19: Chapter 19 Outside the House 19: Chapter 19 Outside the House The so-called ‘Second Generations of Wealth’ always have a more advantageous family background than others.

They never worry about having too much or too little money; they never feel regret for not being able to afford sothing.

This group of people is admired by many, making them feel a certain sense of superiority.

However, they all have a fatal flaw: they hate it when people say that without their good upbringing, without their good father, they would be nothing.

Of course, many of them do work hard, trying to prove that they do not rely rely on their family, trying to show that they have their own abilities.

Yet, in the end, they still have to hear that if it weren’t for their wealthy family, providing them with a good education, sufficient funds, and strong connections, leaving them free of worries to commit their efforts, they wouldn’t be so accomplished.

Whilst most people, who voice their critique on such ‘Second Generations of Wealth’, deep down also wish to be one.

Who doesn’t want to be born in a wealthy family?

Who wants to worry about not having enough money to spend all day?

Du Jun is no exception.

He is fully aware that there are people behind him saying that he was fortunate to be born into a rich family.

Otherwise, he would probably be no better than others.

This doesn’t sit well with Du Jun.

However, he simply doesn’t want to prove that these envious voices are wrong.

He believes he doesn’t need to mull over such things with these people.

However, there’s one person whom Du Jun feels he must defeat, and that person is Gu Fan.

Not because he lost to Gu Fan when trying to win over Lin Xi.

Du Jun doesn’t see himself as a sore loser.

But there seems to be sothing in Gu Fan that invokes fear deep within Du Jun’s heart.

Every ti Du Jun displays his strengths, he can see the envious and jealous looks of those around him.

These people all long to be a ‘Second Generation of Wealth’ like Du Jun.

Gu Fan, on the other hand, is different.

The jealousy in his eyes is only ever so slight.

It’s as if there is a much nobler pursuit within Gu Fan’s heart, far outweighing the status of being a wealthy inheritor.

The old house of the Gu family encapsulates the efforts of Gu Fan’s great-grandfather, grandfather, and father.

They are Gu Fan’s best role models.

They were born poor and achieved little, but they worked hard, generation by generation, always advancing towards a steadfast goal.

The most terrible thing for a person is not how they were born, but rather not having a firm and grand goal to strive towards.

Growing up in that old house, Gu Fan would always listen to his grandfather’s teachings.

Gu Fan still rembers his grandfather once said: “It doesn’t matter what kind of person you are right now; what matters is what kind of person you want to beco.”

Gu Fan has also been inspired to set a goal for himself.

However, as he grew older, he realized that it’s not easy to find such a goal.

When he was young, he wanted to be a scientist.

As he got slightly older, he got into comics and wanted to enter the manga industry, and finally, even his choice of studying computer science in university changed.

Indeed, Gu Fan still hasn’t found his life goal.

He doesn’t know what kind of person he wants to beco.

Therefore, he neither despises Du Jun, a hedonistic inheritor, nor envies Du Jun’s rich upbringing.

However, Du Jun sees Gu Fan as a rival, vowing to do sothing to surpass him.

Of course, Gu Fan has no interest in petty competitions.

“Alright then, your sports car is very beautiful, but it can only fit so few people, it’s not practical.

You can’t give us a ride ho.

You better hurry and drive your expensive car ho.

What if soone accidentally hits your car?

They won’t be able to pay for the damage!” After saying that, Gu Fan grabbed Lin Xi’s hand and left.

Lin Xi glanced back at the beautiful sports car with a touch of emotion in her heart.

Who doesn’t want to hop in and experience the exhilarating speed?

Gu Fan gave a faint laugh and said, “I like sports cars too, but I can’t afford one.

But I’ll work hard in the future to earn money and then buy an ordinary car to drive you to and from work every day, ensuring you won’t be exposed to the elents.”

“That sounds nice.

As for the car, anything average will do.

When there’s traffic, aren’t they all the sa?” Lin Xi laughed.

In fact, what most girls want is not houses or cars, but genuine affection.

The reason Lin Xi choses Gu Fan so decisively is that he always makes her feel cherished, and such care is irreplaceable.

For instance, every ti Lin Xi suffers from period pains in her dormitory, Gu Fan would return ho to prepare brown sugar ginger water and manage to send it to her in the school.

It’s not a simple ‘drink more hot water’ kind of solution.

Whenever Lin Xi encounters a difficult problem, Gu Fan would silently find a way to solve it for her, making Lin Xi feel that Gu Fan, as a boyfriend, is very dependable.

All of Gu Fan’s actions make Lin Xi feel that their love is solid and can last until the end.

anwhile, Gu Fan doesn’t carry out any pointless gestures of concern.

He always maintains his principles and values in front of Lin Xi.

Du Jun can vaguely sense that the reason he lost to Gu Fan in pursuing Lin Xi is not due to money.

It’s because Gu Fan possesses a certain quality that he can’t match, sothing that he resists.

Because of this resistance, Du Jun dislikes Gu Fan.

Another important reason is that Du Jun doesn’t want Gu Fan to be with Lin Xi.

Du Jun watched Lin Xi, hand in hand with Gu Fan, as they jogged away.

Although he could only see their backs, he could sense that Lin Xi was smiling at that mont, her silhouette appearing light-hearted.

At that mont, Lu Yi ca up to them, looking pitiful.

“They’ve left us behind just like that.

We’re both in such a terrible situation.

Could you give a ride back?”

“Sorry, but I don’t want people to get the wrong idea that I swing that way.” After saying this, Du Jun drove off in his sports car, leaving Lu Yi alone and disheveled in the wind.

“What the?

Seriously, what’s happening?

Do I really look that desperate?”

Looking at the direction in which Gu Fan and Lin Xi had left, and then Du Jun drove away, Lu Yi felt sorry for himself.

Gu Fan had soone for company, Du Jun had a sports car to drive, and he, Lu Yi, was all alone.

Nevermind that, Lu Yi quickly followed Gu Fan and Lin Xi, unaware that the tall man who had barely avoided being caught earlier was hiding and spying on them from a corner.

Scared of being discovered again, he didn’t dare to follow them this ti.

The man made a call.

“Hello, Sister Leng.

I’ve almost been caught.

I can’t follow them anymore.

But they seem to be heading ho.

And that guy nad Du Jun is here too.

He ca in a flashy sports car.

I doubt I can keep up now.”

A calm voice ca from the other end of the call.

“Alright, I understand.

You can start following other students.

If my guess is correct, there will be another disappearance soon.

You must rember not to get caught.

As for what to do if you do get caught, you know the consequences.

Don’t make things difficult for and, more importantly, don’t disappoint .”

“Understood, Sister Leng.

We’ll be careful.” The man hung up the phone, sweating profusely from his forehead.

anwhile, Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Lu Yi returned to Gu Fan’s old house, completely unaware of the situation.

Having nothing to do, they took a deck of cards, grabbed so beers and sodas, and began their only form of entertainnt.

They decided to celebrate being debt-free by wasting precious ti that day.

Starting the next day, they planned to start working hard to make up for what they had lost.

What’s more, they would soon be starting school and would be very busy with both work and class.

With this in mind, Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Lu Yi enjoyed their card ga.

They drank until they vomited.

Once they vomited, they drank again.

When they were tired of playing cards, they played a team ga on their phones.

They were determined to indulge themselves that day.

Before they knew it, the three of them had played until nightfall.

Afraid that Lin Xi’s parents might worry, Gu Fan suggested that she go ho.

However, Lin Xi seed unhappy, even annoyed with Gu Fan’s persistent urging.

Lu Yi thought Gu Fan was being clueless.

Lin Xi clearly wanted to stay and take advantage of you, lad.

But Gu Fan didn’t see it that way.

He knew why Lin Xi didn’t want to leave that late.

All he wanted was a peaceful night.

It hadn’t been easy to repay the debt and he didn’t want any more trouble.

Eventually, Lin Xi got angry.

“So, you really want to go, huh?

Am I getting in your way?”

After hearing these words, Gu Fan was at a loss.

Lu Yi also started to realize the severity of the problem, feeling that a storm was coming, and it would fiercely strike Gu Fan’s old house.

Just as Gu Fan was feeling troubled, the sound of the door opening made his heart race.

Weren’t they supposed to be working late today?

A tall figure walked in, an air of stunning beauty following her.

Su Hui glanced around the room, remaining calm, even indifferent to the presence of Lu Yi and Lin Xi, treating them as if they were just parts of the air.

Gu Fan wanted to say sothing, but he noticed Su Hui pacing back and forth in the living room, continually peeping out the window, looking alert.

He realized sothing was seriously wrong with her.

“What’s wrong with you, pretty lady?

You seem…” Lu Yi tried to continue, but Su Hui gestured for him to be quiet.

Gu Fan, Lin Xi and Lu Yi suddenly felt a chill down their spines.

Then, Su Hui turned off the light and signaled them to crouch down, her expression serious and determined.

Not knowing what was going on, Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Lu Yi followed suit.

Their instincts told them that sothing serious had happened.

Gu Fan approached Su Hui cautiously who was near the main door and asked in a whisper, “Officer, what’s going on?

Is this so sort of act?

Please don’t scare .”

Su Hui frowned and then scrutinized Gu Fan.

She asked in a low voice, “Boy, what exactly have you done?

Why has soone been secretly surveilling your house these past few days?”
