Chapter 1695: Chapter 1695: The Unsettling Ghost Town
At night, Gu Fan couldn’t sleep. He got out of the vehicle, saw the driver still hard at work, and leaned over to ask, “Hey, driver brother, are you confident to fix it before dawn?”
The driver paused his inspection, took the flashlight out of his mouth, wiped the sweat off his forehead, and looked like he had little hope.
The driver shook his head, “So parts are broken and need replacing, otherwise this vehicle can barely be on the road, but how far it will go, I don’t know…”
Gu Fan said, “As far as it can go, as long as we can reach a place with a cell signal.”
“I’ll do my best.” The driver said, handing the flashlight to Gu Fan to help illuminate.
Gu Fan took the flashlight and helped while thinking of sothing, then he turned around to look, and then he used the flashlight to shine in other directions, as if searching for sothing.
The driver was puzzled, “What’s the matter, what are you looking for?”
Gu Fan furrowed his brow, “This place used to be a small town. Is there no signal tower?”
“Probably dismantled!” The driver finished speaking and signaled Gu Fan to help illuminate.
At this mont, a young couple got out of the car. They glanced at Gu Fan and the driver, said nothing, and walked to an empty area.
Gu Fan guessed roughly what they wanted to do, and didn’t pay much attention.
The driver shouted to the couple, “Don’t go too far.”
The couple didn’t answer, they disappeared behind a building, out of Gu Fan’s view.
Given that the sleeping environnt wasn’t ideal, many people woke up intermittently. Because of bad sleeping posture, they felt uncomfortable, so a few people were getting down to stretch.
Li Shi, waking up to see Gu Fan not in his seat, got down to check.
“How’s it going, is it fixed?” Li Shi asked, echoing what others wanted to ask.
“Give a little more ti. If it’s really not possible, we’ll have to rely on our legs.” The driver said, preparing everyone ntally.
Everyone heard this and showed displeased expressions. After all, it was the driver who took the wrong road, leading to the current predicant.
Gu Fan looked around, showing a puzzled expression, “Just now, why hasn’t that couple returned yet? It shouldn’t take so long to handle things, right?”
“Who knows, maybe on impulse, they went for a quickie in the wild? You young people should understand, right?” A burly man chuckled, his teasing made others laugh as well.
Li Shi was slightly taken aback, then pretended not to understand.
Suddenly, a scream full of fear ca, scaring everyone, and those asleep in the vehicle were also awoken.
Everyone widened their eyes, staring in the direction of the sound, which was exactly where the young couple had gone.
“Oh my god, everyone get in the car!” The driver quickly shouted, and everyone snapped back to reality, rushing into the vehicle.
Once everyone was inside, the driver closed the door, and everyone stared anxiously outside the window, fear causing their heartbeats to accelerate, their breaths becoming heavier, their bodies slightly trembling.
A mont later, the surroundings were silent as if nothing had happened, but the couple was still nowhere to be seen.
Soone asked, “What on earth happened just now? What about them?”
The burly man replied, “If you want to find out, you can go take a look.”
The person was at a loss for words on the spot and said nothing more.
A beautiful woman in red speculated, “Maybe they just fell into so pit, knocked themselves out, and actually need help, not what we’re thinking.”
Upon hearing this, everyone thought it made so sense, but no one suggested going to check.
Li Shi saw everyone was very scared, and she couldn’t stand it anymore, “There are so many people, so many n; do we really need to be this scared?”
“This…” Several adult n glanced at each other, montarily uncertain about what to do.
Gu Fan sharp-eyed, saw a silhouette seem to be moving in a building, thus reminded everyone to pay attention.
However, when everyone looked over, the silhouette had long disappeared, so soone reproached, “Who? You’re scaring us.”
Gu Fan realized he misspoke, knowing that in this situation, everyone was jittery, not wanting to speak carelessly.
Of course, among so many people, there wasn’t a lack of concern that the couple might have had a minor mishap and needed help, and the situation might not be as dangerous.
After a while, nothing happened, so the driver proposed, “Why don’t we send a few people to take a look.”
Everyone hesitated, looking at each other, none seemingly willing to go.
Suddenly, lights appeared behind, a sedan drove in, entering the small town.
“Soone’s coming! Maybe they can help.” The driver’s words gave everyone hope, and so even opened the car door to welco them.
Gu Fan and Li Shi stayed inside the vehicle, continuously staring at the incoming sedan, feeling sothing weird.
The sedan, upon entering the small town, noticeably slowed down, seemingly surprised to see a bus, catching the people in the sedan off guard.
Everyone looked hopeful, hoping to get assistance to leave this place.
But after the sedan stopped, the people inside didn’t get out quickly, as if observing sothing?
Gu Fan found it strange, this small town was so remote, how could soone mistakenly drive here this late, unless they were originally residents here?
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, two people got out of the sedan, their faces not looking good, giving an impression of not being good to approach.
The driver was the first to interact with them, briefly explaining how they accidentally ended up here, and ntioning the bus breakdown.
The two also said they went the wrong way, unexpectedly arriving here, finding it quite a coincidence.
Initially, the communication between the two sides was okay, everyone let down their guard, not to ntion only two people on the other side, and nearly thirty people on their own side, absolutely unafraid of a conflict.
Gu Fan observed, though feeling sothing wasn’t right, he couldn’t pinpoint what it was.
At this mont, Gu Fan noticed an inadvertent glance from one of them towards a direction, exactly the building where Gu Fan had seen the silhouette earlier.
Instantly, a bad premonition made Gu Fan a bit fearful, he hurriedly grabbed Li Shi’s hand, got out of the vehicle, and when no one was paying attention, he and Li Shi hid in the small town.
“What’s going on?” Li Shi was puzzled, not understanding why Gu Fan wanted to separate from the group. Did he discover sothing?
