1638: Chapter 1638: Between Father and Son 1638: Chapter 1638: Between Father and Son The battle erupted amidst the ruins of this desolate land.
No one worried about causing further destruction here; they unleashed their attacks with relentless ferocity.
An armored vehicle was reduced to scrap tal, overturned on the ground, and the X Legion’s dead lay scattered everywhere, their ranks suffering catastrophic losses.
Leng Feng grabbed a vampire, looked at it with disdain, and then casually tossed it aside.
“Don’t get complacent.
The enemy’s strength is still greater than ours.
We need to leave imdiately,” Jie said, maintaining his calm mind despite the minor victory in the skirmish.
The other mbers of the resistance nodded repeatedly, eager to flee the area.
Who knew how many enemies had descended upon them this ti?
Just as they were about to make their retreat, a figure appeared in their field of vision, approaching slowly and triggering an imdiate alert among everyone.
Though the figure seed to move at a leisurely pace, for so inexplicable reason the distance between them rapidly decreased.
His strides carried an uncanny power, as if space-ti itself was contorting around him.
Soon, everyone recognized the figure—familiar build, familiar face—it was Gu Fan.
“It’s you, Gu Fan, thank goodness!” Soone from the resistance breathed a sigh of relief and moved forward to greet him.
Seeing it was one of their own, Leng Feng and Jie also relaxed their tense nerves.
The other mbers of the resistance began questioning Gu Fan’s whereabouts, what he’d just been doing, and what they should do next.
However, Gu Fan ignored them, brushing past as if they didn’t exist.
At this mont, Leng Feng took a closer look.
Sothing seed off—Gu Fan’s expression was detached, and his attitude toward everyone was completely different from before.
It felt as though he had transford into a different person.
Jie noticed it too, and the realization struck him suddenly.
Unfortunately, the rest of the resistance remained clueless, continuing to speak to Gu Fan, desperately placing their hopes on him.
“Idiots, run now!” Leng Feng shouted urgently, issuing a warning that sent a wave of panic through the group.
While they still didn’t understand what was happening, seeing the horrified expressions on Leng Feng and Jie’s faces left them deeply unsettled.
Gu Fan let out a cold snort, releasing a surge of Qi that instantly sent everyone nearby flying.
The shockwave of his monstrous strength caused so of the ordinary fighters to spit blood.
“This…
why…” said the mbers of the resistance, sprawled on the ground in terror as they stared at Gu Fan, now radiating pure murderous energy.
Their disbelief was palpable—it was unfathomable that this man, once hailed as their hero and their beacon of hope, stood against them.
“It’s you.
I never imagined you’d co in person,” Jie and Leng Feng stiffened completely, their teeth clenched as they prepared for battle.
Gu Fan crossed his arms, his stance oozing arrogance.
“You destroyed my domain.
Naturally, I’m here to return the favor.
Besides, I need to confirm sothing—and judging by your reactions just now, my suspicion has been proven right.”
Hearing this, the resistance mbers finally understood.
The Gu Fan standing before them was no longer the one they knew—this Gu Fan was the Great Demon King.
The Demon King watched Leng Feng’s tense and furious deanor with interest before speaking again.
“Kid, you’ve always wanted answers about your mother, haven’t you?
You’ve always wanted to know why I made her give birth to you.
Today, I’ll tell you—it was purely out of boredom, finding a woman to pass ti with.
To put it more bluntly, it was just for fun.”
“You bastard!” Leng Feng erupted with rage and charged toward the Demon King, the hatred in his eyes burning like wildfire.
Jie tried to hold Leng Feng back but failed.
Unable to ignore him, Jie reluctantly joined the fray.
Leng Feng roared, unleashing his full strength in a strike aid at the Demon King.
“Co on, let see how much you’ve improved,” the Demon King said, calm and unperturbed, watching Leng Feng’s furious attack as if observing a child’s tantrum.
The fist approached nearer and nearer, yet the Demon King remained unmoved, as though no one in the world could shake him.
When the fist was re inches from his face, the Demon King struck with lightning speed, gripping Leng Feng’s fist tightly, making it impossible for him to land the blow.
“You’ve improved a little in strength.” The Demon King delivered his evaluation, his voice calm and composed.
Leng Feng, however, gritted his teeth, straining to push his fist forward, but was unable to move it even an inch.
The disparity in power was unquestionable.
“Let him go!” Jie leapt into the fray, his foot aid directly at the Demon King.
The Demon King smirked faintly and struck back with an even faster kick, sending Jie flying.
The raw power of his blow left Jie coughing up blood.
“Old friend, don’t interfere—or I won’t hold back today.” The Demon King issued his warning.
He then turned his attention back to Leng Feng, watching his furious yet defiant expression.
“Tell , whose temper do you take after?”
“None of your business who I take after, but it’s definitely not you,” Leng Feng growled.
His voice soon choked as an unbearable force gripped his arm, the pain making his bones feel on the verge of shattering.
Leng Feng refused to yield, but the overwhelming power gradually forced him to his knees.
“You should count yourself lucky to be my son—my eldest son, no less.
Otherwise, with that attitude of yours, I’d gladly kill you ten tis over.” The Demon King’s face turned solemn, his tone carrying a warning.
“Now answer this: Did my past self arrive in this era?
Are you trying to exploit his strength to defeat ?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Leng Feng gritted out, enduring the pain, while Jie rose, clutching his injured side.
“It doesn’t matter if you deny it.
I know he’s here.
But even with his arrival, the outco won’t change.
I’m stronger now than I ever was, and I won’t be burdened by the foolish sentintality of the past,” the Demon King declared coldly.
Then, he knocked Leng Feng unconscious with a powerful punch.
Soon, mbers of the X Legion arrived, taking the unconscious Leng Feng away.
Jie panicked and shouted, “Wait!
Where are you taking him?!”
“Old friend, do us a favor—don’t interfere.
Step aside,” the Demon King replied, turning away to leave.
“Stop!
I have one more question for you!” Jie called out, unable to watch the Demon King depart.
He thought about stalling for ti in hopes that Gu Fan would arrive—only Gu Fan could contend with the Demon King.
The Demon King turned back, his gaze icy.
“What question?”
“You… this…” Jie faltered, unable to co up with a good question.
Finally, he steeled himself and asked if the Demon King truly felt no sense of loyalty or sentint.
At first, the Demon King froze briefly, then his expression darkened.
“Old friend, your acting is pitiful.
You don’t have a question—you’re just stalling for ti, aren’t you?”
