“What do you want? Do you want to hold accountable for my cris later?” Ning Qi was very nervous, terrified that Gu Fan might harm her.
Gu Fan sized her up with an intrigued smile and even made a comnt, “I really can’t tell, Ning Qi, you must be at least fifty by now, right? Gu Fan smirked again, “Let give you a promise, Ning Qi. What if I marry you in the future? Make you the mistress of the X Legion?”
“What?” Everyone who heard this thought it must be a joke.
Ning Qi was still in a daze, but Gu Xiaojin was the first to stand up in opposition. “No way! If you marry this bad woman, what about Auntie Li Shi? What about Xiaotian? He wouldn’t even be born, and I wouldn’t have a little brother to bully!”

Gu Xiaojin still voiced strong opposition. “I disagree! If you dare marry another one, the house will never be peaceful, and I’ll run away from ho!”
One of the X Legion mbers kindly reminded her, “Young Miss, haven’t you already run away from ho?”
“Shut up!” Gu Xiaojin was very angry now and couldn’t be more determined.
Gu Fan put on a look of helplessness and offered Ning Qi an apology. “Sorry, Ning Qi. My daughter opposes this, so I can’t marry you. But, you know, I could still treat you well in other ways, like supporting you for the rest of your life or sothing?”
“I object! You can only support one woman, and that’s Auntie Li Shi!” Gu Xiaojin clearly disliked Ning Qi. It was obvious—her enemy was right in front of her.
Gu Fan noticed this. His daughter’s strong dislike toward Ning Qi must have a reason.
So, Gu Fan directly pulled over one of the X Legion captains and quietly asked if there was any bad history between Gu Xiaojin and Ning Qi.
The captain was a bit nervous because Gu Fan had already noted down his service number. If the captain wasn’t honest about the situation, Gu Fan ensured that twenty years later, when he beca the Demon King, he would make sure the captain regretted this dishonesty.
After the captain’s explanation, Gu Fan learned the truth. Years ago, Su Hui had fled with Gu Xiaojin, and along the way, they were pursued by many people—Ning Qi included.
At the ti, Ning Qi was ruthless, causing significant suffering for Su Hui and her daughter, which explained why Gu Xiaojin despised Ning Qi.
Realizing this, Gu Fan was now furious and began considering how to strike back at Ning Qi. But just then, Ning Qi said sothing that extinguished his anger. Now, as Gu Fan observed the hostile glares between Gu Xiaojin and Ning Qi, and caught the strange expressions on the people around him, he suddenly realized—this wasn’t just a family squabble anymore.
So, Gu Fan issued a command. “Alright, enough of this. Take to see that thing right now.”
“O…okay…” The X Legion mbers knew what to do and all turned to Ning Qi; after all, she was the person in charge of the Demon Refining Island Base.
In response, Ning Qi’s attitude was strong and firm. She outright refused. “Gu Fan, if you want to ruin our plans, dream on. We are loyal to the Demon King. Even if you’ll beco the Demon King in the future, you are not the Demon King now.”
To this, Gu Fan appeared indifferent. “You can choose to disobey , but don’t bla when I beco the Demon King and retaliate against you.”
Ning Qi retorted, “If you succeed in ruining the Demon King’s plans, do you think the Demon King will spare us?”
Upon hearing this, the X Legion mbers finally understood. Their loyalty was to the Demon King, and the Demon King’s interests had to be prioritized. They resolved to firmly defend this place.
And so, the X Legion mbers once again raised their guns, aiming them at Gu Fan with a resolute, unyielding stance.
“Are you really going to get serious?” Gu Fan’s eyes grew colder, signaling to the X Legion that he wasn’t joking around.
Ning Qi said sothing that bolstered their courage. “Don’t be afraid. You’re all wearing helts; he wouldn’t dare fight you. And even if he returns to the past, twenty years from now, when he becos the Demon King, he won’t rember what any of you look like.”
Her words made sense. Encouraged by their captain, the group reinforced their determination to oppose Gu Fan.
But what Gu Fan said next sent chills down everyone’s spine.
He emphasized his words. “Let make it clear: if even a single person dares to fire at today, when I return to the past, twenty years from now, even if you’ve safeguarded my interests faithfully, I’ll ensure not a single person from the Demon Refining Island Base survives.”
“You…you’re being unreasonable…” Ning Qi was furious. This completely put everyone in a bind.

Protecting the Demon King’s interests while avoiding conflict with Gu Fan—this was an impossible situation. The X Legion mbers were on the verge of tears.

Gu Fan knew he had to act quickly. He grabbed one of the X Legion mbers and ordered him to lead the way. Gu Fan needed to see what was buried deep in the volcano.
Under pressure, the X Legion could only comply, silently praying for protection with all their might.
Gu Xiaojin watched this scene in absolute shock, nearly speechless. She thought to herself, “How is this even working out?”
There was no choice. The X Legion revered the Demon King, feared him to their core, and didn’t want to provoke Gu Fan. They had no option but to adhere to his demands.
If they had known Gu Fan’s identity earlier, they might have been able to keep him out of the Demon Refining Island Base entirely, simply waiting for the Demon King’s orders on what to do. But now, with Gu Fan already inside, facing him directly, the X Legion was in a passive and untenable position—Gu Fan could kill anyone who defied him, while they couldn’t retaliate.
Resolving this predicant would require luring Gu Fan into a room and trapping him, veering away from direct confrontation.
Unfortunately, Gu Fan had anticipated this possibility. So, he deliberately brought several key personnel from the base along with him, putting his arm around their shoulders and pretending to be on good terms, when in reality, he was ensuring they couldn’t flee.
