.
Our world is vast and the squabbles between us seem trivial.”
“Well, you’re not wrong.
To be honest, I’d love to nd ways with Su Hui.
Perhaps moving in would allow us to get to know each other better?” Liu Yao pondered hypothetically, as if she sincerely hoped for such a resolution.
“Alright, it’s settled then.” Gu Fan’s surprise was dramatically believable.
