139: Chapter 139: Underground Demon 139: Chapter 139: Underground Demon “Hurry, run faster!” Jie and Ouyang Jin ran at the front.

The route they chose determined everyone’s fate.

The pressure was enormous.

Now the palace seed to be infinite in its supply of strong acid.

In so places, the acid was like a drizzle, unavoidable.

At other tis, the acid dripped slowly, allowing one to dash across swiftly.

What was worse, this chanism was exquisite.

The constant drips of acid forced others to change their route in small scales, and led them to dead ends, where they would then be overwheld by concentrated acid.

Now, Su Hui and her company were facing this situation.

Regardless of how they ran, strong acid was dripping behind them.

The degree was not intense, but they dared not to break through by force.

So these drips of acid overhead made them move forward.

As Su Hui and the others reached a three-way crossroad.

They thought of turning left to get back to the underground river they ca from.

But once they made a left turn, they saw a ton of acid coming down in front, and rotting at on the ground.

They saw signs of agonizing struggles, guessing what just happened here, dare not force their way forward.

They imdiately changed their course to the right.

They ran a bit further and found a door blocking their path.

This made them very anxious because the acid was dripping faster behind them and was about to catch up.

“Quickly figure out a way to open the door.” At Jie’s desperate cry, everyone tried pushing the gate together.

Regardless of how hard they tried, the door wouldn’t budge.

“Oh my God, really?” Jie, panting heavily, turned around to look.

The acid was falling like rain, forcing them into a corner.

No going back now.

Su Hui shone the flashlight upward and found so small holes in the ceiling.

The acid dripped from these holes.

The size of the holes seed to be controlled by the chanism, slowly opening to control the amount of acid dripping.

If it weren’t for the dire situation, Su Hui truly admired the designer of this chanism.

Knowing that the acid is limited, they used the opening and closing of the holes to control the location and intensity of the acid rain.

Su Hui stopped everyone,” It seems no matter where we run it’s pointless.

The chanism designer has calculated all our possible routes, blocking all of them and forcing us to run here.”

“So what do we do now?

We can’t just wait for death,” Jie was frantic, and everyone else was equally demoralized.

Su Hui added, “The more we stay here, the more acid will fall.

Eventually, they’ll trap us all.

So we need to hurry and rush through.”

“No way, being dribbled on by the acid will hurt so much.” Qin Jia and Lin Xi, both beauty conscious, were afraid of getting scars.

No need to ntion it, Su Hui was also beauty conscious.

Rushing straight ahead will presumably ruin their faces.

Hence, she gritted her teeth, decided to turn back, and forcibly kicked the door open, instantly stunning everyone.

This was truly incredible.

“What are you waiting for, get in quickly.” Led by Su Hui, everyone rushed into the room, hoping that desperate tis do not signify a dead end.

Once inside, they found it wasn’t a sealed chamber, there was another gate opposite them.

Jie and Ouyang Jin opened the door without Su Hui’s help, everyone imdiately rushed out to discover it was safe without any acid dripping down.

Moreover, Su Hui glanced back and saw that the acid flow seed to have stopped, no more incoming threat.

And her strained ears didn’t catch any more screams.

They were indeed out of the acid rainstorm.

Having another narrow escape, Jie was close to collapsing, “The chanism designer is ruthless.

If the acid supply was higher and could rain down freely, who could’ve possibly escaped?”

Su Hui agreed, “It is due to the shortage of acid that the chanism forces people to change the path and get into dead ends by the small-scale acid drip; Next, the large-scale acid rainstorm takes care of all intruders.”

If they were lucky, what about the other group from the ancient town?

The painful screams they heard upfront must have indicated heavy casualties.

Thinking about the rotting at on the ground gave them the creeps.

At this mont, Jie couldn’t help but say, “I wonder how many traps are still left in here.”

Lin Xi glared at him, “Lu Yi isn’t here any longer, Jie do you want to beco the doomsayer next?”

“No, no, I was just giving a friendly reminder.” After saying this, Jie scratched his head in embarrassnt.

Ouyang Jin suggested, “Maybe we should go back where we ca from and try to activate the chanism again, to find Gu Fan and Du Jun.

We cannot just leave them behind.”

“Nobody wants to leave them behind, but we just ran around in panic, God only knows where we are now.” Su Hui’s question made everyone realize the harsh reality.

They truly didn’t know where they were, in the massive palace, they were definitely lost.

Jie shook his head, “It seems only a ghost would know where we are.

Is there any ghost who can tell us where to go?”

“You’re crazy.

If there really are ghosts, you’ll be the first one we hold accountable.” Lin Xi and Qin Jia imdiately objected.

Everyone was already on edge; bringing up terrifying matters would only drive everyone to insanity.

Jie quickly apologized, “Alright, alright, it’s my fault.

We need to go find Gu Fan and the others.

That’s the most urgent matter.”

“Shush, be quiet.” Su Hui gestured for silence, and judging by her grave expression, she seed to have noticed sothing alarming.

Everyone instantly fell silent, barely daring to breathe.

Su Hui gripped the stick in her hand tightly, prepared to strike at any mont.

She pricked up her ears to listen for any movent around them, and signaled everyone else to stay still.

Sothing seed to be lurking nearby, inching closer to them.

Faint footsteps and breathing could be heard, the rhythm of movent varying between swift and slow, but evidently getting nearer.

Although they didn’t know what it was, they were sure it wasn’t sothing normal.

Everyone was on tenterhooks.

Suddenly, Su Hui’s eyes turned piercing.

She spun around and struck with her stick, sending sothing flying.

A strange cry could be heard as everyone shone their flashlights in that direction.

The creature yelped in pain and scurried away.

Its figure was sowhat humanoid, but it had a pointed head and a grey complexion.

With her strike, Su Hui had knocked out one of its teeth.

There was blood everywhere.

Once the group got a good look, they all gasped in shock.

The tooth was incredibly sharp, not resembling a human’s, but rather so beast’s.

Perhaps even a wolf might not have such sharp teeth.

Su Hui noticed that the creature’s passage had left so deep tracks, indicating sharp claws.

However, it had human-like hands and feet and a humanoid figure, yet it had claws and teeth sharper than a wolf’s.

What was it?

The word ‘ogre’ quickly ca to everyone’s minds, and they feared they had really encountered one.

“This isn’t good.

We have to get out of here as quickly as possible,” Su Hui spoke, only to be interrupted by a series of footsteps.

The noises were loud and only served to tighten the already nervous atmosphere.

“Ha-ha, you’re here.

We finally found you.

Surrender and follow us, or else you’ll suffer,” the approaching party was a group of people from the ancient town.

They ca in a large group of over thirty, seemingly determined to capture them with their nurical advantage.

As Su Hui was about to respond, a few drops like rain fell from above, landing on the foreheads of people from the ancient town, startling them as they thought it was strong acid.

Nevertheless, it was a false alarm.

The substance that fell was not acid, but when they touched it, it wasn’t water either, and felt slimy to the touch.

Suddenly, more droplets fell.

Curious, a man from the ancient town shone his flashlight upwards, only to see several grey-skinned monsters hanging from the ceiling.

They had pointed heads, their eyes sewn shut, sharp claws tightly gripping the ceiling, and their sharp teeth bared, with drool dripping.

“What in the world is that!” Before the people from the town could understand what they were seeing, the creatures leapt from the ceiling, pouncing on the crowd and causing chaos.

These creatures were brutal.

A single bite could rip soone’s throat out.

If you tried to use your hand to block them, they would bite it off.

Their claws could pierce a human body and then ruthlessly tear it in half.

The town people initially fought back, but when they saw their fellows dying horribly, they gradually lost their courage.

So even started to run away.

Upon seeing the dangerous situation, Su Hui and the others had already run away.

It was a joke to even consider staying and risking their lives for these enemies.

“My God, there really are ogres in this world.” Ouyang Jin couldn’t believe what he had witnessed on this journey.

It had greatly challenged his understanding of the world.

As Jie ran, he spoke, “First, it was the strong acid, then the ogre.

Who knows?

Gu Fan and the others might be in a safe place, not suffering the sa awful experiences as we are.”

With annoyance, Su Hui snapped back, “I suppose you’re regretting not falling down with them, huh?” If the situation hadn’t been so perilous, her comnt could have caused laughter.

The cries of the townspeople and the growls of the beasts were chasing after them, urging Su Hui and the others to run faster.

Even though they knew everywhere was dangerous, they couldn’t bring themselves to stop.

“I hope there aren’t many ogres, and that they’ll go back ho after they’ve filled their stomachs.” Jie could only think of the optimistic outco.

anwhile, Gu Fan and his group were also in extre danger.

Every person was living on a knife-edge in this place.
